This is without a doubt the clearest explanation of sewing with the reamer I’ve ever seen, beautifully illustrated. Thanks for posting this, it also will help me to remember the correct direction for the cutting edge of the reamer by keeping the corkscrew topside right edge, that way the awls automatically facing the correct way. You see? I’ve even managed to make this little bit confusing lol unlike Felix, my defence is I’m only firing on two brain cells

Hello from Detroit Michigan brother we missed you we are happy to see you're back

(60 years ago), My Dad came home with a "SEWING Awl". It had straight and slightly curved needles and a bullet shaped clamp cup that held them into the handle...that held a small stainless steel bobbin of really heavy sewing thread. He read the instructions and taught me and Mom to use it. I taught my wife and daughter to use it and now my grand son. It worked just like the way you used the Swiss Army Knife. I hadn't thought of using the hole in the awl for sewing. Thank you for that nice instructional video! YA LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY ! Dad would say. The day you DON'T learn something, is the day they'll plan on dropping dirt on your coffin! Bill from Tn. 🇺🇸

I can barely understand some of his words however this gentleman just explained cross stitching in an easier and more understandable way then I have ever seen. That cardboard technique to explain loop stitching was brilliant.

I have used a diamond bit to chamfer the inside of the eye on my sewing awl in order to protect the cordage from damage from the sharp corner. This is how all regular sewing needles, machine or hand, are made. My oldest Victorinox, a Craftsman I bought in 1985, did not have an eye in the punch awl, but all my Champion Plus knives do. I say "all" because I have purchased a number of the Champion Plus knives on ebay (because they were discontinued) and am giving them to my children and grandchildren. The Champion Plus model is preferable to me because it isn't as bulky as the Champ, and I much prefer a totally separate pliers. The Knipex 125mm Cobra is a great and compact companion to my Champion Plus.
