Ryuk at least dragons dogma was able to take a page from fights like this for their world map dragon battles. riding on the wings of a great beast whose only weakpoint is the dome of scales that protect his non skin-covered heart while he uses his powers to take control of the minds of your allies is very unnerving up until you become super overpowered lol
Ryuk When I saw skyrim's dragon first impression was - "Look, how small and adorable they are!" That's probably becouse of Shadow of the Colossus. Wonderfull game isn't it?
crawlingninjabear plus they dont even actually match the description of dragons and are morer like wyverns. and yes, before anyone goes 'what's the difference' there is one. they are actually different. not just in physical body but intelliegence etc.
Just remember. These things are pretty much made up of stone. Even if you successfully got on it just the impact would hurt like hell and injure you pretty badly. Wander is a badass.
also a terrorist because he's killing these innocent things, don't ya think? AFTER ALL, they're just BEING COLOSSI DOIN NOTHING. Wander shoots Avion out of his comfort zone (the perch).
TheScruffinator nah they’re made from the land itself. If you go back to the arenas afterwards you can see the corpses turning back into stone and sand.
It is truly one Great piece of art. This game has a feel and grandeur that really is difficult to explain. I never really have had an experience quite like that.
Every original and meaningful game that delivers something fresh to gaming is a work of art. I exclude repetitive games that rely on the same old formula (mainstream military shooters, sports games, racing games)
They make it feel so small in scale nowadays and restrict the player to doing it in one way with an obious solution. Shadow of the Colossus has more freedom and everyone is going to experience it differently. Also the soundtrack elovates this beyond many games.
You wrong, the colossus are pretty basic, in hard mode they get a little better... But i would say they are kinda of repetitive and some of them doens't egen feel like a boss, the gameplay in this game is mid asf, but the overall athmosphere and stuff... Makes it my all time favorite game despite the major Defects
this song is so strong sometimes, i just put my ps2 controller down and try not to cry. this game is fucking amazing and will age VERY well as time goes by.
@@brucethdamneth3154 3 years later, it was a damn good remake. Bluepoint has shown with both SotC and Demon Souls remakes that they are *VERY* good at them, if they ever did a Chrono Trigger/Cross (or FF9) remake in the same way as previous projects I would die happy.
@@recklesflam1ngo968 the remake looks awesome, i just discovered the game and watch jacksepticeye play it. I wish the game were on switch or pc cuz i desperately want to play it!!
Such an amazing moment on gaming. Up until that point you only fought land based colossi. And then, just when you think you are getting the hang of things, the game throws you this flying juggernaut. Simply amazing
In my opinion this is the best and most majestic piece of music ever composed in a video game. Nothing compares to the SOTC soundtrack for me, and I’ve heard a lot of soundtracks in my life.
@@cognitiveinterlace715 For me It’s a good match between this game music and Kingdom Hearts music, but I still think Yōko Shimomura is the greatest composer ever. However, SOTC has just amazing pieces of music.
Still my favorite game to this day!! It even beats Both Tekken (my VERY frst game so obviously has quite the boost in rank) AND Destiny (which for some reason just touched me in such a way... it was my very frst shooter and also my frst game with an actual loot system in it and for some reason wen it frst came out i would literally get butterflies in my stomach every tim i played)
Ps2 games truly, and always will be, the very best...T.T They were made in a time where mmo hadnt yet taken over the world so game developers were forced to focus on stories to get sales rather than pvp and balancing and online multiplayer to keep buyers entertained.
it’s hard for me to pick a favorite boss battle in a game made of boss battles, all of them are epic as hell, well some of them might be annoying but still, 90% of the time it’s pure awesomness
This song always reminds me that for a Fairytale Retelling Project, I have a Epic Fantasy Twist on the Tale of "Rapunzel" by The Brothers Grimm. The premise is you play as Prince Caecelius, a young blind prince made so by a wicked lich known as Dame Gothel who kidnapped High Priestess Rapunzel, a young maiden with healing powers granted to her by the realm's supreme goddess, She Of The Sunflower, & you have to fight through Dame Gothel's army of Colossi that have been possessed by Dame Gothel's dark magic, which takes the form of thorn bushes, to reach her & the High Priestess Rapunzel.
