I like how Paladin Danse needs a transmitter to send a distress call when you literally just walked to him from the Airport. Like dude, walk your ass over there and tell them you need reinforcements
There is definitely a problem with understanding communication systems in this game. I suspect everyone of the helmets in the BOS would have a very serious radio set that would enable them to talk to anyone in the eastern seaboard. It makes no sense that it would be otherwise.
I always wished that the Military Background for Nate would be used more often. He is an accomplished Soldier and would probably put everyone else into the ground with his military experience and drill.
I love the idea of an annual Brotherhood disco where they let loose and the DJ says 'C'mon everyone it's time to do the Paladin Dance' and Danse is all 'c'mon guys this isn't funny' then he busts out the moves!
Replaying this and fo3, I finally noticed something about the power armor. They have both the bos symbol on the chest and the single orange sword on the arms from the outcasts. A cool detail to show the unification of both chapters.
I’ve always hated that gist speech given by the brotherhood for the purpose of their existence. Nate is also an anchorage vet from the red war, you’d think he’d be revered as a soldier immediately for being Pre War U.S Military.
Also annoying how certain BoS members, mainly Rhys, are able to trash talk Nate like they do. How I wish this could've been a discussion between Nate and Rhys - Rhys - "We're fighting a war. What do you know about fighting a war?" Nate - "I know I hear the screams of my brothers and sisters in arms along with the screams of the enemy as they're shot and blown up around me. The same look of terror on the enemy as I kill them is the same expression I have. The lucky ones die instantly. Those who get permanently maimed have to live with it for the rest of their lives. Then there are those who are mentally crushed by the weight of war. Every day I prayed to God that I'd make it off the battlefield whole and in one piece. What me to explain the nightmares I still get?" Rhys - "Um. . .er. ..uh. . well. . .. Nate - "Yeah, I didn't think so."
Actually, I feel like that might raise questions about his loyalty, perhaps. He was a footsoldier for the very same people the Brotherhood says went too far.
I love how when you tell Rhys that it's the best shot at finding your son he actually seems to falter a bit, as if realizing he may have potentially stepped past more lines than intended (because imo he knows that he is overstepping boundaries by using a tone that rivals interrogating Nate/Nora.)
Sine nate and Nora were both outsiders for the brotherhood they had to prove themselves and get along with them, just like the lone wanderer met Sarah Lyons outside GNR she didn't trust him or her at first but after the Adam's air force base she realized that the lone wanderer was capable and I bet they became really close friends and as for the lone wanderer I hope he or she is still alive during the events of fallout 4 and is doing good deeds to protect the wasteland and seeking brand new adventures. Do you believe that proctor Ingram could be the lone wanderer? Because if she was I'd be glad that their still alive, long live the lone wanderer
Oxhorn, you are one of the people with the highest level of depth when we talk about the Fallout series, Fallout 4 in this case. A question related to Curie & Codsworth (by the way, I like the pun in his name and the implied question): Taking into account their inner mental and emotional evolution, is it ethical to use them? For Curie it is somewhat simple, since it is said quite clearly that she has developed self-awareness / self-determination, so she is a person, artificial, but the person non the less. But in the case of Codsworth, things become more complicated because it is not clearly stipulated anywhere. But, looking at things, we realize that in the past 200+ years it gained some self-awareness. When we first meet him after leaving Vault 111, he expresses his DESIRE to accompany us. It is his own decision, he WANTS to accompany us. From my point of view, these (and others, during the playthrough) clearly show the beginning of predetermination, far beyond the initial programming. So, my question is nuanced a little: From a moral point of view, are they persons, do they have/deserve similar rights to us? Maybe you can make a dedicated video to analyze this topic....if you read this.
Why did thee guard at the door sound so of saying Danse's name? Sounds like there was either a delay or edit from two different takes wa done when he said "Paladin Danse"
So, every BOS playthrough I did, after completing either Rhyse or Halen's radiant quests once, Danse asks me the SS to help with his recon, and find out what happened to the larger team that was sent to the commonwealth earlier. Edit:the lost patrol is the quest. I am wondering if there is a way to get that quest if you join the brotherhood late in the games?
You can stumble across the quest just by going to thr locations which then prompts you to follow the quest line. You can then later report that to danse or Kells depending on who talks to you about it once you join thr brotherhood.
I'm terribly sorry but I have to contradict Elder Maxson. Synths are not free thinking. They have no creativity and can only calculate paths to their programmed goals while staying in established/pre-programmed knowledge. That's why even memory-wiped synths can only seek contact persons (Bunker Hill) and follow their commands - instead of for example chose a different idea, blend in where they *like* to be, *invent* their own backstory, show some genuine character traits or preferences. That's why synths gather at Acadia - which would even for low-intelligence humans clearly show as a extremely bad idea, given that you can blend perfectly among humans without giving away your real origin soo stupidly easy. And synths that blend in are programmed to do so and where and as whom. Btw. Curie's first invention as a synth is a better stimpak - by following established chemical knowledge and searching a path to an improved effect. There's no creativity in her approach. In fact that's everything today's so-called AI is capable of - and forever will be. 'Learning' is finding better routes and excluding worse routes in a given ruleset, 'teaching' is programming the ruleset. So don't humanize toasters, Maxson - it's as infantile as playing with plushies, without the cuteness.
If i meet Danse back at the station after i have decoded the Courser Chip he says he wants to welcome me as an acting Knight nothings official until we speak with Maxim but he wants us to be the 1st to know, and Scribe Hayln says welcome Knight.
I feel like Rhys was meant to be the asshole-who-secretly-has-a-nice-side character but then I did 44 radiant quests for him and he was STILL an asshole so I just nuked the Prydwen lol, screw that guy
I left a comment about the Brotherhood previously, but I regret to say my opinion of them has changed massively. They are genocidal with little to no morals, go after living people just for not being human, and I believe they and the Nazis deserve each other. But that being said, I don't know any other game that puts you in the perspective of a military person climbing the ranks, and I hope you'll do your commentary on this path soon; I eagerly look forward to it.
... Paladin Danse and the remains of his crew *can walk* to the Prydwen now. It's not like they'll be traveling for days or weeks, it's (more realistically) less than a few hours of a hump across Boston. What do they need a distress signal for now!? They could have changed the reason you still need the deep range transmitter to their usual "gimme yer tech" excuse and I'd buy it! The BoS are tech hoarders, I'd totally believe that Danse would want to test you by having you help him secure it. But still using it as a distress signal? That's just lazy.
U can get up there without the mission from a glitch a bucket up against the wall and a jetpack and u can get up there I kill maxon and joined and it tells me to speak to him but he's dead
I'm surprised the response to "I was in the military" is just "OK" and not more like "what military?" and then "how?" I know there were other factions post-war, and they can't all be up to the same standard as the pre-war US military or the Brotherhood's standards, so they should be asking for further elaboration
That response ("ok") indicates to any veteran that they are speaking to a civilian. Any veteran would always want to know what was your MOS, your branch of service, where did you serve, did you deploy - if so, where, what was your rank, etc. I guess Bethesda didn't have any room in their budget even a rudimentary technical advisor. Ah, well. For those who have only known the 1st Civ Div, it's a finer detail that is easily missed.

