I live by Chicago, Illinois, US. I spent months planning our trip to Disney World, Florida. All I have to ask is Did you cry. There were moments for my daughter that I did! I’m glad you and your family had a good to time ❤
Glad you’re finally getting some nice weather! Love all those leopard print fabrics, especially the one with the coral bits. I’m a bit in love with your new desk. I’ll have to investigate whether they exist in Australia.
Thank you for sharing those wonderful pictures. I'm so glad you had a great time. I can commiserate about the Paris airport though. We got there way early for our direct flight home only to find that the flight didn't exist anymore. Took forever to get back to Seattle in the US
Thank the lord you were here - they postponed the Sewing Bee! Lovely catch up. Do feel free to pop up and see me in Scotland for a cool down if the heat gets too much. 😁 Smashing selection of goodies Ruan. Thanks for sharing. Xx
Great to hear your trip to Disney went well. Great fabric choices, definitely in your colour palette & look forward to seeing them made up. Desk looks super.😊
Lovely vlog as always and great to hear about the Disney tip, you must be considered to be the best parents ever and won a few brownie points. Glad you had a good time. Looking forward to seeing your Disney makes ❤
Ruan you made me buy fabric again 😅 that gorgeous knit from Fabric Godmother was too good to miss! Truly love you and I enjoyed hearing about Disney although my children were not big fans so never had to visit. Your desk is a beauty and enjoy using it to its full potential. I look forward to seeing all your next makes xx
Great fabric haul Ruan 👏🏻The standing desks are amazing - I’ve had one for 3 years because of shoulder and back pain - find it very hard to sew anywhere else now
Aaaahhhhh, the first fabric is gorgeous, this will suit you so well! 👏👏👏 and the dark red viscose twill as well 😍😍for the white linen I would suggest a pair of palazzo pants. I think white linen pants make everything better in summer, no matter what you wear with it, it always looks good.
Gorgeous fabrics! Can’t wait to see what you make. Nice to hear that you had a lovely time at Disneyland Paris. Love it there and I never get tired of it. (The one in LA is much better still, but it is a bit harder to get there 😂)
Beautiful fabrics & an amazing desk, hope that helps your shoulder. So glad you had an amazing time at Disney and the surprise went as you imagined, I remember how excited you were about it when I mentioned it at the gathering 😂 You sound like me travelling, need to get to airport early, I always use it as an excuse for a night in a hotel preferably within walking distance of it!
Love the fabrics ❤💖❤💖 Washi tape is so lovely but I’ve no idea when I’d use it 🤔 I’ve got the ikea rising desk (manual crank handle) I thought I’d use it to sew standing up but my foot pedal lead is too short 😢
Oh no! There must be a way of getting some sort of extension for the pedal 🤔 And I use washing or a few things: Taping A4 PDFs together Holding labels in place while I sew them into garments Wrapping birthday presents 🎁
Hi Ruan. Another fab vlog, thanks. .Disney looks fun, glad you enjoyed it 😀 Love all your fabrics. The blue linen would make a gorgeous pair of Thea trousers 👖 The desk looks great. I had a peep on the website, look like good vfm. 😊
I have a flex spot desk and love it. It really made a huge difference. Have had it for 2 years now. I got a long one and have overlocker on the right and sewing machine on left.
Eurostar is the way to go, so easy. Although they don't go straight to Disney anymore, you have to change at Lille. I have been to Disney world in Florida, no comparison and you have the weather. In France it rained all the time
Yes we did consider the tunnel but it’s a lot of driving if you live in the north like I do so we thought we’d fly. We were very lucky with the weather thankfully 🤩
Hiii! I just finished the Fleur dress because of you! I only made 2 other dress patterns previously so this was a challenge so thank you so much for the inspiration! I love mine and will definitely make more~
I got a cheap adjustable desk and it's been amazing for my back. I used it for studying this year but I think I might be using it to sew in the future 😘😘
Great video Ruan. Love all the fabrics! Just wondering, what do you use your washi tape for? I have lots but it’s all just sitting in a drawer and I’d love to use it!
Lovely pink/red fabrics Ruan. I am really beginning to like the Saltwater slip dress so took a look at your link. It must be good as you make it so often. I’m very interested in your new desk as I have a shoulder problem, which is resolving itself due to regular deep tissue massages. It’s because I overuse my right side and has been so painful. Is the table long enough for a cutting table though? That’s what I need. I’m always pinning things on my ironing board as can’t bear the constant bending. Cutting out on the floor was never a favoured option and now isn’t any kind of option. I’m always surprised to see them doing it on the Sewing bee as thought they’d have ample tables! 😊
Hi Ruan, so glad you enjoyed Disney. I feel your pain with french airport's....who knew that you can't relax...you have to start queuing as soon as you get there?. We've just come back from France and it was like you say, pretty stressful. But we know for next time! Lovely fabric haul and wow. That table!!!!
I vé been watching your videos for a while now, and why am I not amazed by this pinky viscose choice😂❤. Love these 2 colours all together and suit you so well as well. Just noticed I wasn't a subscriber yet, what a shame!!! Done. Following u from Brittany 🇨🇵
Fab fabrics Ruan, definitely a colour theme going on there😁 The desk looks amazing but shipping to Ireland might be a bit much😂 Could you please send your hot weather to us as we’re freezing here🥶
To be fair I filmed this a week ago and I can’t believe the change in temperature here 😫🤣 I’ve had a quick look and I think it’s free delivery to Ireland from what I can see. It says any UK deliveries come from the UK but any Ireland ones come from their warehouse in Germany x
30 seconds into the video and I have to pause to tell you it's supposed to hit 28C in Toronto today and tomorrow. 23C right now and I'm hiding in the shade on my patio with an iced coffee lol. The high humidity makes it feel like a sauna.
Your table is brilliant, so fancy pants! I need something like that, I have terrible shoulders and neck. When the table's high, does your machine foot pedal still reach the floor? Not sure mine would and how I'd get around that x
Fancy pants is the perfect description 🤣 I haven't used it at top height for sewing but I'm sure if it didn't reach you could get an extension cable maybe? I know Michelle (Sewing Bunny) sometimes sews stood up so there must be a way! Just being able to adjust the height slightly has made a difference on my shoulder - it's nice to be able to change it up rather than being stuck with the same height if that makes sense! x
Love your podcast. I'm from New Zealand, have family in Yorkshire so visited a couple of times. Have you used Australian pattern maker Pattern Emporium?
When did u film this🤔 I’m freezing and the heating is on 😂😂 I love love the heart fabric gorgeous 💕 And I was resisting the fabric godmother one 🙈🙈 but so tempted and I’ve just booked a holiday for September 🙈 Disney looked amazing!! Xxxx
To be fair I had a delay in uploading so it was filmed a week ago 😂. What a difference a week makes! Ps. I defo think that fabric would be perfect for a holiday 😉
I would love to see some disasters I have just had 2 and have lost my sew jo does your sewing always go to plan? and what do you do with the ones that don't? Thank you for your vlogs just love them. xx
Oh it’s horrible when you have a disaster isn’t it 🙈. I know it’s part of the learning process but it’s disappointing isn’t it! If you watch the ribbed knit vlog on our Northern Sewl Sisters channel you’ll see that my whole garment was HUGE 🤪. I do play it safe a lot in my pattern choices though. I tend to go for patterns I know will suit me!
Could you make a fleur without the peplum with Rachel’s fabric? Lengthen the bodice instead of adding peplum? That will use much less fabric, I should imagine….
