This was a terrific video, I love Sergeant rock as a kid as a 61-year-old adult I still buy them. I almost have them all now, this is a character who stories still stand up today. And I know a lot of folks my age or older, that have great memories of Sergeant rock and some of them still buy them to this day. I would recommend anyone who hasn’t read a Sergeant rock comic go back and find one I doubt you’ll be disappointed. Thanks for the video.

Just watched a YT blurb about Schwarzenegger getting tapped for it in the 90s, but he passed on it, then a decade later Tarentino was teased with the idea, and he was the one considering Bruce Willis. Who would have been awesome. I can't watch the last 'Die Hard' film without visions of Sgt. Rock dancing in my head. The blurbs title is something like 'Quentin Taranino's Sgt. Rock' or something like that.

He is my favorite funny book character and had attributes to live by: Loyal, respected his guys, a great leader and wouldn't order anyone in Easy Company do something that he wouldn't do. I also like his "super power: Killin' Nazis! i wrote Joe Kubert a fan letter a couple of years before he died, thanking him for all of his contributions throughout the years on that title. Don't know about anyone else but I believe I just found the perfect Fallout 4 character build. His comics were around during the time that the game was based and he's an awesome soldier as the game loosely implies that the male counterpart is the MC with him narrating at the beginning. Hand to hand, gun, crafting, and follower related perks will be a give in. With the last bit of this video I'd say the institute is not an option. Brotherhood, Railroad, and Acadia are uncertain allies where Children of Atom and Nuka Raiders are psychopathic enemies.

An odd thing about Sgt. Rock- creator Robert Kanigher consistently said in letter columns that Rock & the Joes of Easy Co. didn’t survive World War II; yet Sgt. Rock has been seen in several 1970s era The Brave and the Bold comics teamed up with Batman! And even then he Never got promoted; at least Marvel’s Nick Fury got a battlefield promotion during the Korean War, and was a full Colonel when he was picked to head SHIELD.

Well, Rock was a Master Sergeant ("MSG"). In WWII, MSG was the highest enlisted grade, a "Sergeant Major" then was a position a Master Sergeant might fill, in addition to things like Battalion Motor Sergeant or Regimental Operations or Intel Sergeant . . . or like Rock, commanding a specialty platoon (like an I&R Platoon) or a line platoon when there were not enough officers. Frank Rock was never depicted as a guy with a lot of formal education (as opposed to being perceptive and wise and perhaps a guy who liked to read with a book or two in his rucksack (like most good NCOs). Now part of his backstory was that his younger brother, Larry Rock, was a college grad who was commissioned in the USMC through NROTC (Penn State grad given the fact that the stories had the Rocks coming from Pittsburgh?) But not seemingly Frank's cup or tea . . . .

I don't want it to be portrayed just as another comic book movie but as dark and grim war movie done in the style of Saving Private Ryan, Hacksaw Ridge and Fury; these captured the true brutality of the Allie's fight against the Axis power. there are so many stories in both Marvel and DC around WW2 that a film or series of films could be made, they can even get currently existing and established characters in the cinematic universes involved, for DC if Spielberg can ever get his Blackhawk Squadron movie made, they can easily bring in other WW2 comic characters and use it as a starting point, you could bring back Wonder Woman, Sgt Rock and his squads (both human and monster), The Justice Society, the Suicide Squadron with Rick Flagg Sr., maybe make Vandal Savage as the main adversary (he does have a history with the Nazi in some comic versions) as for Marvel, you could bring back First Avenger Captain America and his squad The Howling Commandos, Red Skull, Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, i believe in some versions Nick Fury's father was part of Cap's unit, Wolverine also fought in WW2 and even with Captain America (before the Adamantium bones)... there is even stories of Count Dracula joining the allies to protect Transylvania

Classic character but one thing that always irritated me was how he was “in charge of” Easy Company, even though it was just one squad of soldiers you ever saw. An Army rifle company is around 100 to 150 soldiers. As an E-7 or E-8 he was the correct rank to be running a company (with an O-3 captain actually commanding), but an NCO that high up would not be wasted leading just 5 or 6 guys.

My understanding is that Bob Kanigher (like Stan Lee) served in the US Army in WWII, but never went overseas (unlike creators like Jack Kirby, Army Infantry scout in 3d Army, or Sam Glanzman, US Navy DDE crewman). However, Kanigher seemed to really understand the boredom and fear that are the soul of war and the endless repetition of events that you see in a war zone.

The History of SGT ROCK. During WW2, SGT Rock fought in the Infantry branch of the U.S. Army in the European Theatre and eventually rose to authority within his unit, Easy Company. The unit was made up of a disparate collection of individuals who managed to participate in every major action in the European war. Rock's dog tag number was 409966, which had been, the writer, Robert Kanigher's own Military serial number. Mr. Kanigher wrote that Rock belonged to "The Big Red One" 1st ID, given his appearance on battlefields in North Africa, Italy, and Northwest Europe. The back-story for Rock was fleshed out in different comics over the years; generally, he is considered to have come from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he worked in a steel mill. Enlisting after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he went to North Africa as a private, but promotion came quickly as his superiors were killed, to assistant squad leader, squad leader and then platoon sergeant. His unit is only ever given as "Easy Company,” but no regiment or division is named nor is unit insignia ever shown. Rock also wears the chevrons and rockers of a Master Sergeant on his uniform and applied, oversize, to the front of his helmet. Rock's official position in Easy Company was of senior platoon sergeant though dialogue and scripts are usually vague on his actual responsibilities and duties. He usually leads patrols and appears to have powers of command over the men of the company.

Frankenstein was the doctor not the monster.

That’s true, I remember one comic featuring the Creature Commandos in which the Monster is rather amused and a little annoyed at everyone calling him ‘Frankenstein’ but decides to accept that name and answers to it, being that the entire Frankenstein family has been long dead at this time.

@@cha5 probably because everyone almost always calls the monster Frankenstein. It's like people think Zelda is the hero when that's Link.

MY SUGGESTION FOR A (SARG. ROCK) SERIES & WHAT I IMAGINE IT MIGHT BE LIKE: I think it might be good to have a (SARGENT ROCK) cartoon show series get made someday. But I imagine that some parts of the storyline about (Sargent Rock) in a cartoon series would be slightly different. I imagine a scenario possibility; That (Sargent Rock) is the great grandson of a hero who worked with monsters, I imagine he is told this after surviving a numerous of fights in Afghanistan, and later fighting against North Korean enemies in a battle. In addition I imagine much later (Sargent Rock) teams up with monsters to fight against evil enemies who exists in the current era. Now I imagine the descendant of the Werewolf soldier from World War 2, is the one who joins the new set of monsters, who later team up with SARGENT ROCK, and I imagine later hears information about her great grandfather who fought in World War 2 with the previous team. To add I imagine that a female vampire who is the adoptive daughter of the World War 2, war hero vampire she joins the new team too, and I imagine that she is best friends with the great grandson of the monster from the Black Lagoon. In addition I imagine that Frankenstein’s monster who once fought in World War 2, he has given himself a name now, and I imagine that he was living a good time where he was secretly at until he came across a minion of a new evil threat. Plus I imagine after dealing with the minion he realized that there might be more coming, and so he would have to leave the place he is at, and start fighting again in a battle that might be in the works now.
