Shades Variations La Bayadere - Stashkevich Tikhomirova & Alizade 

These three variations are so difficult! Especially 1 and 2. The dancers did a beautiful job with that devilish choreography! Exquisite compilation!

Fairly often there's not much to differentiate between the three shades. Here we get energy, precision and on-the-beat musicality from Stashkevich, a thoughtful performance filled with majestic grace from Tikhomirova, and quiet interiority with a final flourish from Alizalde. Thank you, as ever for this compilation which I played quite a few times.

It is mesmerizing to watch these beautiful fairy-tale dances.

La Bayadere is one of my favorite ballets. The ballerinas are perfect and variations too. A joy to watch.

It would be fantastic to see these extraordinary and gorgeous dancers live on stage, Alizade, Stashkevich and Tikhomirova for sure ❤❤❤❤❤! I love all of them ❤️! Stashkevich for her 'Diana y Actaeon! And Tikhomirova's Folie Coppélia Act 3! For this Shades Variation, I particularly love Tikhomirova's arms and hands movements, tilt of the head nuances, her overall joyous performance ❤. Thank you, just lovely. I’ve always thought that the choreographer who wrote these particular dances hated someone from the Corp de Ballet. They are so hard to get timing right. The first girl Stashkevich ( apologies if I messed that up) absolutely nailed it! So beautifully done. I’d like to see the 3 of them in different dances. I’ll take note of their names . All three are lovely ballerinas, very representative of Bolshoi style. And excellent casted in these lovely variations. I cannot recall better more recent performances of these variations in Bolshoi, I would welcome any suggestions, but the tempo of the third variation better not be slower 😅

I don’t know if you have noticed that in pas de trois with variations and all ballerinas have a type cast? For instance, if you do the second Shade you’ll probably also do second Odalisque (maybe third once in a while). I’ve always done second variation (3rd Odalisque a few times) but never first. The first variation is usually about speed and petit allegro, the second requires a lot of stamina because of grand allegro, it’s almost always the longest and the fact that you’ll play a bigger role in the coda, the last one is usually the one to impress the audience and usually that ballerina will dance less.
