As a kid in the 80s, when those Thursday night primetime "adult" shows were suddenly pre-emptied with a multi-colored, neon, rotating chyron reading "SPECIAL, I knew it was gonna be something fun for us kids. More often then not, it was "Garfield"! Flash forward, years later, after I started in the biz as an actor, I had no idea I would be part of this sarcastic, orange tabby'd universe created by Jim Davis.

What you're about to see is a bit of behind the scenes footage I took while recording The Garfield Show. Produced and directed by Mark Evanier, who helmed the original series on Saturday mornings. Digital animation produced and directed in France! I was cast as "Nermal", the cutest annoyance to fill Garfield's, Odie-drooling, Mondays. Recorded at the famous Buzzy's Studio in Hollywood (also where the original series was recorded) and starring Frank Welker (Garfield), Audrey Wasilewski (Arlene), Gregg Berger (Odie), and Wally Wingert (Jon). This was one of the biggest highlights of my career! Not only working on one of my fave IPs, but what a cast, what a show, what a great experience. Evanier, has worked in Hollywood for decades and shared space with some of the top talent in television. Before, sometimes during, every recording session we would be delighted with a story or two from his varied on set/off set adventures. Mark would even bring on some extremely notable guest stars: Mark Hamill, June Foray, David Lander, Stan Freberg, Neil Ross, Jack Riley, Laraine Newman...to name a few. For most, this would have been their final performance.

Perusing old footage on my hard drives, I found I had collected enough visual ephemera from our Garfield recording sessions to throw a little short together. Highlighting what it was like in our sound studio and coloring up one of the most prolific and versatile performers in my industry: Frank Welker. I hope you enjoy this Scene from Behind!
