i think you need a thing called "Spar-Schäler" in german- it makes peeling so comfortable and you dont waste lots of carotts or potatoes. Unfortunatly I dont know what it is called in english, i try to find out. And i want to tell you again THANK YOU- this sirup-apple idea for the bakba..you should get a Nobel- Prize for it. its such a difference !
Aww thank you!! I would love the Nobel prize please for a new culinary category!!😂😬😂😬😬😂 I will try to find your super sonic peeler!! Humongous virtual hugs 🤗 coming your way as always Channa: thank you for being here!! You are MAGNIFICENT ❤️
I would like to see how do you serve your salads, they seem delicious, but most of them I never ate and wouldn't know how to pare them (like chukchuka - or how do you spell it 😅 - seems like some kind of a spread to me). Btw, what do you think about half boiling baby potatoes first? Just to make the peel soft so you could peel it easily with some small knife, you know what I mean? Oh, and how come you use veggie wash with green beans and not just water-vinegar wash like in video before? Thnx for every video, I find them to be my best part of the week. 😉 Shalom.
@@anakozic8498 good morning Ana! thank you so much for your kind words and your comment 🥰 so I will try to answer your question one by one it is a very good point to perhaps boil the potatoes a little bit for them to be peeled easier I would be concerned that they would become mushy what do you think? as per the vinegar wash it depends on how clean the green beans are if they are very clean usually a simple vinegar wash will do but these particular green beans were quite dirty and needed really a good wash 🧼 For the shukshuka I simply put it in a bowl like this nothing else or a small platter with a serving spoon it depends on the theme of my table for Shabbat🥰 I will try to show how I serve them: as I often explain I put out the salads just before eating our meals on Shabbat and this is why usually I do not show how I serve them but I can definitely try to show it with pleasure! I hope that I have answered your questions and if I missed one please let me know I would love to answer them ❤️ thank you so much again for being here, it means the world to me! sending you virtual hugs
We are a Jewish family, but not Orthodox. I appreciate most of your recipes and thank you for sharing. CHILDREN AND EATING: we live in the city, but we have a backyard. So, I took one triangle of land, had a friend make wooden signs - one for each grandchild - and we planted carrots, chives, strawberries, and tomatoes together. They each have their own garden with their choice of fruits and vegetables. And they share their bounty with each other, too! Whenever they come over, they check 'their' gardens, and now they eat carrots, chives, strawberries, and tomatoes! I think it is important for the young ones to know where their food comes from. It is easy to do and almost any backyard can give room for a little vegetable garden.
Hi Adria! I am happy you appreciate most of my recipes:) as per the children, i absolutely agree with you, making them part of the process of cooking or baking or planting ( we also have an organic garden where we planted last Sunday kohlrabi, bell peppers , hot peppers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and eggplant and will be planting carrots and beets soon BzH) there is such a sense of pride for the children to know that they were part of the process, they saw everything grow and they are now eating what they planted: it is a great moment of teaching about the Kindness G.od gives us: He is blessing us with so many yummy food in different shapes and colours and how it is a miracle with everything we planted for it to come to maturity! thank you again for writing to me today! have a blessed day PS your grand children are lucky to have you!
Hello sweet Stephanie ❤️ Your message touched me so deeply. You are right that shabbat preparation once completed brings such a peaceful energy in the house ! If I may, For the head covering, is there a reason you so not cover your hair anymore? I’m asking because I would love to help you🥰🥰🥰 Thank you again for your comment: you are absolutely amazing 🌟🌟🌟
@@frumitup God helped me understand the verse in 1 Corinthians 11:4-16. What I understand is that as man is not t cover his head in prayer and it is a diahonor to him to have long hair. Just like a woman must cover and her long hair is given to her as a covering. A man having long hair dishonors his head BECAUSE long hair is the covering for a woman to glorify God.