So I was at work last week and just going about my business when I had to pull up my pants as I felt they were sagging. What I hadn't realized was that my zipper was not done up, and what was more was that my mom, after cleaning my pants, lodged the zipper in the very bottom behind the folded fabric. My fingers fed through the gaping hole that was my unzipped fly and that's when I realized that things were going to get rough, especially after I saw an entire wave of customers coming to my department. That's when I heard this song. I hastily tried to zip up my zipper but as I said, it was stuck at the bottom and was very difficult to get out because of all the rather solid fabric overlapping it. The battle was fierce and many crotch-covers were made as customers requested the locations of certain products to which I would skillfully direct them with my swift arm-directing ability, coupled with my extensive knowledge of my department's layout. Finally! I was able to get my index finger under the zipping piece and pull it out. I had achieved victory. However the music had not stopped. No. There was a young boy staring at me the entire time.
Yes We DO!!!!! Except this time with a *Ahem* "Colossal" Extra! What's the extra? ALL 48 COLOSSI!!!!!!!! People PLEASE FINISH LAST GAURDIAN AND MAKE THIS REMAKE WITH ALL 48? PLEASE!? Come my fellow Wanderers! I have Hired Avion to help us spread the word! TO THE SKYS!!!!!!!
the reason i like the extended version is because i could stay hours listening to this beautiful kind of music and never get bored, and yes, i have both videogames for ps2 and ps3....so proud of it...
Analog texture, real time rendering with short definition. One of the best games of history! And sound .......METROID AND THE LEGEND OF ZELDA! Emotion Engine back now!!!!!!
this is my fav colossus of all time. Me and my friend at 8 years of age in Chile with a pirated copy of this game.... My friend couldn't beat Avion so he called me to give it a try. I had never played this game before. he explained a bit of how the game was played, but I did what everyone did back then and just smashed buttons to see what each one did. When I dropped to the lake and saw that fucking bird it scared me, it really did. Now that I think back to it I was a real pussy, but anyways... I had never seen anything like this game before. My friend said that his strategy was to jump so he could get to the tail first, so I did that. And then the weak point disappeared. I looked at my friend and asked him what the fuck happened. He told me the other weak points are at the wings. So, imagine the easily impressionable mind of an 8 year old kid, with me being a real pussy, having to run the long way from the end of the tail to the wings, against the wind, and with this music playing. I mean I knew this game was something else, I stabbed the shit out of the first wing and WOOOOAAAHHH the fucking thing did a BARREL ROLL DUDE. My friend was impressed by how far I made it since we would usually fall off the wing and turn off the ps2 out of anger. As soon as I was done I looked at my friend and told him "you gotta give me this" So we grabbed a virgin disc and put it in his computer and copied the game to that disc so I could play it at home. This game is not a long one by any means. But I'm 17 now, it's been a while, and I still don't get bored from this game. I replay it over and over. And you bet your ass I'll buy a ps4 just so I can get that remake, just like how I bought a ps3 so I could play the remaster.
I mainly remember this song from the Celosia fight (the tiger-like one) because as soon as you got onto his back after you broke his armor, it was straight to 0:55 where the song starts getting real good.
idle teen Ever fell into water from something like 8-to-10 meters ? It hurts like a bitch. Imagine falling from that fuckin height. Even into water. Even if it doesn#t hurt you.
Me: MAN THAT AS THE 12 TRY ILL GET THIS BIRD **Get the bird** Me: MAN DONT FALL FOR ALL THE GODS **Some time later** Me:FINAL HIT HEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH And this is the story of how i killed this bird or something
Ive only beaten the first 5 collusi but the only one I had trouble with was Gaius (the 3rd one) the 4th one took me like 10 minutes the first time, But Avion was awesome.
I remember the first time I saw that colossus when I was playing ps2 in my cousin's house, I was like "how in the fuck I'm going to defeat a FLYING GIANT? Oh well this will take some time" BEST GAME EVER
If you guys didn't know this the reason why we have Dark Souls today because of this game and Ico without this Miyazaki (the director of Dark Souls demon souls and blood-borne) wouldn't have gotten into the video game industry and made Dark Souls Demon's Souls blood-borne he would have stayed at his company Oracle he was inspired by Shadow of the Colossus and Ico to leave his job at Oracle and getting the job at from software that would earn him Fame and the presidency of from software. Thank you Shadow of the Colossus and team Ico for making Dark Souls and Demon's Souls possible
