He sure does bro and he also has Geoff's phrasing down. Amazing, if I didn't look at the vid I would have believed it was Geoff. This singer is excellent.
Una de las bandas más grandes del Metal Progresivo! Con su sonido característico en sus voces con un espíritu muy similar al viejo Kansas y toda la impronta del ochentoso Queensryche! No me canso de escucharla..Saludos!!!
If they don't deviate from this calibre I will be more than happy, too many bands (DT and SX come to mind) have stellar work but then feel the need to change and end up putting out lesser works. SG have pretty much kept the integrity they established in their debut, long may it last :)
I was born in 1996 and knew SG songs only in 2013, is a shame, I love that band and I won't see them live or met Mike baker...So I was born in the wrong day... why God!
Great video debut! Like many longtime fans, yes, it would of been awesome to see earlier video productions with Mr Baker however there's no denying that this clip along with their CD release of "Digital Ghosts" w/ new singer Mr Ashland commences a new chapter for Shadow Gallery. They will continue to be, in my opinion, the trinitarian of prog bands, along with Rush & Dream Theater, for generations to take notice how power & beautiful prog music can be.
Love the edit on this song...all the songs besides strong which I don't like are great...worth listening many times and far better than room as they are more simple yet with the classical character of shadow Gallery. Glad that after all these years they still make good music and fresh together with symphony X...
Although it's great to see you finally in a videoclip, I've to say I was expecting something more from such a great band. And, sad, sad, sad to say, but I miss Mike Baker so much. I'd have loved to see him on a SG videoclip....
Never looked into Shadow Gallery, this is the first song I've heard of them. Tragic news about Mr Baker. I'm gonna pick this album up, so really good. On another note, this dude sounds exactly like Tate, it's uncanny!!!
For thise who say that the song is weak and not reflective of the band/CD goes to show that the right and honest thing to do would be to make a second video from Digital Ghosts.
@omarjafet thats cause he is. he writes all the vocal melodies. all the lyrics. almost all the music besides the two guitarists... yes he is the front man. he's been in shadow gallery since the beginning
@RalonzoP Despite the similarities, I think Ashland is a little more controlled and rough. plus the background music has a different sound to it than 'ryche.
Yeah the vocals are excellent, SG have always had excellent backing vocals- Carl Cadden-James especially, who even gives Mike Baker a run for his money on The Archer of Ben Salem- but every voice here works and blends perfectly.
Didn't see this album coming...! Not like Room V which I didn't listen much. This is a classical Shadow Gallery which by now every SG fan should probably have by now....I bought it recently together with a few other cds by 69 eyes and latest Trivium since I don't buy that much as in the past. The singer has a great voice and buy now Tate or not I really like it as it binds extremely well with the songs. All the songs except the 5th song strong which I don't like are great...
The new singer sounds a lot like Tate, which in fact is very good of course. I'm very curious to see SG perform live in October. At last, a live performance, but we miss Mike Baker very much. RIP bro. This song Gold Dust still is recognizable as a typical SG song but it's a bit too polished for my opinion. More radio friendly indeed.
This is a vaultingly incredibly video. Ashland... dude. We know who Geoff Tate is. Find your own voice, and make Shadow Gallery great. I love this band so much, it's not the lack of Baker I'm talking about...
Maybe it's just me.. but this song is the one I like least on this album. And it's the single.. Don't get me wrong, the album is phenomenal.. I just don't much care for Gold Dust.
Love Shadow Gallery, and think Digital Ghosts is a great return to form after the disappointing Room V. Possibly the best album I heard in 2009. HOWEVER IMO, Gold Dust is one of the weaker tracks on the album, and I'm disappointed by such a nondescript, generic live-performance-type video. Shadow Gallery promos ought to show people how amazing they are, not how average. You guys are fucking awesome, and it's frustrating that this video doesn't reflect that.
