This video games actually looks like a video game instead of something thats trying to look ultra realistic. We need more gamier games like this

This game doesn't hold a candle to SW1 or 2. They tried to doomify it so now we just have another Doom Eternal Clone. Stick to the last 2 games if you liked Lo Wangs humour because there's absolute zero in this. If you liked Doom Eternal then play Doom Eternal. If you liked Shadow Warrior then play the last 2. Not saying Shadow Warrior series is a masterpiece by any means but if you wanted Shadow Warrior in the third in the series you just won't get it. Shadow Warrior 1: 12 hours to complete Shadow Warrior 2: 7 hours to complete Shadow Warrior 3: 5 hours to complete One thing that has gone up though is the price lol.

weird to me that everyone is bashing this game for being "repetitive" considering that shooter games are inherently repetitious - you shoot the same enemies with the same guns over and over again, doesn't seem like this one is any different

I've had this game on my radar ALL last year. It's like you took the gameplay pace of Doom Eternal and then mashed it with the lighthearted nature of Shadow Warrior. Also, it may just be me, but the COLORS in this game are what sell me more than anything. In every gameplay video, and it's especially good to see it in actual review videos, the color palette usage is really vivid. I am excited.

I've been hoping for around 20 years now that one day we'll get a game that allows Lo Wang, Duke Nukem, and Serious Sam to team up in a shooter. The one liners, and such, could be flying nonstop if it were to happen and be worth the price of admission on it's own.

We need more games like this. This game reminds me of Bulletstorm. A very underrated game.

I’m so bummed. There is like 6 guns instead of thousands. There is no real depth of upgrading. No exploration. It’s so rare I’m this let down by a sequel of a game I love. Now that I know it is a short linear game I’m just uninstalling it and reinstalling shadow warrior 2. Which is 100’s of hours long.

Suggestion: adding timestamps or chapters in the video for the different sections would be really nice. I love your takes on story and gameplay but im not someone who necessarily cares deeply about in depth reviews of sound and audio

I legit forgot this was coming out although I was excited for this game (absolutely loved first 2 games) but then I heard that Devolver said that they replaced Lo Wang's VA because "correcting our mistake of casting a voice actor inconsistent with the hero Lo Wang’s cultural background". And they got KOREAN VA to voice CHINESE character, seriously wtf, that is even more racist. Since when are Koreans and Chinese the same, wtf. Previous VA was one of the main reasons why games were loved by many of us ffs, and they replaced him cuz of freaking pc pandering. And with just 6 hours of length I really dont see a reason to pick it up, I might just replay previous 2 games again.

Game looks like alot of fun. Too bad the length of the wang is so short.

I just can't understand why they chose to make it so short. who on earth thinks five hours for a game is worth it? Its one thing to not like games that are purposefully bloated to increase playtime, but its worse when a game doesn't even have a ten hour playthrough.

Seems like a downgrade content wise. Shadow warrior 2 had alot of replayability

Honestly, this is about what I expected from a Shadow Warrior game. Shame to hear about the length but doesn't bug me too much. Very excited to play this one tomorrow on PC.

Hmm the voice actor change really put me off in the trailers, didn't hear too much from him in this review (to not spoil the quips etc I guess). Just some bad timing this close to two absolutely massive games, Forbidden West and Elden Ring, and then same day as Elex 2 (not everyone's cup of tea but definitely mine) will need to check it out at a later time. Great review but to be honest I cant support these devs when the main protagonist voice actor was replaced at the end of game development with other voice actor. Half of amaziness was Lu Wang original one.

I really want to buy this game but it is too short to justify spending $50 on it. If it ever gets to $30 I might spring for it.

I did not enjoy this. I went back and played Shadow Warrior 2013 and 2 right before this and the combat and speed is a step down. Shadow Warrior 2 is a much faster game. There is so much bad to say about this game but I'm not gonna bother. I enjoyed the first two games much more.

Shadow Warrior games are the Duke Nukem games we never got. I can't believe i'm still playing shadow warrior, serious sam games in 2022 and they are actually good. Is this real life?!

