He was the luckiest one if the bee gees and the Gibb brothers. He was the Best looking Gibb He had an amazing voice Amazing guitar skills And could perform amazing.
@@kaymuldoon3575 He was so naturally talented, it was amazing. I remember seeing an episode of Gimme A Break where Andy and Nell Carter sing a duet of Up Where We Belong. It's absolutely beautiful.
Andy Gibb was performing solo. He did perform on stage with The Bee Gees occasionally. He was even announced to join The Bee Gees but he passed away soon after. So officially they never performed as one band ...
They were inspired by black artists like the Delfonics and the Stylistics. Because both lead singers of that group sang in falsetto. William Hart was the lead singer of the Delfonics. Russell Thompkins,Jr. was the lead singer of the Stylistics.
@user-yb4ve3yn5k HE crashed and burned in full view of the public and tabloids. WHAT EVER happened to Andy Gibb ? he fell into obscurity. God I hate those kind of stories.
This is how I know the singers of this era are way better then what we have now….Because Andy Gibb came out in a white sweat shirt and black jeans with tennis shoes and still rocked the mic❤
The heart hurts when I think of what happened to him. He was so good and yet he lost it all and his life. His family suffered along as well. RIP Andy!!!!!
@@kellypatterson9456 As per Wiki, “At around 8:30 am on 10 March 1988, Gibb's doctor informed him more tests were needed to determine the cause of his chest pains. Shortly afterward, Gibb slumped into unconsciousness and died as a result of myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle most likely caused by a virus. Years of cocaine abuse also weakened his heart.” He did not commit suicide.
@@kellypatterson9456 Except he didn't actually commit suicide or, as is commonly thought, overdose himself; he actually died of what is called myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart that occurred after years of drug abuse. He had kicked his drug habit some years ago, but the damage was done.
No había nada!
@@shirlcotterhill7218 I know!, what I meant is that some singers know they don’t have too much talent and then they use too many distractions ( doesn’t mean all the singers who have dancers don’t have voices...)
This song was #1 in the US for 7 weeks. Followed by 3 more #1's. And sadly, he always believed he was overshadowed by his brothers. His death truly was tragic. This song remains #49 on the Billboard ALL TIME hot 100 singles list.
Coke was extremely strong in Miami back then...makes anybody get spun out .If Andy gibb didn't get all tweaked out on it like he did he would have been alright ..it took him away like it did many many people back in those days
I dont think he minded being overshadowed. They are his elders. Plus Barry wrote this song & they sing on it so they were all part of his career also. I dont think they were competing for the same audience as Andy was very much a teen pop idol superstar. Maybe thats what he didnt like cause it means you dont get taken as seriously & your shelf life can be shorter. Teens are fickle. But I dont think he resented his brothers.
@E N He really had his own thing going pretty good like you said .lm sure he was very happy to have everything all layed our for him by his brother's and especially Robert stigwood who played a huge role in the success of the bee gees and Andy's recording career
Barry said Andy was his twin...in looks, outlook, everything. Tragic he died so young. Tragic Mo and Rob also died. Not the same without the Gibb boys.
@@bethvirginiaphillips4583 I thought it was just the cocaine abuse that did eventually did his heart in; never realized there was also a congenital heart condition.
@@kaymuldoon3575 I don't think anyone knew about it in the family. Odd that Maurice and Robin both had the congenital problem with their intestines which led to their deaths.
He was very talented I agree but this success is very much due to Barry Gibb too the man wrote songs the way most people pick their nose, without any difficulty.
I was a teenager when this song came out. It takes everything I have to not make the tears run. Such a beautiful voice and persona. Andy and his brothers' talents are exactly opposite of what we have in front of us today. The Bee Gees/Gibb brothers probably had no idea that years down the road, that they would have left such an impact on us with feelings and sentiment. I am especially impressed by the Latino people who have left such nice comments on this post. It shows you who has deep meaningful feelings. Thank you everyone for coming together to reminisce about better times. Thank you - Andy, Barry, Robin and Maurice....We love you!

