DrunkenGoose I use ultralights with 4 or 6# test and that's it. I don't bother with a leader other than the rig and I ti that with 10# test usually so I can lift the fish by the rig without it breaking. Thank you for watching! What about sinker weight ? Where you place a sinker. Fishing from the bank I might have to get my spoon and dart out pretty far and down deep where the shad are.
Charles Jackson If you need a sinker put it on the bottom and tie a double dropper for darts or spoons. Most of the shad we catch are from the mid water column to the just below the surface so I'd keep it light. I was bank fishing last week and did fine with no weight, ultralight rod and probably only 20-25yd casts. Thank you for watching. @@scottnra Very interesting, Thanks Scott. I'll give this a shot. Most of the guys here in Trenton, NJ use a trolling sinker between the main line and at least a foot and a half leader with the shad spoon on the bottom. I'm gonna try both ways, sometimes a different presentation can make a big difference.
@spencernix3332 glad it helped. Shad fishing is a lot of fun and a great light tackle fight. Thanks for the comment and I hope you subscribed. We have a lot more fishing coming up soon! Xiaojun Chen This is the kind of rig I use. It has a dart and a shad spoon. 1/8 or 3/16 will help you cast better and they like a fast jerky retrieve. amzn.to/35urdRF Thank you for watching. There are stronger knotts for sure but using light line, this will do what the line can handle and it's pretty well known and easy to tie. A Polamar would be next choice.
Chris Cohoon just like you see it there. nothing added and they attack it. These are my new favorite. You get the action of the dart and flash of the spoon! amzn.to/3uiSchT Thank you for watching! Gary Hartung I'm not sure what size hooks are on the darts and spoon but they are small. Shad darts and shad spoons are all going to be in about 3 sizes and they all work. THe spoons about 1" I think are best. Thank you for watching!
