Thank you for your vote! I will gather all the votes, and we will see which fabric won in the video next week😃 You're right! The darker brown would be an awesome colour for autumn 😍
Thank you for blurring the faces of strangers. I really appreciate that! Also, I’ve been really looking forward to this series. I’m so glad to see the first (second?) episode.
One of my nightmares is the idea of my resting bi*ch face being caught on random videos without me knowing 😅 so I won't do it to anybody else! I had to learn how to do blur tracking in my editing program, and it was worth it! Oh, you're right! I should call it a part 2, shouldn't I?😅 there will be so many parts in this series 🤓😵💫
Very excited for this series- it makes me want to sew a whole bunch of new clothes. I'd go with the light brown if I were you. I personally prefer the shade of the warmer brown but I think it might clash with the other items and that is exactly what you want to avoid in a capsule wardrobe!
This series is going to be my comfort series I can already tell, your content is so motivating to sew along with.:) Ps I love the lighter brown colour especially if it’s comfier
Yay, thank you!😀❤️ I started Yt roughly 3 months ago and I can't believe someone is looking forward to my videos! Thank you so much for your comment. You made my day ❤️❤️❤️
Omg, lucky you!!!🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️ I keep telling my partner that that's my plan for after our divorce 😂 I'll have so much fun if he dumps me!😂 thank you so much for your comment ❤️
I’d personally go with the lighter color. I think it lends itself better to spring colors. Please don’t forget to link any commercial patterns you use just in case your subscribers want to try them. Love your content. And I’m looking forward to more in the series.
I vote for light brown. The black pants came out awesome! Excited to see the next part of the series. I can’t believe it’s -30 over there! It was -17 here this past week and that’s the coldest it has been in years.
Thank you so much for your vote!😃 yesterday was the last day of this kind of cold and today it's 0 degrees. Such a big difference! Sadly, tomorrow we will have plus degrees during the day and the roads will be covered with pure ice! 😵 where are you located? 😃
@@Marlenasewing I’m in Alabama in the States. We rarely get snow and many people were stuck at home because of the ice on the roads. But it’s already gone now
I just found you and i really like your videos. Your vintage style, your funny editing and your positivity. I will slowly catch up with all of them. Also, its a bit late, but i vote for the light brown fabric. The polyester one just never gonna be comfortable
Very entertaining video and fun to watch. If I had to choose, I would go with the lighter brown. The darker one is too orange to me. I still have 1970s trauma from childhood. You always could dye the fabric to get it a bit darker. The cigarette trousers look nice, though I would go with a longer length. My budget doesn't allow for separate trousers and capris but that is my issue not yours.
So nice to see you again 😊❤️ thank you so much for watching! I hope that as your physical health improves, so will your financial wellbeing ❤️ I'm rooting for you! Thank you for sending me your vote on the fabric!😃 we will see next week which fabric got more votes🗳 😃😃
I'd go for thr light brown fabric. I also like the darker shade better, but I feel like lighter one will fit better with multiple colours, especially with the mint and pink you got. And I would always choose natural fabric over polyester. I loved the vloggy part of Norway winter, please keep it in your future videos! ❤
Aww, thank you so much for your comment! You're absolutely right that the light fabric will go well with mint and pink 😃 much more versatile and practical. Thank you so much!❤️ I'm a chronic homebody, but I will think of ways to show you more of my surroundings!😃 just wait for May. That's my all-time favourite month in Norway!