yeah, they make the "join the Brotherhood and get Power Armor" thing as if it's such a big deal, when it really isn't, since you've literally had one from the start of the game, not to mention all the suits you've probably amassed just getting here..........

Barely can take any hits and when you find it it's already badly damaged and the fusion cell (unless you use game knowledge from multiple playthroughs to get more) you get from the museum is half charge. Still WAY too much power to give to the player within the first hour? Absolutely!
I like the detail that the Brotherhood path of the signal interceptor quest is the only one where the machine doesn't partially break while teleporting you.
When it’s all played together it sounds like you spend most of the conversation telling him how stupid you think he is, just for him to be like “make us proud soldier”

You've been finding technical documents *before* you get Proctor Quinlan's quest? *I* never have! In *every* playthrough I have ever done (and I've done a lot of them), I have started finding such documents *only* once I met Quinlan and he asks me to collect them all... *never* before that point!
Oh before I forget. This is a warning to anyone starting the game. Make sure you install the DLC after you complete quest Semper Invicta. I say that because if you have the DLC installed already, scribe Haylen might send you to a location that’s in Far Harbor or Nuka World. This happened on my Minutemen play-through. I was able to complete this quest after I defeated Kellogg(because I needed complete Nick to access far harbor & grab the item).
That happen to me too. I wonder when the next destination is decided? I load my old save before i get the mission and they still send me to that location.
@@vex_13 Yeah that is exactly what happened to me! Hayley sent me to a shack over in far harbor. I couldn’t do it until I completed the Kellogg boss fight.
She always sends my ass to Nuka World whenever I start a new playthrough. Got to the point of just leveling up before continuing with the main quest line. Oh, and HI @Steel 101 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

@@spiffygonzales5899 There are only 3 potential canonical endings; Institute, Brotherhood or Railroad. Or Minutemen. The whole Brotherhood+Railroad thing is never acknowledged by anybody. It's just exploiting quest mechanics.

