Awesome. Simplicity at its best. No jibber jabber to deflect from instructions, for me you have unveiled the mystery of seaming and I shall press on with my squares for a patch work throw. Thank you so much Hannah ❤

Some videos definitely have more jibber jabber than others, so glad this was helpful for you! Happy knitting 🧶

Thanks! I looked at several seaming videos and you managed to make it so much less complicated! I've always used the slip stitch without realizing it had a name. Now I know more about how to do it correctly. Will probably try the invisible stitch soon on a smaller project. Great video.

Yes, have a good go with the invisible stitch. Thats a good idea to start with a smaller project, with fewer rows to work through. Happy knitting 🧶

Andrea on Fruity Knitting preferred the back stitch for most of her seaming
@KnitWithHannah

That makes me think that perhaps Andrea did a lot of sewing before or alongside of knitting. It's such a good idea to pick up what works well in other situations, feels so much easier. Happy knitting!

Hiya from Tasmania! I thought mattress stitch went back into the previous stitches somehow and so its like lacing a shoe and then they disappear when tightened.
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 3 года назад
Yes, that's a great analogy, Sarah. It's just like lacing a shoe! Happy knitting. :D

Okay thank you for the video but what are the lavender bags for? Do you hang them to dry filled with lavender?
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah Месяц назад
I put lavender in them and they’re in the wardrobe and around my yarn too. Lavender is a clothes moth deterrent.

Hello Hannah. Thanks for this ... I have another way. I usually slip my first stitch on a row and knit into the back of the last stitch. This gives a little knobbly bit which I can either sew into or sew between using either a slip stitch or a back stitch.
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 3 года назад
That's a great tip! When you're looking for those stitches in the edges of stocking-stitch that can be a great hack to find them more easily. Happy knitting!

Do you have a video showing sewing up cast on/off seams at all? If not would you mind making one please as I like your way of explaining best. Thanks
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 2 года назад
That's a good idea! It might take a while to appear as videos are generally planned a long way in advance of filming. Other option for that scenario is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cIqXJcmFPTg.html

What type of stitching is best for what? Ie. what is good for shoulders, side seams etc
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah Год назад
This can really be a lot of personal preference and experimenting. I like the slip stitch seam for arm holes, personally and if the side seams are plain-ish stitching I like the mattress. Happy knitting 🧶

I tend to use the invisible seam for garments, but any will do, they'll all be resistant to wear. Happy knitting! 🧶

@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah Год назад
When you finish the invisible seam you can't actually see it on the outside, it's like the two stitches on either side are joined together 'seamlessly'. It's also in this video as a single tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uBbqBeGcxDg.html Happy knitting. 🧶

@KnitWithHannah

The pattern will not usually tell you exactly which seaming method to use, but if it does, know you can swap if you find a different one easier. Happy knitting 🧶

@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 3 года назад
Hi Vernita, the sound is quite loud in this video, I make sure of balancing it across the video. You may have to adjust it after any ads, and be sure to check the volume tab on RU-vid's controls - I've had it lowered or mute without realising before. And the automated subtitles/captions are available too. Click on the 'CC' tab when you hover over the video. Happy knitting!