I relate to your sewing adventures and thought very much! I think the light brown is the better option. However, the darker brown would make a great full circle skirt given that it is polyester, plus it would look great with the blouses that you made in the next video!! Cheers, from Australia xxx
The warm brown will make a great vest since the colour works well with your skin and the polyester wont be a problem in a sleeveless piece. The twill worked out very well for the trousers, so stick to it. My opinion only. 💖
hi if i must go out in -30° you can be sure i'll go right in my couch with a litre of tea and a big big blanket! thanks for the dedication^^ i love the warm brown and i think iy suit better to you... 👖
I love the darker brown because it matches what you first envisioned and my brain got set to that color after seeing it so much in the last video. But…I think that the lighter one would look better with black if you wanted to wear the black vest with the light brown pants or vice versa. And the fabric of course is better suited for the items you want to make. I think it will wear better in the long run so your time invested won’t be a waste. Love the pattern…I am going to have to try it! Also, I never want to wear a hat either. 👖
Omg, I'm the same! If I were smart, I wouldn't even consider the darker fabric, but since that's the colour I envisioned.. STUCK 😂 thank you so much for your comment and for watching the whole video ❤️🙏
The pants look very good!! You and your kiddycat match perfect 👌 Hmmm I vote for the warm brown... maybe it picks up less hairs and dust? 🙃 Thank you and Greetings 👋
I think maybe the light brown works more all year round, and the more warm has more autumny winter vibes. And yes, that's my answer because I can't choose either, I guess 🙃😆
Hahaha! Thank you so much for your comment! You have a good point about the warm brown being more autumnal 😃😍 uuuu I already can't wait to plan an autumn capsule wardrobe!!😍😍😍
I really like the warm brown and would definitely make a pair of pants out of it, BUT, not by part of your capsule, but an extra. Use the lighter tan since you can get more of it.
Yay! I was so curious to see what pattern you would choose for the pants, and it turns out it is the exact same one I’m finishing up now. I did the facing instead of elastic band, because I had no idea 🤩 I’m gonna try that next. On me I feel that the waist sits a little lower, so I want to extend the pattern pieces a bit. I would like the pants to sit on my natural waist. I have sewn several ultimate pencil skirts, so my plan was to use the waist on that pattern to extend the pants a little bit 😊 As for the colour, I vote for the beige for the pants. The warm brown is lovely, but if you don’t like the quality you probably won’t wear them as much. Maybe save it for another piece of clothing? That doesn’t need structure like the pants do. Love love love this series of yours! So inspirational!!❤
Oh my goodness! So nice to think we were sewing the same pair of pants at the same time!!😃😃❤️ I am very short, so that's probably why the pants seem to sit so high on me 😅 Thank you so much for your vote!🙏 I will announce the winner fabric next week!😃❤️
I don’t like going out when it’s 30F. I can’t imagine going anywhere in that type of cold. But it was very beautiful there! You should try the Top Down Center Out method of pants fitting. It was in the summer 2022 issue of Threads magazine. It makes pants fitting with any pattern so easy! All you have to do is make half a toile, so not even wasteful of fabric.
The weather in Norway is so breathtaking, I don’t see things like that often since I’m in California. Thank you for sharing those awesome clips! Both shades of brown are so good that I can’t even choose and I would want them both!
I think that the light brown fabric with the right weight and drape will be better for what you want, the pants look really fabulous on and I really enjoyed the walk into town, seeing all your future houses from the train including the fabric store xx
haha aww, I'm glad you enjoyed the houses! I love watching them from the train 😍 Thank you so much for watching and casting your vote! I will count all the votes in next week's video 😀❤️
This is my sign that I need to work on the literal 3 pants I have cut out 2 weeks ago. Just like you, if left to my own devices, I will make a dress...for example, instead of working on those pants I mentioned earlier, I started and finished a dress for my brother in law's birthday in the span of 3 days...A dress so themed that I won't be able to wear it as often as the 3 pants I planned for my own little capsule wardrobe. Why am I like this. D:
These look great! I absolutely love this pattern- made a pair myself, also from cotton twill but the wrong side of the fabric is ‘brushed’ so they’re extra warm 🥳 Can’t wait to see what you make next!
