That’s intentional. Shadow and Sonic have a very interesting past. Shadow was inspired after the mural in Angel island which is essentially depicting what would be Super/Hyper Sonic. Also behind the scenes, the bio lizard boss has his roar being the merged screams of Sonic and Shadow.
