I have caught shad up till July 4th if the count is 10 to 15K through the dam on the 3rd of July, I am going to try for the 4th this year. Was there May 31 gave away about 20 lost about 20 and took home 30. Been fishing there since 1989 lots of fun. Stay safe.
There were a lot of fun to catch between end of May to beginning of July at Bonneville dam. If you want to catch more Shad, you should go to John Day dam and Mcnary dam for late July. Thanks.
Not only the sturgeons chasing Shad but also 3 or 4 seals and 5 eagles were catching those shad at the dam. Fun to watch because they were caught better me. Thanks.
