THIS IS A RE-UPLOAD BECAUSE MY LAST ONE GOT FUCKED SOMEHOW, YAY =-=-=-=-= LINKS =-=-=-=-= Subscribe: / channel Discord: / discord Banner Art By: x.com/segastar... #sonicthehedgehog #sonic #sega
My biggest thing is that this is a SHADOW game, which for the 1st time he isn't just a copy of Sonic since 06, which differentiates his gameplay from the normal sonic game.
I'm glad someone understands this because I shit you not there was this idiot who said Shadow Generations was a "copy-paste" from the other games like people actually HAVE that opinion when Shadow has a variety of other game changing abilities??? Bffr
shadow did had one new ability which was the homing chained in forces you know the one where you homing chained a bunch of buzzbombers but still sonic can also use it if the game was modded but still like you said shadow is just a sonic reskin his quickstep animation when switching lanes has him running like sonic for a sec
@@HaydenPrometheus45 what i meant is i think the homing chained was only made for shadow they just quickly use sonic as a base like i said shadow in forces is just a sonic reskin with some different effects and different sound effects and animations sonic forces just had a rough development cycle like episode shadow only has two levels, it reused two existing levels from the main game with a different layout like enemies and traps and stuff
Personally i think the chaos control ADDS to the speedrunning element it requires you to add enemies to your routing yet it still does require you to stay on the higher paths or else that extra 5 seconds chaos control adds mean nothing if your having to spend that time just trying to get to a higher path instead of using it to save 5 seconds on something that matters
I don’t think pariah was trying to say it’s unfair he just doesn’t think it’s as fun. Which makes sense he doesn’t even like Score based s ranks bc it insecticides slower play than just going as fast as possible. It makes perfect sense he doesn’t like enemy routing
As other pointed out, what's the issue with stopping the in-game timer really? if every player can use it, it's still a fair competition. It basically adds a new layer of replayability, by making players learn the level layout (including enemies, capsules, etc) to make the best route while also prioritizing the Chaos Control to make skips and get a better time. (Also I thinks it's really cool when videogame mechanics and/or powers affects the Game-HUD too, it adds more immersion to the game)
Real ones know this is a reupload due to audio issues Anyways,I thank God everyday that my tablet is older than dinosaurs therefore it cannot use Twitter for reason such as this drama
I’ve heard some of Pariah’s takes in the past, and this doesn’t really surprise me much. He’s not bad by any means, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, but Chaos Control being bad?? Nah. Chaos Control is what _made_ this game.
In my playthrough I CONSTANTLY Spammed the Chaos Control abilities, your basically spoon fed chaos meter, it’s like what you talked about in the previous video with meter management, I see what he’s saying but it’s not really a point that he was cooking with since well unless your absolute dogwater at the game you are like I said, spoon fed chaos energy
NOOOO pls! dont let ppl start drama with chaos control, im with u on this one dude, chaos control is such a cool ability i want to see it stay in future games
honestly, gathering what's been said from the comments(cuz i don't want to watch a 13 minute long video on twitter drama 💔) i think that chaos control is a fine mechanic, you don't get to use it willy nilly because there are certain points that benefit from it more than others, and it gives shadow something distinct while not making him completely different from sonic - and i think that's perfect it's like sa2 - they don't play the same, but its more refined than "shadow doesn't get the bounce for some reason" and more "they have different toolkits and different intricacies but still play similarly", and if you don't like chaos control that much - why not just... play generations? it's right there in the package and it plays really well, so i don't see the issue, and also - it's not anything unfair in time attacks, everyone has it - you use it for unique routing options such as the beams you travel through or special shortcuts another comment brings up a fair point of getting "too much chaos energy" for the chaos control meter, but i personally think its perfectly fine, it has good pacing and doesn't feel like you're stuck at a point with not enough chaos energy to get a shortcut you earned - and i think its constant usage makes it feel like an actual tool in your toolkit than just being set dressing
2 minutes into the video and it gives more "debate" vibes than "drama", which I'm happy about, and I hope it stays that way for the rest of it... Edit: Ok the rest of the video was pretty chill actually, I liked it
Yeah I won’t lie the “kinda” did a lot of heavy lifting for my title LMAOO tho I did see some people get very heated about it and then used that as a reason to hate on Pariah which I uh… wasn’t in love with
There are levels where chaos control is MANDATORY for S-ranks. Not an option for slower play, but mandatory during your peak play. Also Radical Highway has higher difficulty and S-rank requirements and it turns out to be my least favourite stage because of it. High skill play incentivises fast times and precision, which discourages exploration. In my opinion, main levels should be less strict so players are not punished for indulging their curiosity, since Sonic fans are so adamant about having multiple highly different paths. These alternate paths shouldn’t be there just so high skill players can avoid them. They should provide a change of pace when you play the level for the umpteenth time. I do however think that it’s perfectly okay and even recommended that the challenges should prioritise fast and precise gameplay over exploration, because you already explore in the main stages and challenges tend to be highly curated and with a single path anyway. Also for the love of all that is holy, I hope they’ll add the collectibles to the map, because I have 2 more bolts and 6 more chests to find and I can’t find them for the life of me and I searched that damned hub world up and down and all around!
