I had this ash hit for 14k the other day and me and the host just stopped and looked at each other while the boss was staggered. Even though our mics were off we could tell what was implied lol.
There is a tear for you custom potion that increases poise, combind that with the tear that give you massivly reduced damage on your first hit and you should be able to start the combo without taking too much damage or being knocked out
Great Katana's, heavy thrusting swords, and curved greatswords all get the same amount of poise for this weapon. Good to know if you want a better moveset for outside of bosses.
How does one find a list of which weapon types give how much poise? Is it indicated in the game stats? I mainly want to figure out if Greatswords are better for damage and poise than Light Greatswords, because Greatswords are annoyingly slow for me and it’d be nice if I could use Milady for this build instead
@@jacchann This is the value Greatswords, Curved Greatswords, and Heavy Thrusting Swords grant 118 poise. Great Katanas grant 104 poise. Light Greatswords grant 60 poise. Straight Swords, Twinblades, Katanas, and Curved Swords grant 30 poise. Thrusting Swords grant 28 poise. Daggers grant 22 poise. In short, Milady is not a good option. Some of the best choices are: - Iron Greatsword: best damage of all GS - Dismounter: the best CGS (consider both range, damage and weight) - Great Katana: a bit lower poise/damage but with good range and a moveset that is consider very good by many.
Swapping for a cold affinity Flamberge also has the advantage of innate Bleed buildup which can get you a secondary damage burst to help out when you need it against regular enemies.
@@iownall2222 Except that you're not always using Carian Sovereignty against regular enemies. When you're just attacking with the weapon itself, that's a very useful asset - oftentimes moreso than the Lizard Greatword's charged R2 being able to very situationally double-hit at a certain range, which is mostly why it's used in this build.
@@PierceArner yea, it doesn't matter if you're not using carian on regular enemies. With frost or magic affinity set on a GS, regardless of the GS you'll kill enemies before a bleed would even proc. At 80 int regardless of the sword you're using, with the right scaling the weapon itself is going to hit hard, and the lvl 1 charge also hits hard and comes out fast. Having bleed is honestly useless bc you're already doing so much damage, and if you're using frost you'll have that proc and kill something before bleed even has a chance. So like I said, you should be killing things before a bleed proc would even occur regardless.
@@iownall2222i hear all this and I know from experience it is true but the great katana moveset is so nice 😂. The bleed is just a bonus if for some reason I forgot that I can just night comet any high health mob out of existence.
@@feircy if you like the moveset to a weapon, then use it g. There's nothing wrong with that, I do the same. I'm just saying in terms of the build, right. Like it's not worth specifically looking for and using a bleed weapon, like the flamberge, in this build. Especially not if you're using frost bc the DMG output but also the bleed value goes down once you make it frost. Like bleed is not going to increase the DMG or utility bc shits going to be dead before it would even proc. But if you like a weapon moveset, use the weapon. As long as it can be customized and take the ash of war you want to use, any weapon is viable for any build if you set the scaling right.
7:38 Yeah... That's not how it works. Remember, the closest you are to 100%, the more it matters. Ofc, going from 63% to 66% doesn't seem like much, but in reality it's still more like an 8%. Of course, 8% more damage received is still not that much in exchange for the damage dealt, but you can't just say it's a 3% and brush it off.
Technically yes but the reality having frost is much more useful, numbers wise: 12250 Damage Cold 12954 Damage Magic So as soon as Frostbite debuff gets involved cold goes way higher and frost helps a lot more for general leveling clearing too.
@@RageGamingVideos Ahh seems decent then, when I played magic generally worked better hence I went with that, you could also do ranni's dark moon to debuff the boss and bloodsucking tear to do even more, possibly one shotting
Staff of the great beyond will allow you to decrease the time it takes to swap from seal to staff for buffs seeing as it allows the casting of both sorcerys and incantations and it is lighter than most staffs
magic infused gargoyle's greatsword has INT B scaling btw. if you're not interested in pre-debuff target with frost first using cold lizard GS (INT:C) and just AoW right away in the face, then gargoyle's GS probably a better choice for more BEEG damage from AoW alone.