I remind myself I was only five at the time, so I have an excuse. At one time, I believed the Gibbs were; Maurice, Robin, and Andy. Basically, I thought Andy and Barry were the same person! Then they fell-off the map in the 1980s and I pretty much forgot about them, until watching a Bee Gees special about ten years later. Then, who I think is Andy said "Oh yes, it was terrible when our brother Andy died." I'm like 'WTF?' lol Then I learned there were actually four Gibb Brothers, Andy being the youngest
@tgermanful Love your post.❤️❤️❤️ Sometimes, it was really hard to tell them apart. Especially in close-up pictures as Barry was a lot taller and heavier than Andy. These two actually looked more like twins than Mo and Robin.😁😁😁
yes Andy does look like his brother Barry and sounded like him actually their voices always blended in so well with one another , a very talented family
It’s weird how when I was growing up I didn’t really find him attractive but now that I’m older and he’s a young dude he actually looks beautiful, attractive and am enjoying the memories of his songs 😄
Extremely talented and genuinely nice guys. They had some issues(who doesn't?)but the quality of the brothers Gibb is rare and I speak for millions when I say we still love them and listen to their music. Forever in our hearts.❤
The beauty of Barry's lyrics, the groovy and yet mellow baseline, and Andy's vocals makes this a modern masterpiece. I hope I live long enough to hear another talent like the Bee Gees, though it doesn't seem likely.
You got me looking at that heaven in your eyes I was chasing your direction I was telling you no lies And I was loving you When the words are said, baby, I lose my head And in a world of people, there's only you and I There ain't nothing come between us in the end How can I hold you when you ain't even mine Only you can see me through I leave it up to you Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more All that I need is just one moment in your arms I was chasing your affection I was doing you no harm And I was loving you Make it shine, make it rain, baby I know my way I need that sweet sensation of living in your love I can't breath when you're away, it pulls me down You are the question and the answer am I Only you can see me through I leave it up to you Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more And in this world of people there's only you and I There ain't nothing come between us in the end Ah, can I hold you when you ain't even mine Only you can see me through I leave it up to you Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more Do it light, taking me through the night Shadow dancing, baby you do it right Give me more, drag me across the floor Shadow dancing, all this and nothing more
I had the Shadow Dancing Album and this song ( by FAR) was his BEST song on the album. I just loved listening to it. It was SO beautiful!! Beautiful man just gone WAY too soon. R.I.P. Andy ❤❤❤
Andy Gibb, was my first big crush. I saw him in concert twice, but never got to meet him face-to-face. His voice and songs were wonderful. I loved him so much. You are missed, but never forgotten. Rest In Peace, Andy 💔💔🙏🙏
You were taken away from us at a very young age. RIP Andy Gibb you will always be in my heart ❤. Such a powerful singer. I will always love your music 🎶.
Well, he made wrong choices in dabbling in drugs which took over his life. He HAD CHOICES and could have changed, but unfortunately he's character was too weak to say no to drugs. Regardless he was a great singer and a good soul ❤️

Andy was a sexy and beautiful young man here just coming in to his own, and Andy knew exactly how to work it have the girls screaming soon as he walks out and the music starts he starts shaking his little butt even turning around for all us girls to watch him shake it, he was a great talent with a beautiful voice and looks just like his 3 brothers...
benatural16 I Know I wish he had lived longer too, but than I wish MO and Robin had lived longer also, but I would have liked to see if Andy would have still looked so much like Barry the older he got, it really doesn't matter does it they were all 4 handsome and very talented men..
vickie OAKES If ARG had lived longer; I think he would have definitely gotten sexier as he got older. Additionally, his music career would be back on track & he would dedicate much of his time to being a songwriter. Sadly, we will never know. All we have r thoughts of what could have been. ARG LV U SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!
mrs Andy Gibb I really don't care for people that come on here and say they are married to someone famous when everyone knows Andy died a single man, go get the mental help you so badly need please..
I WISH HE KNEW HOW MANY PEOPLE LOVED HIM!!!! I HAD A BIG POSTER OF HIM IN MY BEDROOM!!! I’d play this and dance with him!!! I EVEN KISSED HIM MANY TIMES!!!! I CRIED FOR DAYS WHEN HE DIED!!!!! And the way he did…. HE WAS TRYING TO BE AS POPULAR AS HIS BROTHERS!!!! HE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN IT MORE TIME CAUSE HE WAS AWESOME ALONE!!!❤❤ and 😢😢😢
amazing song, i remember heard in 1978, i was 8, our generation was so lucky with that music. RIP Andy
Written by his brothers (Bee Gees) this huge disco hit became one of the most successful songs of the whole '70s era. Talented Andy Gibb sang this beautiful song back in 1978 and reached the number one spot in US for seven weeks! A true disco classic!
