Wow wow, I just finished with this pattern and construction! What amazing instruction, it came out perfect! I can't wait to make many more! And I learned so much in the process (it's my first sewing project in a long while). Thanks for making the time and sharing, I'm grateful!

OMG, I just discovered you by accident and I am totally enthralled. You add a capital T to tailored. I have never seen a diyer talk about burying the thread, which my grandmother taught me to do when I was a child learning at her knee. You are so precise and detailed. I will be watching you exclusively from now. This is how the professionals do it. Thank you, thank you for for posting.

It's so great that I see it as a masterclass, not a tutorial. I would like to find some similar video on the Bucket Hat. Never got it right following the ones I found. Thanks! I'm gonna try it.

I think a darker brown for the lining would’ve matched better it’s really cute though

Lots of work here and I think that the stalk is way too tall. Kind of messes up an otherwise good-looking beret. But, I appreciate your sharing all this with us sewers.

Did the fusible interfacing get ironed on to the back of the fashion fabric? I think so, but I thought I should confirm that.
@StitchingVulture
@StitchingVulture 4 года назад
Yes, the fusible interfacing goes to the wrong/back side of the fabric.

Stitching Vultures! I love your style of explanation on the procedures of creating the pattern for the Beret. It is really a pleasure to have come across your work. I have since subscribed. Please, tell me, the fabric used for the Beret is called Muslin? I am interested in using the same fabric - kindly confirm.
@drillyvulture

@@angielavelavonballmoos3314 Yes, the sample I made for the demonstration is muslin, but you can use any fabric.

How to make a millitary style shaped beret?
@StitchingVulture
@StitchingVulture 3 года назад
That is a completely different process that requires a specific hat block.

Another great professional tutorial! I have made several berets, most of them velvet. And, for some I have used a stretch band, but for many I use petersham ribbon. Do you have any suggestions as to how to sew in the ribbon, such that when iit is turned inside, the crown stays folded down? Or, is that just the nature of a beret that does not have a band? For the velvet berets I do not use finishing stitches. Thanks much!
@StitchingVulture
@StitchingVulture Год назад
Do you mean keep the band exposed? Just press the band down, clip the seam allowance that connects the band to the crown and press it to the band. Stitch the Petersham against the stitching line. If you want a floppier crown over the band, just widen your crown pattern.

@@StitchingVultureHi. Thanks so much for your reply. I mean one without a band, but rather petersham ribbon inside. The edge of the beret seems kind of rolled but perhaps it cannot be flat, as with a band. Just wondering if there was a technique used in attaching the petersham that would make the edge lay flatter.
@StitchingVulture
@StitchingVulture Год назад
I've never tried it, but the Petersham might be too light for it. It might take some experimenting to get it right.

You can add a Petersham sweatband over the band as needed.

After the construction the size ended being 1/2 smaller, would you consider that normal? Thank you for your videos that have been extremely helpful since I’ve been trying to pick up Millinery again.

I’m super confused about the notches
@aurorannerenee
@aurorannerenee 3 года назад
The notches are there to help you line up the pieces, that way your piece doesn’t end up oddly shaped when you sew it
@aurorannerenee
@aurorannerenee 3 года назад
This way, your seams are also lined up as well