I actually didn't mention it in the video, but I initially thought I would treat the "brushed" side as the wrong side. It feels soooooo nice, so I thought I would want that against my body. When I sat down to my sewing machine, the "wrong" right side looked a bit weird in the light, so I ripped the darts off and reversed sides. I kind of feel it was a waste of time, as both sides look really good in day light😅 haha well, nobody said I am not allowed to overthink my projects.🙈
👖 First, wow, -30 degrees Celsius is crazy cold but all this snow is so beautiful. It must be really awesome on a sunny day. ❄️ I’m also voting for the light beige fabric. I like the idea of a basic capsule wardrobe but I hope that you keep on wearing colours and patterns as well because they look great on you, for example this orange-red jumper or your green-flower dress. By the way the „impulse buy fabric“ is so cute and you definitely should get the tea cups. 😄🙈
Thank you so much for watching and casting your vote!😀❤️ I will definitely keep on adding "stand out" pieces to the wardrobe. I can't stop myself from buying all the pretty fabrics in the store😍😍😍
As much as I love the warm brown colour, I'd have to vote for the lighter fabric. For something close fitting, like those pants or a pencil skirt, polyester can be very uncomfortable. On a side note, I was looking for older sewing machines (just for fun, I'm not going to buy anything at the moment) and there amongst other machine was a Singer that caught my eye, because it looked familiar. A good looking beige/pistachio green Singer 319K. A funny coincidence that out of around 75 advertisments on that particular web page, one of those machines was that one. :)
What a shame you're not going to buy any machines now! 💔 I know the feeling when you see an awesome machine but can't get it💔💔💔 I was so lucky to get mine as a gift! Thank you so much for your comment!😃 I think you're 100% right about the practicality of the lighter fabric.
I definitely vote for the light brown color so cute!!!! The pants came out great and look fabulous on you! Love the content you put out!! Stay warm and safe 😊
The patterned one is very cute! Should be a nice pop with the solids. Cat hair is just the best finishing touch to any outfit! Great pants! I vote for the lighter brown as it had more positive attributes than the darker one.
@@Marlenasewing so happy to see you still replying 😉 I try to throw in a comment and a like when I see your videos because I want to live vicariously through you and see you succeed. But you'll succeed with either light or dark brown. All I ask is to see more kitty
I vote for both colours! They both seem lovely. Thank you for sharing this series, I'm really interested to see how the wardrobe develops! I'm doing something similar myself at the moment so this is very inspiring.
Yay, thank you!😃😃♥️ I should probably start Instagram or something, just so I could see other people's creations, too! I'm putting it off because I suck at social media 🙈🙈 but I am very curious about your capsule wardrobe 😃 I'm sure it's going to turn out amazing 🤩🤩
@@Marlenasewing I would totally follow you on Instagram! Although I'm not all that good at it myself, hahaha! Funnily enough I've also started my new wardrobe with some trousers! I've worked out a pattern and some features I like, now I just need the perfect blouse pattern to go with it. 😄
The beige is more of a spring colour and the cinnamon is more of a autumn colour. The cinnamon suits your complexion more. But if you plan to wear lots of colour the beige will act as a good neutral to compliment the colour.
I'd go with the lighter coloured fabric, because it is more durable and breathable. And since it is the same as the black, you know what alterations is needed, so it should be a fast project.
I like the darker color more, but if the fabric is not what I want, it won't matter. I would have asked if the store had a lookbook of the fabric that I liked, to see if it comes in different colors and if they are willing to order a specific one.
Good morning Marlena. I really enjoy seeing snippets of your life in Norway. My husband is very keen to live there but.... I'm not convinced. As an Italian and I wonder how enjoyable it really might be. The nature is breathtaking! It would be wonderful to have some stories about how and why you chose to live in Norway. My personality seems to be similar to yours and I've heard that Norwegians are very introverted. Anyway, I'm so glad that I found your channel. Baci da Londra! Antonia
Ciao Antonia!❤️😀 Thank you so much for your comment! This topic could be a whole book, so I will try to keep it short. If it weren't for my Norwegian partner, I would have moved out of Norway long ago. No hate to Norwegians or the place itself. It definitely has its perks. Especially when it comes to safety, childcare and health. I also love the rich culture of handcrafts here. Almost every lady at my work knows how to knit! However, the bureaucracy is definitely from the German school of thought, and it can be a bit overbearing. People can be difficult to break the ice with. Especially if you are just learning Norwegian, most people here are not very enthusiastic about helping beginners out. I was honestly scared to speak Norwegian as a beginner because of the unpleasant reactions I received. Once I got to a more advanced level people became more friendly, but I guess I have a bit of residual mistrust towards them because of the tough start. I also hear a lot of bad opinions being expressed about foreigners at my work by Norwegian colleagues. It's not that fun. If I were you, I would stick to my guns and stay in Italy. I understand that life can be rough in Paradise, but there is no place in Europe more beautiful than your country ❤️❤️❤️ I hope I will get to visit Italy soon!
