I find that men’s shirts at the thrift store are a great source. Lots of tiny dots and stripes. I sew for Tonner dolls and a great source of patterns is Designs by Jude. She has videos that show step by step on how to sew these patterns. She also has Barbie patterns on her website

Yes! Tamara Casey is great with designs by Jude! So many beautiful patterns. Yes, there are a plethora of men’s shirts at the thrift store, plus you can find some really high quality fabrics for a good deal!

That’s a really good idea going to a thrift store to get cool fabric.

Trace your patterns onto a thin stabilizer. Then you will never have to cut your patterns, and your patterns will last longer since they aren't paper.

Thank you for your tutorial! Since you mentioned that black fabric will dye the body of the Barbie doll, do you happen to know what kind of black fabric will not stain the doll? (I've seen new Barbies with black dresses on that don't have the plastic protection). Thank you!
@MyStitchinDolliverse
@MyStitchinDolliverse Год назад
Right I have seen black T-shirts and what not on fashionistas. The dolls that really stain are the silkstone dolls which is a different material of plastic. Also the vintage Barbies that have more rubber legs will also absorb the black dye.

Etsy!! There are many vintage Barbie patterns and modern ones as well. You can download and print them!

what drives me crazy of those vintage patterns, is i cannot totally trust them, they do not fit perfectly as i like on my vintage 60s doll, maybe they work good only with simple cotton or people at the time were happy with a so-so fitting... i end up doing lot of extra work to adjust them. I do not have enough patience for a second identical one!
@MyStitchinDolliverse
@MyStitchinDolliverse Год назад
It’s true I know exactly what you mean that’s why I don’t use the patterns that often I’d rather just drape the garment on the doll. There’s also this whole thing with weight of fabric and the drape that it has. It contributes to the stiffness and how well it fits or not. The patterns are more for mommy made garments for a little kids back in the day. ❤️