The commonwealth absolutely hates the institute and it's VERY unlikely they'd work with them. And the Railroad is... well let's be real here they're a joke. BoS would be THE power in the commonwealth. Minutemen are weak until Nate solves everything for them. I guess you could argue about one over the other. But with neither of them really having any reason to fight the other... that doesn't seem likely.

I also don't understand Maxsons big dramatic speech. He addresses you and handful of nameless NPC's. Clearly spoken like he was addressing high ranking members.

When I made my own solid playthrough, I still helped Danse get the transmitter and went back to the station with him. I still turn down the offer of becoming a member of the Brotherhood. The reason for this, is that after the Prydwen shows up, and I get the plans to build the relay from Virgil, Danse, Haylen and Rhys don't talk about the Arcjet mission when I enter the station to finally join.
I kinda wonder if the brotherhood soldier at the gate already knew that Danse was at the Cambridge Police Station, and soldiers can be found as far as the Glowing Sea even before meeting Danse, why couldn't the Sole Survivor just have gone and delivered a message to the Boston Airport from Danse on a holotape saying "Hey, we're here, please send a radio antennae and some reinforcements. Love, Danse ❤️" or any of the Brotherhood patrols could've found them by that point? It just seems like a massive plot hole. I know it's for action but it could be like how if you bring the courser chip to the Railroad they allow you inside their HQ just because, instead of doing the entrance exam under Slocum Joe's?

Awesome video Ox ! I don’t agree with the methods of the BOS but man they have the best quests in the game(I would mention my favorite one but no spoilers😁). Plus there are so many awesome rewards. The best one is the free T-60 BOS Knight Power Armor! The pilots of the Vertibirds are terrible but still it’s pretty fun to use them. I never get tired of just flying over the Commonwealth. Also it’s really cool that they are actually patrolling the Commonwealth and can help you in battle(same with the Minutemen). The Knights are so overpowered lol .
Seems I remember Mr Ox VanHorn mentions in one of his many episodes about fallout 4 that there is a document praising Nate as a hero and the intended speaker at the Fraternal Post 115. This where he was to deliver his famous (to Us) speech ending with "War.war never changes". I think it's in the lectern upstairs.
Teagan trying to convince Nate that he is stuck in the store is at best immersive breaking and at worse just plain bad writing. No reason to even mention it. Every quartermaster is almost always in a locked room, that I remember.
Captain kells, calls nate a relic of the past, how does he know he was cryogenically frozen for 210yrs. who is to say he wasn't a vault dweller born in the vault.
I am very sad that you can’t keep Danse in the brotherhood in base game, but I do like that you can work out to being a Paladin for the BoS and the general for the minutemen. I was a huge fan of the brotherhood under Elder Lions and because they cut content on Blind Betrayal, doing the game like that kinda makes me feel like I’m banding the two factions together to actually save the commonwealth. The BoS take care of preserving technology and their main duties, but the minutemen are like the on ground military/police force that’s focused on rebuilding the common wealth and saving people- just cause Maxon is a Loon doesn’t mean other members don’t genuinely want good for the commonwealth. Plus you know, you save the settlements and build them up, you have more produce coming for the brotherhood so they’re another actual side work tie as well. But this is just the opinion of a bored hardcore role player lo But it’s the closest I can get to recreating Elder Lions BoS in Fallout 4
Almost 8 years in, the vanilla game STILL has glitches and bugs (but no spiders for some reason) that is ONLY rectified (most of them) by the unofficial patch via mods. The best thing Bethesda could do for THIS game is to NEVER "update" it because they ALWAYS break more things than what they were trying to fix when they made an "update". Bethesda, PLEASE put your full, 200% effort on Starfield! I swear, If I see A SINGLE SHIP that's flying backwards, UPSIDE DOWN...
A possible solution to the continuity error is that Danse is a Paladin, owing Maxson to be personally responsible for Danse. They could have been great friends in The Capital Wasteland when he was ordered to Boston's Commonwealth. Possibly, they have also picked up strange energy readings from the teleportation of Synths in The Capital Wasteland, and they triangulated a locational source of where the signals are originating. The teleportation relay might have scrambled those energy readings as a form of encryption, but the instruments detected a general area yet nothing precise. It would cause a discovery of intent to show in force. But I think we all know that it was a timed mission in Danse's orders before Maxson loaded up the Prydwen to confirm suspicions.
Well to be fair the prydwin doctor sounds like your average military physician “well you have this issue but I’m going to say you don’t because reasons”
Something that I kinda like and hate about FO4 BoS is how far you go into the ranks. I like the idea of the game finishing with you being basically Maxson's right hand/junior elder. But it's just so silly how fast they promote you. About 5 missions into the quest line then you outrank a majority of the Brotherhood on the Prydwen. Seems like they'd be much more cautious about just some random person they met that was walking around the slums of Cambridge. I'd like it if it took more time and effort to achieve those higher ranks by preforming more dangerous tasks. Make you feel like you earned those promotions in a shorter time.

