Rhey could have easily gotten away with them being 21, 26, and 31. That'd make them 5, 10, and 14, which is believable from the art we saw. I think they just REALLY wanted Hanzo to be Dad-aged and Kiri and be almost a teenager.

It’s a symptom a lot of writers have, somehow they lose track and fuck up the ages. For example, in avatar the last airbender, they never intended to have Avatar Kyoshi to be around 200 years old. But they fucked up the timeline and they accident made her be that old, so they said fuck it yeah, Avatar’s can live for a long time.

Hang on… Hanzo and Genji are 40 and 37, and Kiriko is 21? That would make Hanzo 19 and Genji 16 by the time Kiriko was born. Seems like a pretty big age gap for them to have “grown up” together.

@@Mbrace818 I'm pretty sure there are lines that indicate they are at least a bit closer then age, not to mention Kiriko's origin video shows the three training together and her and Genji don't look like they have an age gap of 16 years or her and hanzo having an age gap of 19. before they did all this reageing/ageing up i remember it said she was in her mid twenties which made sense with back then Genji being 35 and hanzo being 38, if kiriko is at minimum 25 then hanzo is only 13 and genji 10 which fits the narrative we were given much better then what they showed us now. Me and my friend decided to go through and reage them to what we thought felt right (like how they made widowmaker 35 when she was married to a friend of solider76 and reaper who are in their 60s so we agreed she shouldn't be younger then 40, still a fairly large age gap it made us feel better)

The funny thing is her age is irrevelant in regards to her design. Kiriko by lore is blessed by the fox spirit, which makes her 100% healthy and basically immune to any form of negative physical changes. She couldnt develop wrinkles or bags, no gray hairs either. She would look basically look the same no matter how old she was. So theres no reason to not have her age be around Genji and Hanzo.

I mean even then, 30’s isn’t exactly ancient, someone in excellent care without the fox spirit could still look youthful, and the fox spirit could enhance that. Problem was Blizzard wants Kiriko to a spunky teenager. At the expense of the story.

Kiriko needed to be marketable, that's why she's simultaneously both 21 and childhood friends with well established characters. Not to mention of course her kawaii powers and sassy attitude, she's simply built to appeal to a certain audience to the point of parody, Blizzard's intentions were not subtle at all with her.

A) she did not build the mech herself, she just services it herself. She also has dae-hyun as a mechanic for the hard stuff. B) In most of the world you're allowed yo drink from 16-18, it's only the US in which you have to be 21. C) Even in the US you're allowed to enlist in the army at just 18.