Darling thank you for your frank answer! I am currently living in London, after a year in Bulgaria which I adored! I love eastern Europe. And yes, I do want to go back to Italy; the food is just too good! For full transparency I was born and raised in Oz: another racist and shall we say culturally stunted country? Thanks again for your honest response! Kisses, Antonia p.s. If you're coming to London anytime caffe is on me!@@Marlenasewing
Thank you so much for your vote!😃 we will find out next week which fabric won!😊 yes, the Sew Over It is an awesome pattern company. They helped me out enormously when I was learning to sew, so they'll always have a place in my heart 😊❤️
I vote for the beige/light brown fabric because it has more natural fibres. Also it is the epitome of basic.😅 I get why you like the darker color though and I cross my fingers that you’ll find fabric that also fulfills your other wishes. (For ordering fabric online: some send out swatches, so you could feel the fabric before buying more.)
Thank you so much for your vote! We will find out in video next week which fabric got more votes! 😃 also, squirrels are my spirit animal😍 I love them so much!!!
I vote light brown. The warmer one might not go so well with all the colourful blouses because it looks very peachy/salmon coloured (at least on camera)
@@wolfgangshuman oh my goodness! 💖 I hope to get a pomeranian boy too! I actually grew up in the region of Pomerania, where these dogs originate from! it's destiny!😍 Please give Wolfgang a kiss and a pet from me❤❤❤
I like both colors for pants but knowing that I am a human tornado, darker brown is a safer color for pants usually for me. Having said that you could always make both and just have three colors of comfy pants!
I’d change the colour in your drawings to the light brown and see how you feel about all the pieces together with a light brown before committing to a pair that might not work so well with your other capsule pieces
I like the brown-colored fabric better, but it's probably not a great fabric for pants. The rest of the fabric is really pretty, especially the mint and the rose-colored ones :)
I'm so glad you like the green and pink satin!😃 I was a bit disappointed about not finding the exact shades that were planned, but...well, that's life😅 thank you so much for watching!❤️
Warm brown! I super enjoy seeing the world outside your house (even though you don't like to leave)! I'm a sad American who lives in the South, so it's a stark contrast to what we've got going on here. And I love seeing your cubby boy! 🐱😍
Aww! Thank you so much for your sweet comment!❤️ I would love to go on a tour of the south USA someday 😃 may I ask which state you are from?😃 I think nature in your country is spectacular, and I'm a bit jealous of the warmer, southern states 😍 of course, the grass is always greener kind of a situation 😅 sending you a hug from Norway (from me and Pinky!)❤️
@@Marlenasewing Well, I'm from the Dallas-Fort Worth metro in Texas! It's mostly flat plains with the occasional gently rolling hill and many small creeks. I'd have to say the heat is oppressive. There are seriously 3 months out of the year where the low is 80F (26.67 C) for a couple hours, and then it's a high 100s f (37.78 C).
I like the color of the dark brown better, but It seams to be a better fabric for a drapey type of pleated pants that are more loose. If you want to make the same pattern, I'd go with the stiffer light color. At the end of the day you have to choose the one you like more because you will wear it more. There is no point to make something and then not want to wear it. Go with your gut and your preference!
I feel the same as you about both fabrics. Love the colour in one, love the type of fabric of the lighter colour. I guess I will have to make 3 pants 🙊😅😅 thank you so much for your comment!!
Can you dye the light fabric to the color you like???? Oof, -30c/-22f is about as cold as I've been hiking here in Alaska. But I have repurposed old fur I've found in thrift shops into new things. I try and use all of it to preserve as much of the fur as I can. I'm of the mind the animal already gave its life and its better than the fur going into a landfill. Also its cold here and ita good to use it for the purpose it was meant to serve. I love the capsule wardrobe and the pants look great!
You went hiking in Alaska?!😲 that sounds AMAZING!🤩 It must have been a real adventure! I totally agree with you about the fur. It had it's purpose and it's sad to see it thrown away. Thank you for your comment!❤️