I really like Devolver Digtal and the other Devs that are behind this franchise. I want to support their work, I just don't think enough to pay $70cdn for a title that's nearly 7 hours of platforming/Arena shooting. I enjoyed the first two games of this franchise.. Although I can't say I returned to them more than a couple times after plaything them through. These games really do feel awesome go play.. I love the smooth movements with moving as fast as you do in these games.. It's great. The weapon variety was pretty good in SW2. The loot aspect was alright, still not something i really took advantage of in "end game". They added features to the game so that it wasn't just over if you just finished out the campaign. That's likely what I see them doing here in the sequel. -- Fun games and cool Developers 👍 I'll probably pick this game up sometime here soon.

This is a bit disappointing. I liked the first two games and from the looks of the trailers and a bit of game play looked like this will be as well. But the fact it's short, and not much replay ability kinda stinks. The first game was kinda like this from the sound of it. Second game though did pretty well, it seemed a bit longer and it definitely had replay ability just maybe not a lot of it. It had it's problems but seemed like the creators stayed around at least for a bit to add a few extra stuff to it while working on Shadow Warrior 3. Like adding in a Christmas theme with a few extra weapons etc. But the jewel and crafting system was kinda random and also boring. None the less there was still people really enjoying going back through the generated levels and finishing other generic missions that the game randomly made for you after you finished it. And the co-op was a nice addition as well. From the look of this, no co op? And I am guessing we get somewhat the same for randomly generated levels with random missions after you beat the game maybe? I will no doubt still get it, but again this seems a bit of a disappointment especially when they delayed it at the last possible moment for 3 more months. Probably just wait maybe for a small sale on it first, especially if there are any bugs etc that need patching out within the first week. I had it at the top of my wish list to. It's not looking good though when this game came out now alongside so many other games bidding for attention. It's gonna get missed by a lot of people who are playing Elden Ring or the other many games coming out now. Especially when if I didn't know about these games I might not even see it since I have yet to see any marketing for it now either. This is really not good and might hurt the company that their newest game isn't really getting noticed (from lack of marketing) and being released when so many other games are being released now. I am worried this will cause us to not get a Shadow Warrior 4 until a lot longer or at all. :(

Wonder why this game is so short. SW2 was quite meaty; I loved the shuffled level design that gave the game a kind of longevity. Sure, the loot system wasn't all that good, but the gameplay was a good step up from the first one. Definitely makes me want to wait for a sale, though, 6 hours is just not enough bang for your buck.

With all of the major media outlets out there along with indie RU-vidrs, I find myself coming to ACG for reviews before anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

I was super excited for SW3 since I first heard about it. But changing the voice actor just for the sake of "good boy" points is a real shame. It looks like they must have taken out all the customization of SW2 as well. (I assume if it was in there ACG would have mentioned it) Unfortunately, gonna have to vote with my wallet on this one. We can't reward companies for shitting on loyal employees. (not to mention that new trailer has some really flat VA for Wang)

Just started playing it with my PS Now pass, and it’s fantastic, the colour palette and gameplay beautifully designed. Just a big shame that it’s only 5/6 hours long, though you will have one great journey.

What a awful letdown of a game. VA is awful, katana has been reduced to just mashing r1, and it seems rushed.

$50 for a 6 hour game? Nope. That game length should be in the $20-30 price range at most.

Im playing shadow warrior 2 sucks the voice actor isnt the same.

The environments seem a lot less detailed then the first one, kind of a shame the environment is what made the Build engine games so engrossing.

It's a pity that the excellent co-op feature from 2 didn't make it to 3.

Platform, shoot, platform, shoot. Any shooter from the 90's wasn't this boring. They skipped over exploration, secrets, and fun level design which is this genre's bread and butter.

Because of the whole voice actor controversy this wasn't a day one buy for me anyways. I just can't get used to the new voice, it sucks so much compared to the awesome VA in the last two games. And the game being this short makes it even easier to skip at full price and maybe pick it up in a deep sale someday.

