Thank you so much for these videos! I'm uber excited to move on. Shadows and making things look more life-like are a big problem for me. I feel very unsure of where the shadows would be when I'm unfamiliar with an image and am afraid I'm not consistent with the direction of the light source throughout the entire image. I'm really hoping this will help and looking forward to the upcoming videos, getting more advanced, and being able to incorporate what I've learned into my work. :)
@@CopicintheCraftRoom thanks but I want my art to look realistic just like anyones. I don't want my art to be plain and simple as some art stuff, I want them to still be grim just like me in every way, because that's how I see the terrible passed growing up with my mom, I'll never forgive her for she's done to me as a child. 😟😟😟😟
Hi Thanks so much - this is very helpful. I'm going to practice with just this set of shapes and different light sources. One question though, when Colleen did the apple in the first video, did a very thin line of dark on the light side of the apple. You haven't done that here and I am wondering why not?
Great question! This is your "starter" set once you have this down there are all sorts of details like reflected light cast shadows and other pieces to shading that you can add. Also when each of us learn to shade shapes we learn it slightly differently. Once you have the basics down my best piece of advice is to LOOK at an object and look for those slight variations of light and shadow on it's surface.
Rigmor Olsson Colleen is still working with our team, but she is working on writing curriculum and teacher education materials now. Thanks for asking, and thanks for watching!