Seems like George Michael studied this presentation and styling completely, anyone agree?! Even the way he holds the mike when performing! (Thats without mentioning the more obvious - hair etc) And I guess it worked for GM too!
A great talent!!! A magic voice!!! A wonderful and magic song!!! Unforgettable memories came into my life listening this marvelous music!!! I was a child but I still remember this amazing song 🇻🇪🎼❤️👏🎶🌹🤗
I LOVE this song!!!! So many songs can take you back to a particular moment in time and this song does exactly that. It brings me back to summer day camp. Wow, I really miss the 70s and wish I could re-live it all over again. AWESOME CHILDHOOD MEMORIES ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'll let you in on something young lady. You will relive them. In less than 3 months we are going to be living heaven on earth, it's called GESARA/NESARA. We won't need nostalgia and the lonely feeling it gives us, we will be living it in real time. Check it out. Phil
Music Queen...You have spoken the truth! Ah man...to go back to that era with what I know now would be fantastic! Watching Soul Train and American Bandstand on a Saturday morning and then running out buying your "favorite" song on that 45' with the center piece in the middle lol! at 58, I still love going to the club, dressed sharp, smelling good and wearing polished shoes. How did we get to where we are now? Awful, really! Here's to a new year, MQ!
@@ericv2574 YES, Saturday mornings in the 70s were EVERYTHING!!! Cartoons, Soul Train at 11:00am followed by America Bandstand at noon. Then it was off in the car to go food shopping with our parents. What a treasure it was to have been a 70s child. Happy New Year to you and your family.
@@musicqueen6617 Oh Wow, MQ! Your memory is sharp as a tack! Don't forget the record albums. And wall posters all over your bedroom with EWF, SOS Band, Zapp, Rick James, Jackson's, Teena Maria...the list can go on. Also, I was new in the country. So many memories. MQ...what part of the country you live in? I'm in Seattle.
@glittertalkmedicalavocatin7939 I was around in those wonderful years. Andy Gibb was about as big a heartthrob as you are ever going to see. And those string of top 10s. And hosting specials and SOLID GOLD. that kid had it all as far as success in the entertainment business.
Totally... Barry must have been so proud of his younger brother, at least as long as he didn't feel like he was copying him too closely. In this performance even more than most, Andy looks and moves like he's Barry's understudy just in case something happened to Barry.
1988 a day after he passed away they were talking about his death on a radio station i called in to request shadow dancing. The DJ said hey let me put you on the air, i said yea ok. He put me on the air i requested the song and the morning crew made fun of me singing in a bee gees voice until i hung up. They then went on to say who is this guy thinking we are going to play that
Wow, still...this song makes me want to dance. And although I was very young when he sang this song, I was old enough to realize how beautiful he was. And I'm not meaning just his looks. I'm meaning his aura, his moves, and his beautiful smile, and absolutely the way that he sang. 💔😘❤
I was in love with this guy 35 years ago. I miss you Andy Gibb. I was heartbroken when he died. He was such a beautiful man with a heart of Gold. I will always love him. Yes, he was my first love....Always will be. I just wish I was able to meet him in person. Love you forever, Andy.
Very, very talented...and it didn't hurt that he looked like a younger version of Barry, or had brothers of extremely high musical talent that were already well-known to help him write songs and guide him...just wish life had turned out better for him....
My husband and I saw Andy Gibb on Broadway many years ago in the lead part of Joseph and the Technicolor Raincoat. He was superb. Since this was amusical he sang many songs. Handsome sexy and in perfect form. Gone way too soon but we were blessed to have experienced his performances.
"How can I hold you when you aint even mine" is one of my favorite lines in a song ever. I was 15 when this great song came out. My how fast the years have flown by .
One of the hallmarks of great songwriting is that the song itself is timeless, even when the arrangement itself is firmly fixed in the styles of the time. That's very much what I hear with songs like this. There is no way you'd arrange, engineer, and produce this song in this way outside of a very narrow window of the 1970s... and yet the song itself would hold up outside of that context. You could give the song to Michael Bublé as a swing number or any number of guys in cowboy hats as a "new country" tune and it would still work. That's powerful songwriting, and I'm always sad the Gibbs' talent is so often overshadowed by the fad of disco. They did what was popular at the time, but honestly they could do it all.
I was with you until you said their songwriting was overshadowed by disco. Not true. They had many hit songs before disco and they became even more amazing & popular when they hooked up with Arif Mardin.
