Trench Crusade is the brainchild of Ex-Games Workshop games designer Tuomas Pirinen (Mordheim, Warhammer Fantasy 6th edition, bunch of lore books for Fantasy & 40k). Also, it fit the idea of basic skill that are required to engaged with the game (e.g. aiming in FPS, movement in platformer) but past a point gets diminishing returns (e.g. if you produce 3x more unit than your opponent, strategy won't matter but if you're even it will). (25m) summing up his experience consulting for indie RTS, polling from his (mostly casual) RTS community and general view on the RTS genre. To roughly sum it up, there is still a healthy RTS community. Regarding your definition of socialism at 40:00. If you can remember some references, I'd like to see what led you to your conclusions here. When you descibe it as such its easier to understand how national socialism was sold to Germany. A state in services to the society in service to the nation. And thats fascism. Its decidedly more honest about how we constructed our societys in the past and how we might do so in the future.

I feel like your definition of socialism is just republicanism or even just liberalism. Your application of this definition entirely to broad, your argument about oligarchies fitting under this definition means that feudal monarchies would also fit with a similar reasoning. But if you are talking about republican/enlightenment thought then it makes sense. The term socialism indeed existed before Marx and Engels. In "The Principles of Communism" Engels mentioned a type of socialist that wants to go back to the communal ways of old, but also states that these people are not real socialists but just reactionaries. I think that socialism refers to basing society around the principle of solidarity. This definition does exclude the current form of capitalism and oligarchies but does include in a weird way the national socialists.
