Thanks for the video very informative. I received my new machine today. I can’t wait to try it out. It’s been a long time since I used a sewing machine. I’m excited getting the machine to hem pants and sew simple blouses and pants which cost a lot in the store for simple design.
I need your help to decide between singer 3505 and brother gs 2700. I have seen the singer 3505 demo and stitch quality is wonderful. I haven't seen brother machines as they are not in local markets right now. Expected in a months time. I like that singer 3505 has blanket stitch that I may use for applique. Brother doesn't have it. Brother has top loading bobbin vs singer having front load bobbin. Brother speed is 860spm while singer is 750 spm. I am a beginner . Please suggest which one of the two should I buy. If you had to choose between front loading vs top loading bobbin, which one will you choose? Thanks!
First find a dealer that sells and services the product you can develop a relationship with. If they take care of your problems you don't have any. The Singer has a metal frame that increases the life. However the top load bobbin is smoother running. Go back to the first sentence and get some classes with your new machine..
No the feed dogs do not drop and it does not have a hopping foot for free motion quilting. It is portable to take to quilting classes and suitable for piecing like the famous Singer Featherweight.
The big difference is the jam proof hook. The hook makes a complete revolution unlike the cheaper oscillating hook. It is also a top loading bobbin that allows you to see how much bobbin thread is left. It is smoother running and the bobbin is easier to insert. I don't put a lot of emphasis on counting the number of combinations of length and width. What is more important is does it have the stitches and adjustments you need for the sewing you will be doing.
