Tones from PRails using micro switches to change from single coil, to humbucker, to P90. I love the flexibility! It’s a flick of a switch before, during, or after songs that make these pups work well for me.
That guitar is gorgeous! I am considering building a partcaster strat or tele with a p rail in the bridge, p rails sound pretty good and makes everything versatile XD cheers, thanks for sharing!
Thank you. These two work well together. The amp is an Allen amps Sweet Spot with a 10” speaker. I built the guitar. We call it the Royal Hawaiian. The Koa I used for the top is highly figured and I’m afraid won’t ever get this level of Koa again. I added strips of bird’s eye maple, used western maple for the body and hand carved the neck. The headstock cap is the same Koa. We hand carved the Plumeria sound hole. Thanks for asking and I truly dig this guitar! She’s a comfortable player. Weight is under 8lbs.
Maybe the first time I've heard someone change mini hums for P90's because the former were too harsh. But then, the Duncan's aren't much like traditional designs in this case. It's not that they don't sound " good" in most positions, - no doubt very balanced.I think that I respond to the more extreme characteristics of standard singles and 90's.The old Duncan Phat Cats are one of the only " improvements" that I've kept, and have been trying the Railhammer Neuvo/ Cleancut designs recently.
The problem I have with these pickups, is that the P90s sound great, but the single coils don't. It's because they just aren't in the right position, too close to where the middle pickup is. Leads to the neck and bridge single coil becoming snotty
