If cinema would be that "unpolished" (compared to what we see in actual A+ production), I would never pay a cent to go there again. It's undoubtedly good - for a small production. However, it only captivates, because it's flashy and decent and stuff. For a (in comparison) "small" company like corridor this is awesome - in cinema this would be B-movie trash.
In hindsight, this made SO MANY people buy this game, and nobody was disappointed. All of this is exactly something that can happen in the game. Spectacular
+Rias Gremory (AnimeClips) Would have been better if the orc/goblin had been thankful to the human, and begin helping him. And if that had been in the game as a sort of extra mechanic, it wouldve been alot nicer.
@@stvafel1172 Same, don't know what we're supposed to do either. Logged in and ancient af. Is it giving you the "I agree and wish to proceed" thing, but just the arrow and not the clicky finger? Well I'm mean they're obviously giving us the finger, just not for the dang youtube. I'm sure we've just got our settings messed up, but you're eight hours ahead of me and I'm not awake so I'll write you back if I find something out. Best wishes
@@wren7195 Yes, I'm getting the finger figuratively but not the finger literally. It's as if they're saying "talk to the hand", instead of "speak with your hand". I've already tried saying "Mellon" into my microphone, but it doesn't help.
@@wren7195 Hey, it just worked for me, I got the finger, i mean the hand, I mean the pointer that's not a pointer but a finger. Since the sidebar didn't show up for me at all at the time of my initial comment, it would seem to me that youtube had a bug. it could also have been a weird interaction with the specific version of youtube that was served at the time and my adblocker since I never tried disabling it.
@@stvafel1172 lol I'm glad it worked for you, thanks for replying and your very fun comments *smiles* Made me chuckle, especially the elvish word for friend. You've got a mellon in me now too. Heh youtube's still warging/fingering/flipping me the fell-beast. Take care and best wishes! Thanks again :D I"ll keep trying it off and on
It’s the wig. And the speed of the scenes, there isn’t really a moment to take it in. For instance the hitting the fish scene, which was done only once, and without looking, made it look unnatural.
Well... I know that's what they said in their latest video but notice how Wren immediately follows that up by saying, "Well..." What he was going to say is that it is canon for Shadow of Mordor, but Shadow of Mordor itself isn't canon in LOTR so eh Still the only Official LOTR live action that isn't made by Peter Jackson, but not canon unfortunately.
No, it's not actually canon. None of the games (minus Lord of the Rings online) are. Even the Live action films are their own cinematic universe, and not actually canon for Lord of the Rings.
I'm glad the game's most iconic elements were incorporated into this video. My favorite bit is the Shadow Strike interrupting his pet about to get killed.
This is some serious top quality content. How come these lads can make better live actions than 'professional' studios? Please, corridor, make a full-length action film. We will be eternally grateful.
I live there. One dark and early winter morning waiting for my bus, there was a thunderstorm that started a fire over the ridge of a far off mountain range, and the moon was setting with a blood red caused by the ascending smoke. The fire silhouetted the mountains black with a red glow. Lighting was striking every once and a while. I thought to myself, "So I live right by Mordor then?" If you think that is beautiful thats fine by me. Other places in Utah though look a lot like New Zealand, yeah.
Absolutely loved this short when it first came out. 2021 and I am finally playing the game, came back to watch this to see if it is as good as I remember. I love it even more now I see how many game mechanics they work into the short. Friggin amazing stuff y'all!!!!
I have briefed the comments and have seen much hate on this video. Guys, gather the fact that this isn't a high budget well-known Hollywood-level studio, this was made by a couple of people (not hundreds) and is absolutely amazing. I really love how everything was put together, well done!
This is why they should disable comments like other big youtubers, the amount of shit you have to filter through to find actual constructive criticism seems to be a tedious job.
jjm2412 Eh, Ik it's based off it and I love Shadow of Mordor, but idk I believe this should be it's own gruesome movie even though I've never seen Lord of the Rings or Hobbit.
Play the new game, Shadow of War. Its basicly Shadow of Mordor, but in better. Much better story, more stuff in the Nemesis System, 5 maps not just 2, Siege Attack and Defend mode ... good stuff. IGNORE the microstransaction bullshit. You can totally play the game ignoring all of that. I got 8 Legendaries and 6 Epic Orcs in one Region without a single of them buyed, all found/created. More fun that way.
Sam and Niko you may not be the most famous film makers out there but you're for sure some of the best! You keep increasing your videos quality over and over and keep getting better. I can only say thank you for inspiring some young guys like me to become like you one day!
Always struck me as an odd complaint because you aren't really supposed to wipe out every single orc you see most of the time, only use guerrilla warfare to assassinate the target.
I can't believe I just stumbled across you guys this morning. Currently binge watching all your videos and this is, hands down, my favorite one so far!! Coming from a huge LOTR fan who also loves this game, this is FANtastic work you guys!
Peter Jackson should make a movie about the norther kingdom of Middle Earth. Those stories haven't been told, and I would love to see more of the Dúnedain ;)
Simen Engåvoll I heard the rumors about them NOT wanting to sell the rites :/ But would Peter be able to do a movie about Middle-Earth anyways? If he made a movie, which didn't have anything to do with any book of Tolkiens?? Anyways, money can move mountains ;)
This honestly is my favorite CorridorDigital video so far. Incredible work as always and keep up the freaking awesome work guys! The effects and everything else were flawless and I cannot wait till you guys make Tether!
