The skating looks a lot more like it did in that one cutscene in sonic 06, when he takes off his inhibitor rings and blasts through a bunch of enemies I love it!
Camera isn't as dynamic and levels aren't as challenging as Unleashed. Jump ball, Stomp, Quick step and and Slide animations aren't as good as OG Gens along with no drift. No physics based platforming or spindashing from SA1. No rail tilting like in SA2. We're still re-using old locations and plot lines instead of new ones. If they applied all these things then we're perfect Sonic game, until then no.
@@mawthesonicfan1877 they're already doing that with games like Lost World, Frontiers, Dream Team and Shadow Generations. The thing is they've done it on a very superficial level ignoring all the key components that make these formulas beloved. I'm not saying Shadow Generations is bad as it makes up for it with new chaos and doom abilities but imagine if it played more akin to Unleashed and Generations with some adventure mechanics like I stated above. This shouldn't be the ceiling for Sonic, we can still do so much better.
I'm not sure I see what you see. Nothing looks particularly strange or out of place to me. He does tricks now, but he does tricks during the victory animations too.
@@nookmiles1895if I had to explain it I feel like fan mods including this have a issue with flow. Each move prioritises looking cool by itself which is fine nothing wrong with it But it kinda hinders flow like a trick animation after a homing attack? Great love the details. Shadow completely changing pose for a stomp with no transition. Ehhhhh. It’s aright.
OH MY GOD, FINALLY THEY MANAGED TO FINALLY DO IT, it actually looks great. - it looks like he's actually skating, examples: he puts the effort where it's needed, when trying to pick up speed, (which this animations shows how much strength goes into each leg movement very very well.) and once he reaches his top speed he doesn't have to put as much effort slowing down his legs and letting himself actually slide across the floor, like he *SHOULD.* It doesn't treat skating as if it's a run and I really respect that because some people don't seem to know that. - it captures shadow's character way more than any other skating animation did previously, because: it's efficient, unlike the unnecessary way he does in SA2, shadow isn't sonic he's not trying to show off, he's trying to focus at the task at hand, therefore he's actually trying to be as efficient as he possibly can.
Shadow likes showing off tho? Like not as much as sonic but to a degree he’s always showed off a little. 🤏🏿 Like in his debut games he litterally says IM the coolest. in the game He rides a motorcycle. But I think the skating looks great but for the boost animation I think they should tweak the head cuz he just looks off like he’s quils look like a saiyan.
@@nookmiles1895 As someone who does actually rollerblade, his feet should be slipping away from the floor to actually gain speed. In the original, his feet barely do that but here you can REALLY notice it.
One of the few things that underwhelmed me about this game was all the animations besides shadow's skate. Its crazy that the cutscenes had so much effort put into them and yet we still see shadow t-posing after jumping off a rail.
Idk how they keep messing up with the rail grinding, on Frontiers they kept the bug from Forces where the incorrect rail switch animation played, i guess that's another thing to thank Lost World
It's something I always criticized since Forces, animations were great in Unleashed and Generations in my opinion, even Colors did them well, though less smooth. But animations are now like really stiff, static and boring since Forces. Frontiers and Shadow Generations didn't fix much.
@@thevoidmagician6653 yea, it's because it actually looks like he's skating and not doing whatever he's doing in the base game, you're just too used to the base game animation.
@@ThemightyTelevisionpretty sure it’s the head shape but ok plus I know it’s not accurate to how skating is in real life. But he’s not actually rollerblading and yes I do rollerblade it doesn’t bother me
Hell no they don't that stiff ahh floating boost with that forces ahh skating animation plus the spear attacks were lame the only people saying this is worse are people who don't have pc or has the minor opinion objectively this video proves these animations are superior in every way and shows sega once again was lazy do it right the first time and mods like this wouldn't have to exist
Hard disagree these animations show what sega could have done instead of focusing on irrelevant things like censorship and voice clip changes. The base games skating and boosting looks ripped from forces while here it's fluent and stylish
Don't know man i kinda liked the animation that is already in the game. Calling a mod "Expressive animations" ain't so impressed but it's just my opinion.
@@justyournormalaverageguy9750 what? You expect Shad 05 levels bounce and stretch or something? This is way more expressive than base game I can tell you that much.
@@ThemightyTelevisionhe didn’t say we wanted more expressions or squash and stretch my guy Just that the expressive animation while is good just doesn’t like as much as the base game.
Tbh i prefer shadow flying in the boost animation than just skating, i cant look shadow skating while boosting it feels so wrong, the flying animation gives him more sense of speed.
@@CatWarior22cartoon characters don't need to be over expressive, is as dumb as "waa waa don't criticize it's a children's show" as if they deserved trash
@@CatWarior22 Although he is, it doesn’t matter, they have to make some of these games somewhat realistic(sounds contradictory but it isn’t) even if they have cartoon characters
@@bottomtext593disagree with both you Whike I don’t think it’s better it’s not that important It’s like sprinkles they add something but not having them ain’t really that deep. Plus I like the new animations and angels way more anyway.
