Kudos to jade for being so passionate about this issue!! It’s crazy how the laws or NUS is so lax about it just to keep their prestigious reputation. I live in campus too and now I’m cautious while I shower which shouldn’t be the case.

honestly we need more people like jade in the society. people who actually give a shit enough about the awful things happening to get so worked up about them. and i definitely relate with the whole feeling like she's being gasligthed thing. i used to be super vocal about my opinions & anger towards unjust behaviour but the people surrounding me would always gaslight me and now i just keep my thoughts to myself. it really takes a lot of courage to speak up when everyone is making you feel like you're crazy for being so angry and i hope i can maybe find that courage in me again someday.

I was being filmed in the toilet cubicle just last year December at my workplace. It was a guy at his late twenties and wearing smartly. I saw a light reflection from the phone at the bottom of the cubicle. My first reaction was zipped my pants and kicked his cubicle door to ask him open the door. He panicked and opened the door without even pulling up his jean and the phone was at camera mode while he said he was youtubing. I got furious and embarrass at the same time and i left the scene as there were other guys. I reported to the HR and i did not report up to the Authorities as i felt that it might be the guy first time and might ruin his career prospect. However after discussing with HR, we agreed to report to the building management (Mapletree) to warn other guys in the building itself. The next day when i using the toilet cubicle, there is a warning notice stick on the door. Kudos to Mapletree for the fast reaction. I actually saw him at the end of the day and i asked him alone why he did that and he quickly flee with a smirk smile. This came to me that i am truly dumb for not reporting to the Authorities. I guess it is not just happening in the campus but any where and any time. We did not choose to be a victim but was being forced to be a victim. Please stop the backlash just because the victim might look inferior than the culprit. Thanks.

The fact that the perpetrator just got a slap on the wrist just pisses me off

I've binge watched and finished all of episodes of real talk, and honestly Jade is the reason I come back. It's so evident that she's gone through a lot of things in life , from weird experiences of chicken breakup to abortion during her school days. She's genuinely really smart. Love you girl❤

I just watched a patriotic infomercial in the MRT today (the ones they play on the train screens by the gantry)... A man groped a girls butt, she screamed, ran after him and he jumped over the MRT barricade to get away. Outside the MRT, a couple of men tackled him ... eventually having the police arrest him in handcuffs... I watched this TODAY. The timing of this video coming out (after having watched that) is comical. So basically, my takeaway from this is, Singapore just PROPAGATES to maintain a strong, ethical front but does very little to actually serve justice for these issues... The internet breeds many flaws, but in this instance, I'm really thankful that you've taken this platform to bring us closer to the truth. Unveiling abit of the mask casted by people of power that portray our society as "utopian" or to propagate that Singapore is a "fine" country. It isn't, and NUS has its problems too. The first step forward is to have these things addressed. To give power to the minority that usually don't have the voice. THANK YOU FOR THIS.

Love how jade is so passionate about this issue and I agree. We need to speak up and protect vulnerable people. NUS have swept so many cases under the rug already and I just feel so sad for all the victims including the ones that don’t dare to speak up about their incidents.

I have no idea why this is in my recommended but I’m so happy it is, the more coverage this gets, potentially the more pressure gets put on those in positions of power to prosecute those who carry out such heinous crimes

Many people think feminism is bad becos some people have manipulated the movement to suit their causes... but feminism is not about putting guys down, it is simply letting males and females live on equal terms. And I do think talking about on a platform like this that has such a large audience is crucial to raise awareness and bring to light sexual harrassment in Singapore, which is more often than not swept under the rug to maintain Singapore's reputation (low crime doesn't equal no crime and all that). Also, people who want to do something but didn't know what they could do can use the information given at the end of the video make their voices heard :) ❤

Never had any interest in any talk show on RU-vid until i watch this series

I was waiting for the moment where you guys would discuss on how Nicholas's punishment/rehabilitation should be made. I agree that the sentence was not heavy enough to prevent others from doing the same. Just warning only, I get caught never get punished ok lo. But then again, do we want to enforce a strict punishment to the point where the offender's record will be lingering stigma in his future pursuits? To be honest, I'd rather have heavy punishments, just as a deterrence for other pricks who are even thinking of such acts. Needless to say, I still believe rehabilitation is crucial in this case, hoping to reform the offender and be able to become a better member of society. It's fucking mortifying that NUS and NTU would keep it under the rug to keep their reputation pristine. I guess it didn't work out so well with social media acting like wildfire.

here's my stance, would really appreciate if everyone reads it! the thing is that it doesn't only happen in nus or ntu or smu, it also happens in my school. secondary school. although it did not reach the stage of rape but it is still under sexual harassment. long story short, he placed his hands on my friend's thigh and tried to make his way up, not only that or lets say not only her but other girls too that he use to have a crush on. unwanted cheek kisses and hugs, pursuing and snooping around them, giving them stuff when they already said no. another instance was when he said he will wait for my friend after her tuition and she said no, but he still went there and wait for her. it is scary how he is in my class and even though i'm not visually appealing, i get scared sometimes. it is also scary how it develops at the age of 13-17 or even younger, i don't know. up till today, he still doesn't stop despite the amount of statements given against him by my classmates i followed jade and monica's ig stories, and yea i really do think that nus needs to work up on their discipline and consequences kind of thing. a 1 year suspension? a warning? that isn't enough. everyone has a right to step up and talk how they are feeling towards a certain subject and i believe the majority of us thinks that nicholas and the previous offender deserves a bigger punishment. everyone also has the right to speak up about their troubles especially for cases like this. especially for us girls, we are more prone to cases of harassment and also to the extend of mental illness and we all should not be scared to voice out and call out all the offenders and bad doers. all in all, i feel that sexual harassment cases needs to have a stricter consequences rather than a warning on first time. don't even look about what is the context. you can have the girl awfully traumatized but they guy getting just a warning. it just doesn't sound right. thank you for reading till here

Literally, these kind of cases doesn't only happen in NUS but in other universities as well. The BOD will always want to close the case as fast as possible for the IMAGE of the university without thinking damages of the girl must face in the future.

i always wonder.. but can someone explain to me, why are school's first instinct to cover up these sorts of sexual misconduct cases? its not just in Singapore, but a lot of other countries also face these kinds of issues, and we only hear about it if the victim is brave enough to bring their case to the public's attention.. shouldn't an education facility have their main focus on the wellbeing of their students? not only that, but bringing these cases to light also puts them on the moral high ground, teaching potential perpetrators that such actions are wrong, and properly educating society, like what they are supposed to be doing? grades aren't everything, a person's morals is also essential to whether they become successful or not. it shouldn't be a case of protecting a perpetrator because their potentially good future will be ruined, by doing that specific action, they have already ruined their future. it is the future of the victim that they should be protecting, the one that did nothing wrong. you can't value "futures" like that.. sad and maddening..