Me too. especially the Shabbat prep. Very often, because my children live away and I'm alone, all I do is light. I'm a widow so I don't need to cover and I'm in a non Jewish area so I would stand out (or people think I'm having chemo chas v'sholem)
More Shabbat prep please. This is reminding me to cook more. While I am not Jewish, this food looks so amazing. And reminds me that even in a busy life one can cook..
I am not Jewish, but I am soon to be a new nurse and wife. I have gotten so many tricks from your videos for how to balance work and home. Thank you for your videos!!!!!
I am a Christian who loves watching your channel! These dishes look fantastic and I think I will try them myself. Thank you for teaching non-Jews like me the meaning behind many of your customs and traditions! God bless you and your family!
More Shabbat prep! I am not Jewish but I love the culture. I love to eat but I'm a widow and I work so I feel justified in going out to eat and I do enjoy leftovers. I love watching you create beautiful, wholesome and tasty food.
More shabbat prep! I often have Jewish family to visit during shabbat, and it's so nice to have proper food prepared with love and care -- especially creating dishes that are not part of my family's culture. Full bellies make for the gentlest, humor-filled, evenings.
Hello my sweet new friend ! your message made me smile from ear to ear 😁specially as one of my daughters is also nine so it was hard for me not to think of her when I was reading your message and to be honest I don’t think she would have had the courage to write a message like you did right now because she is so shy!! if you or your mom need any help with the recipes please let me know I would love to help ! until next time I will wish you and your mommy Shabbat Shalom
Thanks (Todah Rabba) for this. I am an Orthodox Jew that has moved from Los Angeles, CA to Meridian, MS recently. I have my own home here. However, I am also the only Orthodox Jew here. So, the only food I have for Shabbat is what I make myself. Thanks again. This means so much. Especially since I work and am not married. HaShem bless you with continued success, paranosa, Emunah, Shalom and all your needs and dreams. Shabbat Shalom.
I have to say, I'm finding your recipes so wonderful for my very specific allergies! I'm allergic to wheat, dairy and eggs. And so many Kosher meals meet all my health needs 🥰 the Kosher symbols give me that extra feeling of safety, but also I no longer feel like I'm missing out or sacrificing for my meals/snacks 😍 love your content!
You make pretty videos, so cheerful and well photographed. I used to have an organic garden and froze piles of beets. When they are cooked, the skins just slip off; perhaps scrape with the edge of the knife blade held at right angles if skins stick a bit. The beet stains usually came off when I was doing dishes by hand. And baby taters are delicious skin and all; lots of vitamins there.
Your home always must smell so lovely during these holidays. I was raised a born again Christian but as an adult I don't practice myself personally but I feel we are all gods children no matter what we believe and what ever you practice is beautiful either way and the hoildays are always a lovely time in my home as well. Between all the homemade meals and company we share I can feel the love just through watching you prepare and talk about why it's done the way it is. It's humbling to learn something else about how others different from oneself live but still have the similar grounding beliefs. I appreciate what you say at the end of each video as well. ♡♡
What a lovely channel. Your videos are informative and interesting. But what keeps me coming back is your loving kindness. Thank you for your hard work!
Hi Ginny! Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly truly LOVE Shabbat and I want for my children to love it too and since my mom always told me that to keep interest everything sticks better with a good meal: weeeeeellllll let’s just say I put her words in practice every Shabbat! Thank you again for your comment and please let me know if you have any questions Wishing you and your family a blessed day Ginny❤️❤️❤️
I am a Christian and I absolutely adore your videos. I love learning all about your culture and traditions. It is beautiful. You make me want to wear a lovely head scarf. You always sound so joyful! 🌷🙂
Hi Sara! Thank you so much for your amazing question 🙋♀️ to be honest from the beginning to the end it took about two hours/ two hours and 15 minutes because these recipes go so well together like pieces of a puzzle and therefore I lose very little time waiting for something to cook because I am using the oven and the stove top at the same time it is a very efficient Shabbat meal prep IMO ! if you have any questions please let me know thank you again for being here it means the world to me and until next time I will wish you and your family a Shabbat Shalom
Thank you for explaining your beliefs with us. I’ve never known an Orthodox Jew and was so confused. I thought all of the things you must do would lead to a miserable existence. But I’ve learned from your videos that these things make you happy and feel closer to our Creator. I thank you for expanding my mind and heart. Bless you!
