In 1996, Midway combined everything Mortal Kombat at the time into one package. The result is Mortal Kombat 3 with a fuckload of characters, load times, and more balance issues than you can throw a spear at.
Raiden being misspelled as "Rayden" was only on the ports handled by Acclaim. Ed Boon has gone on record saying that he absolutely hated that spelling.
MK1's stage representation is kinda weird. MOST of the stages are there, (4 out of 7, including the Pit Bottom) but one would think it wouldn't be that difficult to add the other 3.
Something I noticed about the Aggressor meter (aside from it being a shitty name) is that you don't actually get to use it if you kill your opponent too quickly. Your opponent HAS to be guarding a good chunk of your attacks if you want to use it at all. So, if neither player remembers how to guard, neither of them is ever getting that power-up. I'm a bit okay with that once I get how it works, it's a punishment for relying on guarding in a game where guard chip damage is insanely tiny.
Actually, Tobias was still with Midway when Trilogy was released. He didn't leave the company until 2000, during the production of "Special Forces". His head is still in the Pit bottom stage (player 1's fighter can be seen standing in front of it at the start of each round).
AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR SMACKDOWN SUNDAY *Heavy Metal Music* TONIGHT! on SMACKDOWN SUNDAY, the Brothers go head to head in BLOODY CARNAGE! as they face each other in battle, locked in MORTAL KOMBAT THERE WILL BE BLOOD THERE WILL BE VIOLENCE AND THERE WILL BE FATALITIES. He was talking about how Bi Han and Noob Saibot are here in the same game. In the MK story, Bi Han is killed by Scorpion and becomes Noob Saibot so it's odd that both versions of him are in the same game.
For the TWO ON TWO battles; have these PAIRS for ONE PLAYER...LIU KANG & KUNG LAO, JAX BRIGGS & SONYA BLADE, KITANA & JADE, SUB-ZERO (KUAI LIANG) & SMOKE, SEKTOR & CYRAX, GORO & KINTARO, LIU KANG & KITANA, SONYA BLADE & JOHNNY CAGE, SHANG TSUNG & GORO, SHAO KAHN & MOTARO.
MKTX is a Mugen version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Basically it's the Definitive version, with new characters, more Fatalities, and smoother animations.
Oh boy. I fell goddamn old becuese this is the first fighting game and mortal kombat game i've ever played. Believe it or not i was 5 years old and it was my borther's previous friend who owned this game.
DuckMcDerp Yeah, and you know how much it costs if you buy everything? $60. That is full retail price of your standard game. When KI launched in 2013, it was $20. TWENTY. 1/3 of a game. Season 2 came out at another $20. 2/3 of a game. Season 3 came out. Another $20. 3/3 of a game. Why are you complaining? You don't have to buy every goddamn character and even if you do, it's no more expensive than a new game. Check your facts.
DuckMcDerp They make it that way so that you can get accustomed to the game before you buy it. You can demo the whole game with 1 character. And if you don't think the game is your forte, you won't have to feel bad if you wasted your money.
Yeah, $60 NOW, 2 and a half years later. If you want EVERYTHING though, you have to pay extra anyway. And you might as well since that's the only way you can access the online-connected versions of KI1 and 2 at all. It's kinda weird that Activision is getting pointed at for doing that with MW1 Remastered, but not at Microsoft for KI.
Please bring back smackdown sundays! I even have a few suggestions: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, Nitroplus Blasterz Heroines Infinite Duel, any of the Darkstalkers games, Arcana Hearts games, or if you can manage if not that's okay Jojo's Bizarre Adventures for the PS1/Dreamcast
This is old I know but can't find on google. Just ordered this I have a newer slim ps2 model. I hear it freezes. Is this true? Do you know? If so, how can I prevent that? Thx in advance
Guys awesome channel and been a big fan for years and also I'm grateful to hear you guys doing commentary. it's always fun. here are my ideas for you guys smackdown sundays....tekken 3, jet moto 1-3 and any of the gran turismo series.
Mortal Kombat is the reoccuring fighting series there on smack down sunday~ There is also a Sega Saturn version of this...loads slightly faster than the PS1 version to my experience...Though it could be the lack of content in it.
The MORTAL KOMBAT series from the 90's (like the "home version exclusive" MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY) is famous for its DIGITIZED ACTORS (with the exception of MORTAL KOMBAT 4 which is done in 3D), it's a PITY that MORTAL KOMBAT 4 was the LAST MK GAME to hit the ARCADES.
This is the first mortal kombat game I have ever played which wasn't bad but like Johnny said it has technicality issues. I played the classic series after this one though.
On the options menu this is PS1 only. You hold L1 L2 R1 R2 Up and it'll unlock the green question mark box you have to go in that order until the screen shakes. Should only take a couple seconds ^^
Out of all the MK games i've played, MK Trilogy was my first and favorite MK game Its every thing i love about the UMK3 with every character from the past 2 games and then some, even boss characters are playable (on PS1) This game will always have a special place in my heart when it come to fighting games. (Even if the game is unbalanced lol)
it can be turned on from the secret menu in the options section. if you're on the ps1, go to options, let it load & then hold the following buttons together: Up, R1, R2, L1, L2 the screen should shake which tells you that you've unlocked the secret menu (big question mark window) & there you can turn on the one button fatality etc.