The presence of a fastest path doesn't invalidate the other paths for high skill players. You aren't going to know which path is optimal, and experimenting with the level is where a lot of the fun comes from. Routing complexity is where the depth of boost style levels comes from, with classic-style exploration being very much secondary.
@ yeah, but my point is that faster paths should not make the others less optimal, when you discover them. And let’s not pretend like the boost gameplay can’t change priorities. You enjoy finding the optimal paths, I want to be able to enjoy all paths, regardless of which one is optimal and without being punished with a lower rank, which is why I never liked the strict SA2 ranking system for good, branching levels. In fact, I don’t even want to know which paths are optimal, because in my opinion, they’re all awesome. Kingdom Valley is a prime example of amazing level design and it would be a shame for the game to incentivise you to run past it all, when challenges already do that.
i like how you’re actually playing the game and complaining about your play instead of others just commenting over some gameplay , caught me off guard the first time but I find it very funny
I gave an instant dislike when Pariah started complaining about Chaos Control and stopped watching the video when he continued whining about it. The Chaos Control is one of the most fun unique elements of the game, and the whole idea of making the clock continue breaks the "awesome" aspect of the Chaos Control.
He made a follow-up video. In it, he said he used a mod so that chaos control didn't affect the timer, but in that case, what's the point in using it anymore?
@@thecoolestguy847but it's because a lot of Sonic fan including me like to fight each other by speedrunning the levels. But if there is no timer to show how much Time you spent then how do we do? It's a shame because doing Time attack within a community is something really fun
@@raytek8837 speed run and time attack still exist, everyone has the same movement options and Chaos Control so I don't understand how that legitimately breaks that.
So they're upset because there's a thing that stops the timer when you use it? Bruh, Crash Bandicoot's time trials have the Time Crates - they stop the timer for a few seconds when you break them. And I don't see anyone in the speedrunning community complaining about it. These guys should make Chaos Control part of their skill-based arsenal to race against the clock rather than as a hindrance to their self-imposed challenges. If it's in your arsenal and everyone can use it, it's fair game.
They really just should add new leaderbords, where chaos control doesn't stop in game timer. Literally why not, it's gonna satisfy everyone in that drama.
3:34 So the funny thing is, you can skip the Doom dude to grab the first one and then go back for the top route one. Also yeah, their take was pretty weird, sounds like a "said before playing"/"not put into practice" type thing. Not that I know when the opinion was stated, it'd only be weird if the game was out.
@@SendoDX I just did a quick playthrough for a friend, and ended up getting on the rail backwards. So it is possible to collect them in correct order. Which is crazy since I tried intentionally doing that in my first playthrough, and I did it this time unintentionally. Ah, I see.
my issue is that I wanted more story, more cutscenes, more plot. I mean the marketing and prologue anime did this whole thing of building up the prospect of exploring shadows past, but the game didn't really do that.
Speedrunners have an external timer that is unaffected by chaos control anyway so it doesn't matter anyway. And even if the lower paths gave more energy for chaos control to shorten times. What does it matter when the game gives S ranks out for free anyway? Have you seen Moist critical play? He practically gets and A-S rank the entire games on accident and he doesn't even play sonic like that.
Sounds like a issue of less skilled stage clearers being mad speedrunners are using tools the devs game them. Don't let them know about the Chaos Spear strat that lets you skip whole sections without Chaos Control, they'll have a meltdown.