Put this on a curved beastman sword for my mage. Does only slightly less dmg cause the int actually has a higher rating vs the greatsword plus its easier to stay medium weight with full rakasha.
just use iron perfumes if you go for the spammable route instead of one-shots, i pair it with Flamberge greatsword for better looks and iante bleed great catana also has good stats but i dont think you get the poise sadge
I've been using this ash of war for my Samurai Mage, I put it on the Great Katana so the only problem is it doesn't have much hyper armor compared to Greatswords
@@Darth_Mould the Flamberge set to Cold affinity works as another Greatsword as it has innate Bleed build up, but as other comments have mentioned the Curved Greatwords, Great Katanas, & Heavy Thrusting Swords all deal the same amount of poise damage when using this Ash, so… basically just take your pick.
Hi im having trouble using the build and im confused why because every time i use the ash i end up being kocked out of hit or die because the boss hitting me to much before the ash can finish
Idk if I’m being stupid but endure seems to quite literally last 1 second so by the time I’ve charged up the ash it’s gone and I’ll get knocked out of it
Rakshasas armor actually does make you take more damage through a debuff nobody tells you about (2% per piece) also they nerfed terra magica to increase magic damage to 15% or so not the 20 or 25% it was
I used this whole combo just to hit bayle for 2500 and die 😭 edit: after a couple tries I staggered him and killed him before he even got to phase 2, I nearby approve of this build (:
Carrian Sovereignty is currently bugged. It is not supposed to have hyper armour, and with most weapons ot doesn't, but it has almost infinite hyper amour with greatswords. Ashes of war have their own hyper armour values and do not depened on the weapon. So almost definitely this is a bug and almost definitely it will be fixed (AKA nerfed).
This is incorrect. It adds poise when using the "great" class of weapons. Greatswords, heavy thrusting swords, Great Katana's, etc. All add 108 poise. Which isn't close to infinite.
@azureaurelia5381 Well it doesn't make sense though does it? This ash of war scales with intelligence and weapon upgrade. Weapon AR, weapon speed etc. doesn't affect the skill whatsoever, so it makes no sense to add poise to certain weapon classes. To my knowledge, no other ash of war functions like this.
@@ethanpispas4098 Several ash of war work like this. Both Flame skewer and flame spear, giant hunt, chilling mist, spin slash, bloody slash, sword's dance, poison mist and more.
i hade this problem and was really confused but all you got to do is look up on yt where to get glintstone wetblade and when you get it you should have the option
Hello, is it possible to use this with the Dark Moon Greatsword? It also does Frost but also Magic while also scaling with Int. You dont get the ash of war but you can still cast the Greatsword spell i guess? Or does it not buff the attack in the same way? If it works wouldnt doing this provide you with this build and the dark moon greatsword build?
@@Leandroexatas2 I know, i had Carian Grandeur on my weapon and i thought It was this Ash of war. I was so frustrated because i didn't manage to make the second hit 🤣🤣
All these endure spam strats are getting old. I wish they'd buff vow of the indominable a little so you could use it some instead. Maybe the 1 second of invulnerability followed by like 2 seconds of a lesser endure status or something
All these builds are situational at best. Your videos show that you clearly have no idea how boss mechanics even work. Standing there and tanking everything to unleash one attack is brain dead play style.
You're not looking at this from a content creator perspective. obviously he is going to get footage like this for his builds to make the video successful and almost no one uses them like this. It is called sensationalism and if you still don't understand it yet you need to get with the times.
Who the F wants to kill a boss in one attack? I don't even like those magic attacks we have free FP for 15 seconds and can blast the boss down with one magic attack. I like to develop skill to beat a boss not trickery, the most kids these days don't care about that they just want the easy street
That's the great thing about these games they can accommodate any play style. Of course, with all those variations, people like to "No true Scotsman" and say that is not the real way to beat a boss... to each his own.
A person who talks down to a whole community for problem solving is definitely the guy we need to take advice from. Clown. You have the social skills of a rabid dog.
@@jasonheath7045 that's where the challenge comes in, to learn the move set, be able to avoid those one and two shot kills, best of the boss with some learned skill and not an easy trick. Yes, each to their own, but if someone loves a game why would you want to hurry up and get it over with? Enjoy it like a fine wine or good steak don't get it over with quickly
@@Capthowdy098 true, I guess I just want to milk these games as long as possible. Especially when we are talking about arguably the best game ever made, why would someone want to rush through it, kill a boss quickly, instead of enjoying it a little bit longer and playing it a little bit longer, even if that means dying several times. I summoned Spirit help with a lot of bosses and then I started soloing them and I got much more fulfillment. I will be soloing Milenia too
