It's actually plenty Unfortunate for Kogasa, as she kinda thrives off Surprise and Shock, as it gives her power. She don't need it as sustenance, but she does need It to be able to keep her own Spiritual Power up, the same kind everyone else uses for their danmaku battles and Spell Cards. While she can absorb this power off other sources of Shock and Surprise, She tries to do it herself because she's an Karakasa Obake, An Umbrella Youkai, which In Folklore, Being Harmless, also thrives off Shock and Surprise; and wouldn't be like her if she didn't do otherwise.