Most people in the comments watch 30 seconds of a pariah video and immediately whine and bitch that he’s a classic purist, when in most cases, he actually enjoys the games quite a bit, but he does voice his issues about a game. I feel like our fan base turn into babies as soon as someone critiques a Sonic game and doesn’t immediately call it peak. Also his favorite Sonic game is Advance 3, so idk how he’s a classic purist… but whatever
Its not even just about Sonic. The manner in which Pariah carries himself would get him disliked in general. No matter the topic. Pariah's general personality is antagonistic regardless of what topic he covers. Which means its possible for some people to agree with him on certain issues yet still dislike him
I heavily disagree, maybe I just like having complex discussions with people rather than yes men confirming my every view, but I don’t see how he would be generally disliked. There’s rarely a video of his where he just straight up shits on a game. I feel like people think pariah hates modern Sonic and all the games, but it’s really not true… even forces he had positive things to say, so idk where you’re getting the negativity argument from
@@sumnahlennon5449Same. I said various times that I probably will only play Sonic Generations. And recently just Sonic X Shadow Generations. 2 3D Sonic games only
@@Cade_The_Squirrel I don’t disagree and I found it a little unhelpful to have them on for most of the game… but fuck man, mephilis needs those things or else the boss is just a visual clusterfuck lmao
I just dont understand why they make sonic US and Sonic JP as a "different" character like the whole idea was not to having consistency between the midias?... Also i kinda don't like why they change some stuff in sonic campaing but eh the game still good
Really, arguing over which regional Sonic represents Sonic better? Wow, Pariah really had to spark up a stupid argument, all for what? Honestly, it just sounds so weird to argue over stupid shit like what represents what better.
Pariah's always been like this. He's annoyingly purist about Japanese sonic being the "real sonic", and dislikes pretty much all of the lore that wasn't created in japan, right down to chili dogs.
@@TheOGWaddleDoo I don’t think it’s a particularly bad convo to have even if I don’t agree with his take on it! At the end of the day, I think regardless of the conversations that spiral out of control about the situation (which is what I was trying to make fun of with the JP vs EN Sonic shtick), Pariah is a very grounded and analytical guy. I fucks with the fact that almost every other video he makes somehow stirs convos in the community, it’s pretty neat.
@@SendoDX I do agree with what you say here. It’s not particularly bad, but I feel that it’s kinda weird to just argue over what represents something better. They both represent stuff in their own ways. But I do agree with you. I can respect a grounded guy who has his facts in check.
@@GVWOLF11 the only time I’ve heard anyone in the real world call it X was a week after the change and they were making fun of it. Even in professional social media management settings people are still calling it Twitter which is so funny lmaoo
@@GVWOLF11 I mean, what would they call the messages then? People still call them tweets and the name really doesn’t matter. Twitter is X, and X is Twitter.
@@SendoDXIt depends if a community is brought together or divided. Regardless of Premy's opinions his intention isn't to divide Sonic fans. Premy also acknowledges that casuals outside the internet have a more important opinion than his on many subjects. Pariah has no middle ground and is quite narrow-minded. Every single time Pariah speaks it divides and devastates the community in some manner. Nothing good comes from a Pariah video regardless of if you agree with him or not. Premy is someone you dont necessarily need to agree.
@ I dont think Pariah’s intent is to divide the community tho, he just makes videos and discusses his reasoning for feeling a certain way and the community listens. If that ends up sparking discussion that causes waves in the community, I think that just means it was a discussion worth having. I guess my TL:DR is - regardless of Pariah’s intent, if the discussion spreads and causes a lot of community discussion, I think those convos are worth having.
I understand Pariah's opinions but what I don't understand is why he'd bring a lot of them in certain videos like when he was talking about Shadow the Hedgehog 05's story then went on a 20 minute tangent about how SEGA forgot Eggman pissed on the moon or wtv Pariah has some good takes, but I feel like the bad takes outweigh them a whole lot unfortunately
I think his content is unscripted so it kinda makes sense, but either way I see where you’re coming from. Definitely not a style of content thats for everyone and I definitely don’t agree with a lot of his takes either
Anyway back to what I was saying Chaos Island is definitely my favorite level in this game. Chaos Control is utilized very well with groups of five enemies in each path meaning that you can go to the lower path, kill the enemies, use Chaos Control, jump to the faster path, kill those enemies and use Chaos Control again. The level has a lot of activity to keep me engaged, alot of short cuts and Doom Morph. I really like Doom Morph even if a lot of people don't like it that much but the one problem I do have with it is it's control. If you played Frontiers you'll know that whenever you go on a wall your directional movement is dictated by the camera. This makes it hard to know which direction Shadow is going to move before it happens and it is an issue that should be addressed but I didn't have many problems with it. Idk why they chose Chaos Island to be the level that came back because Asteroid Coaster was RIGHT THERE but I guess they chose Chaos Island for visual variety.