Im not Jewish, but you can cook for me anytime! You use whole, healthy foods, and your joy in taking care of your family comes through loud and clear! I hope they know how lucky they are!
Hallo! Thank you for sharing your wonderful culture. I am an Italian, and one thing we all have in common is loving family and food. Beautiful effort and care. God bless.
I love cooking too! I cook all my own food. About 85% of everything I eat I make myself. I'm thinking of becoming a chef. I'd like to work in the hospital kitchen or the senior center kitchen. I'm working with a department to get back to work. I've been out of work for years bc I have sever anxiety. The medication I'm taking is helping. My favorite food to eat that I don't cook at home is carne asada burritos from the taco trucks. I love Mexican food! I was glad to see in another video that you and your family have sushi sometimes! I also love sushi. Peace!
for beet stains cut a potato into two pieces, sprinkle it with salt and use it as a bar of soap. Then rinse well with cold soapy water. Shalom from Italy. Silvia
Baking soda paste gets rid of beet stains =). That confit oil (and everything for Shabbat)! looks so delicious! Thank you for your wonderful generosity and positivity sharing your Shabbat with us xo
I just found your channel and absolutely love your videos. Your voice is so calming but I can also hear your positivity and love of family. You have answered many questions I have had about Jewish customs and traditions that I would never ask. Sending you blessings and hugs from Texas. God bless. 🥰
It is wonderful to see people who cook from "scratch" I am always surprised when I go to the store and see all the pre-packaged meals, and how many people rely on someone else to make a relatively easy dish or meal. I think the rice or wheat dish would be good as a side dish, it is easy to make and I love using the cooking bags.
Hello my sweet friend❤️🥰 How are you my lovee 🥰? I understand you I always look At the pre-cooked Mac and cheese and I ask myself whyyyyyy?? Lol 😆 But Sometimes we do take out too: sometimes life gets very busy so I’m always grateful to have that option too of all these prepped meals 😂 I never tried the wheat as a side dish but I completely see how it would work ! Thank you again for being absolutely FABULOUS ❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe and blessed Wishing you a Shabbat shalom sweet sweet friend❤️🥰❤️🥰
@@frumitup I understand having to rely on something like that. Back in the 80s' there was a book written entitled "Make a Mix Cookbook" they gave the recipe for master mixes, like bisquick for example. I knew what went into the mixes and could control the ingredients, no preservatives! This works if it is something you cook all the time.
All of that garlic made me smile. 😁 I really enjoyed watching yet another video from you. So informative...and everything you prepared looked so delicious. Thank you. 😁
You may have already covered this in other videos, but I would love to know exactly what Shabbat is, along with all the other celebratory holidays. From my very limited understanding, I was told Shabbat is like the equivalent to Sundays for Christians. Even before your videos, I obviously knew there was more to it than that. You're so good at explaining things in a way that I and many others, understand it would be great for you to explain us, please and thank you! More Shabbat prep! ❤
Hi Aida! Thank you so much for taking time to write to me this beautiful comment! I am delighted your daughter found my channel ( please thank her for me🥰🥰🥰) If you ( or your daughter) have any questions: I would live to help you both! Until next time , wishing you and your family a blessed week🥰
I discovered an heirloom green bean from 1880s Germany: Landreth Stringless. I have no yard so I grow them in 5 gal buckets. The tenderest most flavorful bean-- my young niece and nephew were thrilled watchiing them come up quick and produce heavily. There were beans enough for 3-5 people every 1-3 days from July to October. Rare Seeds carrys them or check a local farmers market. Kid friendly super tasty. And straight peeler on swivel. As yougest of 5 my job was veggie peeler-- fastest peeler I know of. Peace and Blessings, my friend. I love learning so much from your videos!
