I did this video because quite a number of people commented that they were getting 'Permission denied' errors when following the instructions from my earlier video - Setting up an SFTP Server on Windows (Server) with OpenSSH (using Microsoft's port of OpenSSH) ( • Setting up an SFTP Ser... ).
NOTE: This is only one possible reason why you might be getting 'Permission denied' errors, use the information in the logs to troubleshoot your specific error further.
NOTE: After you are done troubleshooting, reset the LOGLEVEL back to INFO and restart your sshd sever. If you don't do this, your log file will increase in size very quickly.

hi, when I try to view the logs files C:\ProgramData\ssh\logs the logs folder shows nothing, any ideas? Thanks so much for the tutorial!

Hello, did you solve your problem? One common mistake is forgetting to restart the server. Let me know if you're still having issues.

Don't forget to change your syslogfacility setting to local0 on windows, otherwise it'll log to openssh/operational in the windows event viewer by default.

I had the same original error, so I followed your steps on this video. I had something similar and had to set the default command to start sftp to the actual path of ssh-sftp-server.exe in the c:/program files/openssh directory. The internal command did not work for me.

Please try this; - run sysdm.cpl via Run - At the Advanced tab Click Environment Variable - Edit the Path section and add your C:\Program Files\OpenSSH path as well via the Browse option, and try again, solved.