For anyone that gas felt with the Brotherhood in New Vegas, Paladin Danse asking us to do anything would immediately violate the Chains That Bind, subjecting him disciplinary action. Orders are supposed to come from a commanding officer, working it’s way through the proper channels. Head Paladin, Paladin, Knight, Initiate. Am I wrong?

I think I put a bullet in Rhys' head pretty quick on my first playthrough. It's funny how blase and rude people are to the Sole Survivor, considering how deadly they are.
I pull a prank on Arthur maxson that Roger is coming over to the airport with Hugh Hefner and I just laughed at him and I said psych you wanker I just send your gifts in your room and a surprise for you when Arthur sleeps I use fireworks in his room and I weld his door shut and the fireworks are lit and Arthur is shouting for help and I watched the whole show I laughed hard outside the prydwen was a hoot and then the fireworks stopped Arthur was mad
After meeting with the staff I went to the flight deck and maxson was there I gave him a salute and he said your assignment is this I see the fort strong I said the fort is a gun battery in the revolutionary war now abandoned and infested with super mutants I said if I secure the place prepare for the surprise party for Ingram she’ll love it Arthur said you mean you chatted Teagan about your prosthetic leg and he will design and built it for Ingram I think he will be very proud
The soldiers chat and reports after Nate climbed the ladder and gave the soldiers a wave and saying hello and the soldiers wave back and Nate sees danse and Nate and danse salute and chat with maxson and kells Nate asked them in a friendly conversation about the tourism office and his occupation is a tour guide and a excellent hiker he is also a retired soldier with an prosthetic leg that gave him 3 medals and two purple hearts and Nate followed Maxson orders to meet the staff he start meeting ingram she said so you’re the new recruit I heard about Nate said watch your tone proctor Ingram said sorry about that sir Nate said I asked Teagan about my prosthetic leg and he said you want to build legs to make Ingram walk better I think it’s a good idea since we chat and I gave Teagan a bottle of coors light beer and a burger with fries he likes it and I went to see the doctor and he said glad you stopped by soldier you ready for your medical exam I asked him in a friendly manner in the end I gave him an green apple for him and I went next door to quinlan he said you’re finally here I asked him you mean someone else like myself I gave him intel and in the end I gave him a box of fresh warmed Yorkshire puddings with potatoes inside and I gave his cat a nice pat on the forehead and under his chin and gave the cat a bed and cat bowl and for him to eat and sleep on his bed and a litter box that makes quinlan so happy and I asked him about taking care of your pet give the cat food water and his litter box clean quinland is jubilant
The fact that you showcase all the dialogue options and how the characters react demonstrates just how meaningless choice in Fallout 4 really is. Someone once referred to Fallout 4 as having the "illusion of choice" and when you see how every single dialogue option results in the same outcome it's hard to disagree.
Kells is so full of crap. He contradicts not only statements made by numerous other BOS members but he manages to contradict himself simply for the sake of talking down to the player.
It's funny how hypocritical the military is when they are the ones funding the development of their toys. Just sayin', it comes down to money when it comes time to protect in new fashionable ways of death.
Why do the brotherhood allow a dude in their ranks who has talked shit about their ideals and continues to do so ? Why add those options when there are no consequences.
Thats no error. They sent reports before when they were in better shape. Way before the ghoul raid. The deep range transmitter is just to ask for help from the main base since the recon team is pummeled.
