People didn't understand that this Song was a saying that Shadow was Moving on from his Past. No longer looking back at who he was and what he was created for. Because let face it he was Either created to be a Weapon for Black Doom or Be Tool to start for Gerald to get revenge against humanity, or created to save the World against Black doom or Be Cure for Diseases, or an Android to serve Eggman or Be a Weapon for G.U.N or My personal Favorite giving Everyone a Chance to be Happy. Like yeah very confusing past just make your own future.
Except... did you notice that the piano at the beginning matches up with the lyrics of I am all of me? Imagine these lyrics along with the piano: Can you see all of me? Walk into my mystery Step inside and hold on for dear life (More piano music) Do you remember me? Capture you or set you free I am all... I am all... Of me...
@@tacocats2244 I can though I am not sure if I caught it back then, this games ost was peak, it is a shame all to people that hated on this game missed out on this, at least back in the day when this was very much a reward for beating the game, sure listening to it is great, but hearing this as the end credits roll was insane.
@@tacocats2244I i love how it traces a paralell between I am, talking about Shadow's power and his dark past, whereas never turn back is all about his redemption and fighting for a brighter future
It’s got a LOT actually. Ngl, when I was played Lost Impact for the first time I almost shed a tear. The music for that level and Maria’s beautiful and sweet voice really got to me.
We don’t get any moments like this anymore because shadows story arc is done at the end of his game he says “goodbye shadow the hedgehog” hes saying goodbye to the old shadow cause he’s done with his cursed past
@@Xchi Not true. 06 had one of the best portrayals of his character. It was the perfect place to take him post-StTH, testing whether he would actually ‘Never Turn Back.’
I love it that the piano at the beginning is playing parts of "I Am (All of Me)" so much. The first time I've ever listened to Never Turn Back I couldn't hear it after noticing it I can sing along with the piano. Can you see all of me? Walk into my mystery Step inside and hold on for dear life Do you remember me Capture you or set you free? I am all. I am all of me
@@somerandofromoregon I am bad at explaining but I will try to do it as best as I can. If you listen closely you can hear that the piano is playing the lyrics I've written down( you can hear it better at 2x speed) just slower than in "I Am (All of Me)" the main theme of the game where they come originally come from. The piano part also has a name if remember right it's "I Am (The Story is Over)". It's the chorus from the song "I Am (All of Me)" they are playing on a piano.
This is why I disagree with people who say a lot of Sonic's music is just "mindless butt-rock". Because if you actually take a step back and listen to the lyrics, you can see that a lot of thought, passion, and even smart writing goes into a lot of these songs. But I know everyone's taste in music is subjective.
@@RickyUzumaki993 like I may not be the biggest fan of the structure of the song but for me lyrics are half of what makes a song good, nvm don't know what I'm smoking I think I was talking about something else
Shadow: gets sealed inside a pod after his sister-figure was killed by the goverment, becomes a hero. Infinite: gets called weak once by shadow, becomes a villain.
@@chipakpaka I mean... Shadow started out as a villain, and only became a full hero after a long journey of self exploration. Meanwhile Infinite was a mercenary working for Eggman from the beginning. He saw Shadow murder his teammates and family, tried to fight him himself only to get his ass handed to him, and Shadow basically told him "oh yeah, your squad that I killed was a total pushover, and for the leader you're just as weak, I don't want to see your stupid face again" and left. So yeah, I'd say Infinite's villain arc was justified.
Well to me it is shadow thinking about his life before the accident happened and the 40 seconds afterwards him doing everything in his power to stay by and true to Maria’s wish which is why I feel after 06 the real shadow died if they do shadow right in sonic movie 3 then maybe we can get the black hedgehog loner we all know and love
As much as I don't really like play or watch anything related to Sonic anymore, I've gotta admit, this music sorta helped me discover my tastes, so I'm thankful for finding this as a kid.
Did you notice that the piano at the beginning matches up with the lyrics of I am all of me? Imagine these lyrics along with the piano: Can you see all of me? It handled the apocalyptic theme it was going for really well, much better than anything like Forces. You see the cities of Earth being devastated, with people all around you fighting. The Black Arms' fruit and soldiers are dispersed throughout the levels, giving a sense of scale to their invasion. Best of all, each and every character in the Sonic universe is actually doing something to defend the planet, instead of sitting around in a computer waiting for Sonic, younger Sonic, and an OC that plays exactly like Sonic to do all the work for them. The alien invasion is potrayed in a realistic and natural way, while being faithful to the characters and the world.
In Sonic 06, Silver sees Shadow for the first time, he confuses him for Mephiles. Shadow is quick to correct him... "I'm Shadow, Shadow the Hedgehog." No "Ultimate Life Form" bullshit this time, that was a title someone else gave him, now HE decides who he wants to be
0:00 - 0:39 Can you see all of me? Walk into my mystery. Step inside and hold on for dear life. Do you remember me? Capture you or set you free. I am all… I am all of… Me.
I feel like the beginning was representing Maria's innocence and death while the rock and roll probably represents Shadow's rage if you think about it.
That's not at all what it's about. The piano track is called "I Am... The Story is Over." It's about the end of Shadow pursuing knowledge about his past and finding out what he should do based on that. What follows is Shadow flipping his entire past off, including Maria.
I like to think that Shadow is written more heroically because of what he does at the end of this game, with him finding who he truly is and putting in behind him. Even Eggman saying that he is the true Shadow by telling him that he is the first Shadow and that he saved him with one of his robots. (Even tho he tells him at the 10 minute mark in the final fight)
yesmen 10 I am a fan of sonic is downloaded sonic games on my pc and I have given them an end and I am a super fan of yours. I love the video you uploaded from Open Your Heart from sonic adventure.
@@nashfeighny4757 It’s definitely close. Perhaps just one tier under. Sure maybe not as great as the 16 bit Sonic games, Unleashed, Generations, Colors, Adventure 1 or 2 but definitely a great game. Sonic Forces | Great game but short and disappointing for a lot of fans. Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) | Mediocre game. Ruined Sonic’s reputation in the first place but not that bad. Shadow the Hedgehog | Great game. Not bad. Not even average. Apart from the controls, some glitches, Maria’s eyes and her AI; I honestly don’t see anything that’s truly wrong with it. If the game ended up being rated T instead of E10+ like it was initially going to be, the game probably wouldn’t have been so hated.
Mi segunda canción favorita de Shadow uff, la adoro! Creo que más de uno se dejó engañar por el piano del principio, creyendo que sería una canción suave para ZAZ! Meterse de pronto la epicidad y romperte el tímpano X'D!
I still remember beating this game as a kid and this hit, being a rock enjoyer this made getting trough the game and to the last credit sequence, so worth it to me this game was wild and the ost was crazy, shame many people hated this game, it had an absolutely loaded soundtrack and the game was different to be sure, and is a text book example of how the OST can carry a game, I would restart the console just to hear the intro, and the game finished with a bang, great last song and a lot of meaning in the lyrics.
@@nashfeighny4757 I'll actually say the guns are good. It's the mission structure, the bland level design and the awful controls inherited from Heroes that really make Shadow suck