More Shabbat Prep! 🥰 I’ll bet your home smells wonderful from all your cooking! It all looks so delicious. I’m a straight peeler girl, and I do put gloves on to peel beets. Take care.
Hi Amie !! thank you so much for your kind words I am happy that you are wearing gloves to peel your beets as for me I can’t do it I seriously cut myself every time!! thank you again for being here for leaving such a beautiful comment and if you have any questions please do not hesitate I’m right here for you until next time I will wish you a Shabbat shalom
Enjoy your videos . I got stuck at work till 5pm Friday then had to run to store for Salmon and back home to cook. Ughhhh I was happy I somehow got it done with my daughters help. I should buy a crock pot. Seems like a help.

I’m not Jewish but I love your videos and your positive attitude. Given everything I don’t know how you do it but you do it! You and you’re family are wonderful.
More Shabbat prep!!! I just love your channel and am in awe of the way you do it all with so much love. When my son was about 11 he was complaining about supper. I informed him that the most famous chefs in the world are men and invited him to plan and prepare a healthy meal. He did and he and his younger brother devoured it. I so enjoy preparing for Shabbat with your help. Thank you and Shabbat Shalom!
Hello my sweet sweet friend! Thank you so much for your kind comments and I love how you included your sons in the cooking and baking process and they enjoyed it so much more I think that perhaps they find a certain pride in their work I think it’s a beautiful life lesson that you have given to both of your sons thank you again so much for being here it means the world to me and of course if you have any questions please let me know as I would LOVE to help you Until next time I will wish you a Shabbat Shalom my friend🥰
More please, I am 🇵🇷 from Brooklyn NY, Been living in FL for 2 years and miss my Jewish people from Brooklyn NY, I learn to eat a lot of Jewish food and love it.
Good morning Josephine ! thank you so much for your kind words I am happy that you are finding inspiration in the videos❤️ I love how you wrote MY Jewish people from Brooklyn: it shows so much warmth 🥰🥰🥰 please let me know if you have any questions until next time stay safe and stay blessed
In my family, snapping and stringing green beans was a whole day task. The menfolk would bring the bean haul from the garden and the women and children would sit around a big picnic table to snap and string. Washing them in cold salted water would come after. Garden soil and critters could find their way inside the bean by way of the blossom. Salted water leaches everything out of the bean and gets them ready for canning. I miss those days as a child in West Virginia, visiting my grandparents.
Thank you for the Zyliss peeler recommendation. Swiss peelers are the absolute best. I needed a new one, and I didn't know where to get another authentic Swiss vegetable peeler. Now I do. Thank you.
You are so sweet Christy, thank you soooo much for being here and being so supportive! It means so much to me ❤️ Stay safe and blessed my sweet Christy 🥰
Awww thank you Susan! I think positive traditions and values are a must to help a family stay “in the straight and narrow” ! Would That make sense to you? Thank you again for your kind words and to be a positive light in my day❤️
We do exactly the same cake in the same form! This is exciting. We also make it marble, but by separating the piece of dough and putting the coca powder in it and we pour this coloured dough onto the top.
@@frumitup Yes, the easiest one and very popular. I love the icing you have made, maybe in another video. The pink one. I must try it😍 I wish you very nice new week!
Hello my sweet Jane! Thank you for your comment and this great idea to pickle you beets! I want to try it for sure BzH! Thank you again from being here and Always be so supportive: it means so much to me ❤️
I know this video is old but I love that style of peeler! I use it for almost everything. I find it much easier to handle, and I recommend it to anyone who has kids that are learning to cook because it grips the produce better and you have less chance of slipping that way.