Blitz Clash Well stop wishing and start doing. Anyone has the potencial. If you want it bad enough, you can get it. Just remember: Imagination without execution ist halluzination
This is just such a beautiful piece of artistry and creativity between the acting and the effects. Amazing work Sam and Niko, please don’t ever stop making such great films.
I'm fine with constructive critisism but some people take it too far. This is extremely well made for a low budget film and some people only try to find the faults in it.
Welcome to the internet. The place where people provide amazing content and people out there always trying to find the fault in it, only because of the fault in themselves.
Wow! This is the second time I meet you in a commentsection, that doesn't belong to a Dark Souls video! xD Does that mean you're interested in Shadow of Mordor too, or are you just a fan of CorridorDigital?
The Canadian side of me sees the good in all Uruks I've cleansed the darkness from. I spare them all and branded more as I went on. So I agree with you
Watching this again as I pick up the game. If I remember correctly, corridor is the only company that was given permission to make something related to Tolkien's universe. They nailed it!
Here’s my take on the strengths and weakness on each Orc/Uruk: Krimp the Coward - Captain Level 3 Strength - Sniffer Weakness - Clumsy Barak Rock Skull - Captain Level 7 Strength - Charge Weakness - heavily damaged by ranged attacks Goroth the Master - Warchief Level 12 Strength - enraged by weakness Weakness - heavily damaged by stealth attacks (Thanks for so kindly pointing out my spelling errors)
I don't really wanna like this game cause it makes my lord of the ring memories just die with all the added violence and even more god mode hacks than legolas
Yeah, it's an unfortunate reality about film production. That would've been a nightmare to keep track of for continuity since we shot out of order for a lot of stuff, across multiple days. It wasn't worth the effort for the budget we had. We were aware, so we tried to choreograph things so that it wouldn't be that big of a deal. And decided that Talion's sword has magical abilities that repels blood. Except the tip...
+KilKra The only problem i had with the hobbit was that it was divided into 3 parts when really it could have been just one movie. I know it included stuff from the Silmarilion but really they could've made spin off movies for some of the stories in the silmarillion. But i dunno. whats done is done.
+simon brigole Damn right! He was used by Ranger to get to one of Sauron's Generals, not decapitated. Shame, Krimp could've been used too ;P With that fish weapon, he'd be a great ally!
Story? It's a 7.5 minute video. If you want the full story, play the game. Also I'm pretty sure it's intentionally overacted. And the pacing at the end was perfect.
***** The Orcs in LOTR aren't CGI. There may be some shots from distances etc where there are, but otherwise, it was all legit 100% live costumes. The only time (from my knowledge) that they used CGI Orcs/Uruk Hai are the points where there are thousands of them together. Even then, they still used 100 guys dressed up and just replicated the digitally.
***** Peter Jackson likes to use the latest that technology has to offer so it's no wonder why he's taken a liking to the CGI and even the 48fps. I agree in that the orcs in The Hobbit were a bit cartoonishy for a lack of better words. Where the ones in the LOTR felt fearsome, these felt almost Disney like.
GREAT! We watched all your Twitch live streams when you were making vfx for this video and Niko's AWESOME color grading tips)! We too plan on making Lord Of The Rings short in the future! All the best ! ;)
Dude, I watched both of them too! Its a really great learning experience, Sam taught me how to make action essentials blood loose the high shutter speed look, and add some epic looking motion blur! - you have bring your blood hit into a separate comp, Duplicate it, bring in shift channels to your Duped layer, set alpha to FULL ON. De saturate it all the way. drop a levels on it, and tweak till you have a perfect map of black and white. Then pre-compose JUST the Black/White layer. Drop RealSmartMotionBlur onto your original layer, and select the comp layer, and voila. You now have good looking motion blur on the AE blood!
it's more like they are good at making low quality look good by not making any of the big de-synch mistakes like mismatched lighting or blatantly ooky physics. "nah, they just don't screw up the basics" might sound condescending/dismissive but good god is it ever important and big budget productions have been regularly failing at that for decades. you can spend a million dollars making a cg sequence have better detail quality than filming it in real life but your average viewer will still recognize it as fake literally before they parse the objects in the image if the lighting doesn't match reasonably well, wonky physics are a little more complicated as to what parses and what doesn't but as a good general rule do NOT reverse inertia, mess up whether something should be accelerating/decelerating (REALLY common in action scenes because the animation is given timing points and action sequences that don't match up and they have to fudge it all out to match somewhere), or have things take far to little/much time (again, common, and again not usually entirely the animation studio's fault). oh, and just don't even try to do realistic faces (or hands) unless you're accepting from the start that it won't go well or willing to put an absurd amount of effort/budget into it, this channel actually has some good short explanations on that in it's "vfx artists react" episodes. failing to deal with basics like that are why you can point to a scene in the original Jurassic park movie and legitimately claim it has better cgi than some of the scenes in the newest one...hell, even the original Tron did a passable job on this stuff and they were working with computers outstripped by pre-smartphone mobile phones.
Yea and you heard them say that on their channel reacting to their own videos ad just repeating it. Didnt even bother you huh just wanted to sound like you had in site
What's annoying is when you trying to get somewhere quickly and out of nowhere you hear "Ranger!!" From some random captain. Then you have to sit back and listen to his monologue in its entirety 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ Love this game🤣
Has nothing to to with the peter jackson movies lol. this set between the hobbit and lotr based on tolkiens books with a little inspired lore of there own thrown in.