Wow I really didn't expect it to be only six hours long. I knew it was coming in slightly under the typical price, but I figured it would be a little longer. These sorts of shooters are becoming more and more common since Doom 2016 showed how much people wanted them, so I think you need to pull out all the stops when $20-$30 games of a similar design are getting better every day.

So happy that they ditched that weird looter shooter Shadow Warrior 2 decision. I loved the first one for its humor and tight combat mechanics, but really didn't like all of the changes in the second game. Looks like I'll be picking this one up though!

Doesnt seem that long ago to me since the last one came out. I really like this IP and didnt realize a 3rd was incoming so this is a nice suprise.

This game in preorder on PS gives you SW1 and SW2, so I think that`s not bad, but alone for 49$ is a bit too much

I loved the first two Shadow Warrior games, so I'm definitely getting this game. Now now, however. I have to beat HFW and I also bought Mass Effect Remastered, so my next couple months are tied up.

Are the enemies just sponges on harder difficulties like in part 2 or have they changed that?

It is nice when action games have forgiving platforming. It is a genre I have long grown tired of but it does add to the variety.

Personally didn't mind the VA change for Wang, it might be racist because it's a korean guy voicing a chinese guy in a super stereotypical asian way but it's still really fun to hear him speak (Or it's because i'm asian). Personally i wouldn't say he's better or worse than Wangs original voice actor, they both did their job right. But the gameplay IMO was such a relieve from the Looting system from SW2, i wouldn't say i didn't like the looting system in SW2 but it gets a little bit unfun for me after a while. The gameplay is so fun even though you're basically playing DOOM with a katana and magic added on to it but like, who cares?

I played both shadow warrior games and to me personally, these games are best picked up from a deep sale in like a year. even though they are fun, by the end you feel how repetitive everything is..

This is my review on pc version. I'll start with the good ones. The game is fun. The graphics is great especially the environment and lighting. The not good ones in this game. First, it's a stutter mess on pc. Fps drop anywhere. The game is too short. The game suddenly cuts you with a cutscene even just from jumping to another way. The combat can be a mess with all the colors, effects, enemies, and collectibles showing on your screen. The gameplay is repetitive too. Go platforming kill go platforming kill. Last the price is way too much for the content we get from the game. Overall, it's still enjoyable. It's like I'm playing shadow warrior with doom and crash bandicoot.

Until present, only seven playable of Chinese background the video game characters(without Made in China) owning enough reason to convince people like me(really and really dislike VG) during 20 years. Well damn, I didn't buy this when it came out 2 years ago because I heard it was nothing more than an arena shooter, like the newer Doom games, which are not my style. But you don't say anything about that here. In fact, watching the video, it appears to play a lot like the original 1997 and the 2013 Shadow Warrior games, both of which I loved. So can anyone here clarify? Is this game more similar to the 1997 and 2013 games, or is it basically an arena shooter?

As a camera operator, chromatic aberration is quite possibly the mortal enemy other than maybe low refresh rate LED lights.. I don't fucking understand this modern trend, it's almost like they went and they're like what are the eighties like, CRTs oh let's find us CRT and you know cuz good luck finding a CRT that's actually properly in tune nowadays, well it looks it's got chromatic aberration well that's cool.. let's put a VHS in that's been disintegrating for the last 20 years if not more oh it's got that too it's cool it's it's retro! It's not fucking retro it's not fucking good, you don't want that and and you take great pains to get rid of it when it comes to footage and shooting and photography.. usually the result of cheap shitty equipment that you shouldn't be using in the first place.. or broken displays and recording media LOL it's not a good thing.. But tying in post effects into the single setting has never been a good thing, it never will be a good thing and whoever came up with that idea really needs to get stuffed into a Russian doll and see how he likes it or they like it or whoever..

I'm sorry, 6 hours?! Er... no. SW2 was epic, and had an excellent difficulty that was patched in post launch to really extend the game.

"Shadow Warrior"? I was expecting a dark looking game, but there's just too much color on the screen, I couldn't even look at the gameplay because my eyes hurt....
