My grandma gasps at the _word_ sex. I can't even imagine trying to have this kind of conversation with her. She'd crack out the bible in .4 seconds.

As an adult, I realize that the dialogue concerning sexuality I had with my parents was outside of the norm here in the US. In my culture (Thai), sexuality - including homosexuality and alternative genders, is not seen as being shameful. Thus, parents were and are open to conversations about sexuality with their children. In fact, a lot of sexual humor and teasing is found in books, television shows and other media aimed at adolescents.

How star is the generational change in addressing the topic ! Even in her studies they didn't address the pleasure aspect, only development and changes. My favorite aspect of this interview with your Grandma was seeing the personal you relating with her. Your reaction to her saying your mother "knew it all" was priceless. So human, so cute. Whatching you as an educator is ofcause very informative and downright refreshing in how amazingly open and "matter of fact" you just lay the information out there as it is. Always entertaining in the way you present your material. However, it was so nice to see YOU come through as simply a Daughter and Grand Daughter. A person. Thank you for sharing that.

Your grandma is cool and cute as she can be! I love the fact she is so open and easy to talk with on this subject. This is the way ALL parents and grandparents should be with their kids, approachable, open minded and understanding. Too many kids get their sex education from porn because they feel way too awkward to discuss it with a parent. Open communication with your kids from day one is the key to being a good parent!

One Christmas I was home alone with my nan for a couple of hours reading New Moon while she knitted and she randomly blurted out "I was still a virgin when I married your grandfather" lol.

My paternal nan absolutely hated sex apparently and only did it a couple of times to have my dad. And my maternal nan was very devout JW so she wouldn't have ever spoken about it if she were still alive through my teenage years, so it's nice to watch this video. That's not to say it's a conversation I'd have, but it's interesting to know about the changes in education and taboos

My grandmother is 85 now and I cannot imagine having a conversation like this with her! Her husband (my grandfather) passed away about 6 years ago, and hearing your grandmother talking about her sex life at 80 being support and warmth.. Oh my gosh! So many tears!

I'm a 49 year old single, bachelor guy. I don't have a girlfriend at all. Good job talking about sex stuff. We all keep growing, and learning in life. Thanks for sharing your story. We are all loved very much. We just have to keep being patient, and believing. It's not easy living on your own.

When I was about 40 I moved into a condo where the manager was in her late 60's. The day I moved in she came to my door and invited me to her unit the following morning for a coffee so we could get to know one another. About 9 AM I called her and she said to come on down to her unit. When I arrived and knocked on the door, she greeted me in a flannel nightgown that was very thin and you could see certain aspects of her that should not have have been on display to strangers such as myself. We had our coffee and a conversation about the building along with some semi personal details about who we were. After about an hour, I told her I had to leave to get some more items unpacked and she asked me if I could have a look at the lights in her upstairs bathroom that were not working properly. I agreed to have a look and we went upstairs to the bathroom. I was checking out the lights and I kept bumping into her since it was a very small bathroom. I told her that she needed a new switch and she asked if I could replace it for her if she got one and I said yes. The next day she called and said she had a new switch and asked if I was available to replace it. I said I would be right down and once again she hovered over me and kept bumping into me. As soon as I got the switch replaced she asked if I could look at the closet doors in her bedroom and since I now had an inkling as to what she was about I agreed to have a look. Once in the bedroom, well, I never did get a look at those doors. I spent the rest of the day with her and I have to admit she was possibly the best lover I have ever had. She knew what she liked and she was not afraid to ask for it. Since she was European, she was also very open to suggestion and was willing to try anything I asked for. She moved out about five years later and I missed our sessions when she was gone. Today, I'm 68 and I still had wants and desires but it is very hard to find another like her. Most women in my age group want little more than companionship and sex is off the menu. Too bad. If they would just open up a bit they might find that they have plenty of fuel left in the tank..........

It was eye-opening to see what you focused on as being important for sex at 80 (orgasms in the garden) compared to your grandmother (support, listening to one another) - yours seem to be more pleasure-based, more physical, whereas hers were more intimacy-based, perhaps more the mental side? I'd be interested to know if this is a generational difference or if over time you move from one way of thinking to the other as priorities change. Cool to think about!

My mom’s -step- mom (her bio mom didn’t want her and her sister so naturally I’ve never met my bio maternal grandmother) would bust out the Bible in a millisecond if I tried to ask her questions like this. She’d tell me that I need Jesus. I’m an atheist, so I’d probably just *pretend* to listen while internally groaning and getting lost in my imagination like I always do.

I wanted to know if 79 years old still had sex, thanks for not answering my question.
