defense is important not a much different of attack when you step back have something to attack while you stepping backward leave something to attack i keep this in my mind, i always visualize a guy hitting me even when i punch heavy bag since i did this my eyes start to catch some strike other opponent is hitting without a mind set cannot fight back shadow is very important, thank you coach anthony thank you man

Hey coach, in my gym i get hit a lot and not just light punches, i got the feelin like they just wanna beat me up, i dont learn how to defend correctly or see punches comin at me except of learning by doin, like they throw the punches and i get used to it. But i dont want to end up like muhammad ali in his 70s in my early 40s or so. Also my coach takes it very personal if i dont make it exactly like he said in the first lesson i learned something new, he says its disrespectful or he saying that im not listening to him but thats not true. I want to learn boxing and its my last chance in this gym. Im from germany and loving your videos, but cant build your stuff into my training, especially your beginner videos are very good and good to understand. I wish i had a coach like you man. Can you maybe give me some tips i would very appreciate it.

Hey coach I have this problem in where I hit the bag, do my sparring, or whatever it is I don’t have awareness in terms of thinking before i throw my punches, I know boxers would say it should come naturally, but for me i prefer to think before i punch as i am more aware of what’s happening around me, I noticed in sparring that I’m punching for the sake of punching which i don’t like, it makes it harder to think of a plan or tactic to use... even when i shadow box i tend to lose visualisation of an opponent as i can’t imagine a person in front of me anyone, is there anything i can do to revert back to what I’m used to because I’m having my first fight in 4-6 weeks from now... is there any mental drills i could use that could help me?

What he said about defense that’s the first thing I started training. Offense is the easiest to learn but there are tons of world level pros who get kod because of there lack of defense. Gamboa vs Crawford is a good example of this. Also defense is funner to learn in my opinion lol idk why.

Wish I had Coach Anthony's coaching when I was competing. I was lucky enough to train at the Byrd Gym in Flint Michigan before Chris Byrd went to Los Vegas. I did hundreds of rounds with Pat and Tim Byrd as they were my weight class at the time but I honestly think that watching Coach Anthony's boxing video has given me so many pointers that took me rounds and rounds to learn( the hard way) over 35 years of boxing. Any one reading this needs to take notes and practice and/or buy Anthony's videos. He has so many little Gems hidden in each video and when he says he should not be giving you all his secrets he is not lying. All the old good coaches did not just hand you the answers they would make a comment here or tell you to do this or that. Sometimes telling you why other times not or while you taking a beating in the ring. The old coaches protected their knowledge like it was was gold(which it is). I am training my 3 kids 15,13,12 in the sweet science of boxing and I am studying Coach Anthony's videos to refresh/ learn what i do in the ring by instinct . Coach Anthony's Video's are the best that I have found on youtube, Keep up the great work Coach. Ray Sayers

i think he should do a video on stealing other peoples style and moves...i have some nice techniques from mike tyson...some methods and movement from ali...some check hooks and straight right from floyd...some instant jabs from hearns....some flurrys from sugar ray...some head movement from tyson...some in out from andre ward...you godda watch these guys carefully and steal the show....practice it slow and then incorporate that shit.
