After 4 months of on and off production, this project is finally complete. Thank you all for getting me this far. It means a lot. Support more animations: / coreyladdo See more on Twitter: / coreyladdo
Wow, 1 million views. I wasn't expecting this video to reach even half that much, thanks everyone for enjoying my work! Be sure to stick around for more stuff in the future, I have some exciting projects to reveal soon.
That awkward moment when you can't tell if the movements look unnatural because it's SFM or because it's a David Byrne music video I want a side by side so bad now
@@ammagon4519 There are... exceptions. I take that back. There is *an* exception. HDTF never happened, it doesn't exist and if you bring it up again i will assume it's an acronym for "High Definition Television Fun".
I mean the G-Man is heavily implied not to be human by the way he acts and his powers. I am starting to think Byrne might just be here to help us overthrow the eventual Combine invasion he will start
should be fine they would have only seen 2 and a half clips half a decade ago got bored then went back to makin some tf2 hats and uttering smth about the cake being a lie in their scrooge mcduck steam bank
And you may ask yourself “how did I get here?” Don’t drink the water, they put something in it, to make you forget. I don’t even remember how I got here.
@@theCreature773 My apologies, this was mere coincidence. I did not know you said something similar, the first thing I thought of was G man with the midlife crisis and just went from there.
@@theCreature773 Don't be that self obsessed, literally anything can be memed with ", Mr.Freeman" It's not much of a coincidence when Corey has a lot if Talking Heads edits on his channel too.
@@Wanderer042 If you're dealing with alternate universes and what not you're sooner or later going to run into a more successful version of yourself, right? Gman is a veteran in his field so who knows how many superior Gmen he has encountered. Imagine seeing a version of yourself with the body of an olympic athlete having the time of his life with a beautiful young Gwoman because that Gman doesn't have to go around messing with reality for a living and there you are, the mediocre, regular Gman with the lanky body of a slightly starved Nicholas Cage with the face to match, on your way to mess with yet another universe. Sooner or later you're gonna banish yourself to the void to just _let the days go by._
And you may find yourself Sitting in a rusty train And you may find yourself In a city with a number instead of a name And you may find yourself Behind the wheel of a weaponised automobile And you may find yourself in a resistance base With a beautiful Alyx And you may ask yourself, well How did I get here?
Letting the combine go by, let the water hold me down Letting the combine go by, water flowing underground Into the blue again after the resistance is gone Once in a half life, water flowing underground
@@buddette5513 It looks like that, but there's more to it. When there's motion blur, you can see the green screen effect better, which wouldn't happen from chromatic aberration alone.
Canon Gman’s only exposure to humanity before he was assigned by his superiors was the music video of Once in a Lifetime, and you can’t change my mind.
proof talking heads is the g-man in the song "born under punches" david bryne says "i'm a government man" government man = g-man half-life: talking heads confirmed
I sent this to my dad cause he's a talking heads fan and he'd played the half life games back around when they originally came out so I figured he'd appreciate it. I walk in on him watching this on his phone absolutely grinning. thanks for making something my dad liked so much it means alot to me
It’s even better when it looks like gman was poorly green screened in. The model doesn’t have that effect, Corey spent effort to intentionally make it look low effort.
G-man's Employers: "Per our contract, we have granted you the ability to perceive and travel in the fifth dimension. We trust you know what to do with this." G-man:
If i remember correctly they actually used a blue screen in the original, but i could see how that would be difficult with the blue suit and everything.
Angry Bidoof basically this animator made a parody video of bugs bunny with very crude jokes including bugs bunny being a serial rapist. The video got taken down with the reason being it was their property. So technically speaking that video is there property and that bugs bunny is theirs
Making anything that is cohesive in Source is difficult. It takes alot of skill to do it. Making something this good, that is nearly identically and that almost perfectly follows a complicated and well shot music video is a true model of talent, commitment, and dedication. It's a shame that RU-vid's algorithm almost never rewards high quality, hard to make, evergreen rewatchable content like this, and the copyright content strikes must really sting after all your effort. This is an amazing video, and I haven't even the phanom of clue as to how long it took to make in the new source engine. P.S: I bet you're tired of hearing this song after editing all of this and creating the video.
I believe it is called juxtaposition. Something cute to contrast something grim. Case in point, Warhammer 40k. In the grim darkness of the future, there is only war and children's playground arguments.
Can’t believe it took me more than thirty years to work the double meaning out. My god! What have I done? - “I’ve done something terrible.” My god! What have I done? - “I’ve done nothing.” Which is worse?
In the games, he's weird and a bit creepy, and is clearly working towards his own mysterious ends, which has so far culminated in him using Alyx to screw with the timeline before promptly kidnapping her. By contrast, these memes make G-Man do the goofiest things, such as reenacting Once in a Lifetime, telling Gordon how to make Headcrab Jambalaya, and dancing to "Jerkin' Back and Forth" by Devo
After watching and coming back to this a few times, I just noticed that you can sometimes see the slightest bit of green outlining gman’s body, as if he actually was in front of a green screen like the original. Except that wouldn’t be unintentional in an animation, that would have to be painstakingly added in. God damn.
Easiest way to do it would be to just do the animation with a green background export it and then do the green screen effect in an editing software the same way you would for anyrhing else. Its not the worst thing but is deffinetly extra effort they didn't have to go through.
The best part of this video is that you inadvertently introduced Talking Heads to a bunch of people who didn't know who they were before. That's a net positive for the world.
You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful citadel?" You may ask yourself, "Where does that train to Nova Prospekt go to?" And you may ask yourself, "Am I the right man? Am I in the wrong place?" And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?"
I mean this with 100% sincerity: This affects me on an emotional level in a way that the original didn't even do Like, I knew before what David Byrne was saying but now I like, GET it I FEEL it
0:32 _"You may find yourself in another part of the world..."_ That's actually a quite fitting quote for G-man, considering how Half-Life 1 takes place in New Mexico, while Half-Life 2 takes place in eastern Europe.
I can't tell if your animation has gotten smoother since this or if it's just that David Byrne was really stiff in the original music video and you captured it perfectly
And you may find yourself standing in a testing chamber. And you may find yourself wearing a HEV suit. And you may find yourself behind the bar of a large push-cart. And you may find yourself in a beautiful cascade, with a beautiful crowbar. And you may ask yourself, "..."
@@tcleocoa6740 "The video was choreographed by Toni Basil and co-directed with Byrne. They studied archive footage of "preachers, evangelists, people in trances, African tribes, Japanese religious sects" to see how Byrne could incorporate them into his performance. Televangelist Ernest Angley was another inspiration." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Once_in_a_Lifetime_(Talking_Heads_song)
Maybe it's because it's Gman. But I can totally see this being made it Gmod back in 2007 and I think that's amazing. You really nailed the animation in this!
I swear, The G-Man Model from Alyx is so realistic it keeps confusing my brain slightly, especially in the close ups. The fact that you animate it so well probably doesn’t help XD