More Shabbat prep. Hi Sara-Malka. It was so good to have you back!! You were deeply missed last week!! Everything looked so delicious as always. I now have recipes for things I've never heard of and am excited to try. I loved your onion hack and the paper towel to carry it. When I was little, even if I only put one ingredient in a bowl, I felt like I made the whole thing myself and I definitely thought it was the best thing I've ever eaten 😂. Without realizing it, I learned so much doing that. I realized it when I was an adult and found myself doing the same things that Mom and Grandma did. I have never seen tomato paste in a tube!! I will definitely look for it. If I can't find it, I have what you showed us about freezing it in squares. I would have never thought of that. Have a wonderful Shabbat and I'll see you next week ❤️❤️
Hi Claudia thank you so so much for your comments they just warm up my heart I have to say that every week I always peak and I always hope to see your comments and I’m always so delighted to read them thank you for sharing your story with me I love it and I hope that when you try the paper towel hack for the onions it works as well for you that it does for me please let me know if you have any questions and I would love to know how your recipes turn out until next time sending you warm and loving hugs and heartfelt Shabbat Shalom
Gosh all of these recipes look wonderful. I can’t wait to try them. Thank you for sharing them and for your kindness overall. So fun to see kiddos learning the satisfaction of cooking early. Best to you!
Good morning my friend ❤️ thank you so much for your kind words please let me know if you need any help with the recipes 🫕 I absolutely agree with you seeing the kids participate in the preparation of Shabbat is magical ! until next time stay safe and stay blessed
Awww Michelle: your comment is the BEST EVER!! Thank you so much for your kind words: they really mean so much to me! Please let me know if you have questions or need any help ❤️ Stay safe and blessed my friend🥰
Hey Sara Why don't you use the carotpeeler to peel the potatoes as well? It would save you a lot of time🙂. We in Switzerland do it that way🙂 I love watching your videos. They inspire me in such a good way. Thank you🙏🌠
Hello Tooper! Thank you sooooo much for your kind words❤️ I would love to help you if you have any questions or need help! Thank you again for being here : in my book you are absolutely phenomenal ❤️❤️
More shabbat prep! I love them!! I also cracked up with the 'I love my husband, I love my children' repetition while peeling tiny baby potatoes, ahahaha!! So true! I have to keep telling myself that while doing many things around the house too, it really does help, hahahaha!
Love using the tomato sauce in a tube. Its so convenient!!! I like the Tuscanini one. Its so easy to reseal and put away for later use. More shabbat prep!
Hello sweet neighbour ❤️ I agree! Tomato paste makes super easy and convenient: at the same time: 2x the price of canned tomatoes 🥫: imo totally worth it for that extra peace of mind!! Shavua tov mon amie❤️❤️❤️ Thank you again for being here, it means the world to me🥰
@@frumitup the price is def a deterrent. When we have canned tomatoe paste, we put the left overs in a ice cube tray sprayed with pam. Once frozen we put them in bags (1 tablespoon per cube)
@@Rochelny I did this until my sister taught me an easier way. Put the leftover paste in a plastic bag. Zip it closed, pressing out the air. Flatten the bag. Using the edge of a ruler, press a grid into the bag. I like to eyeball tablespoon portions. Freeze. To use, break off as much as you need. You can make lots of pesto at one time when the basil is going crazy. Then use the ice cube tray method or the plastic bag method for freezing that, too.
You are amazing! I am LDS not Jewish but I love learning about your culture and have the deepest respect. I plan to make a lot of your dishes for my family. They look so delicious.
Hi Kim thank you so so much for your comment it just makes me so happy and humbled at the same time when someone like you realizes that making these videos every week is really a challenge so for you to notice it and to acknowledge it means a lot to me: thank you so much for that❤️❤️❤️ please let me know if you have any questions I would love to help you until next time I will wish you a Shabbat Shalom and thank you so much for being a beautiful positive energy in this world
