I really think Magnus and Alec both tore down eachothers walls around their hearts, not to be dramatic but they really found each other at a perfect moment. And throughout the show we see Alec kinda open up to Magnus and to others around him and seem more natural instead of before we see him closed off from others

Amanda Row who directed this episode and Joshua Butler who directed 3x18 are truly the best directors for Malec scenes imo. The way this scene and their 3x18 break-up flow so smoothly, the pure serenity of the morning after scene, and even the break-up scene, even though it's heartbreaking - they're simply some of the show's best work. I was left completely speechless after their break-up because of how well done it was and the morning after scene is so soft, so much like a safe space, which perfectly encompasses their relationship. It's been almost a week since the show ended and I miss it so much already, I'm always going to miss them and I'm forever grateful for scenes like this one.

Their acting is so natural; none of this feels scripted! It says a lot about their relationship with minimal dialogue. Magnus’ moment of panic when he thinks Alec is leaving speaks volumes; who knows how many times he woke up to finding his partner had left and didn’t really want to be with him. Alec’s act of staying is so meaningful. Plus Magnus’ “then I met you” is just…wow. Like he’s really saying that he made himself vulnerable to fear again just because Alec meant that much to him!! A subtle yet powerful way of telling Alec that he’s changed his life, and Alec is worth facing his fears for! At this point in the show - since it’s a flashback to post 2x07 - neither of them have said “I love you” aloud yet, but you can see it here in their faces and behavior. And the golden lighting is so beautiful and very symbolic of how they’ve created their own little world of just the two of them … OMG this is all just so cute!!!

Like maybe making Alec immortal. The thought of alec growing old and dying while magnus has to live without him is just painful. As sweet and soft as the bed scene is, taken as a whole, it hurts so damn much. How Alec pulls away when Magnus is trying to reach out, to comfort him and goes to sit with and support his family. The look on Magnus's face when he reluctantly distances himself... And then Alec later tries to reach out to him, but Magnus has already made his decision for the good of his people, his own "family"... 😭💔😭💔

Unrelated but I kinda love how Magnus is still wearing makeup?? Like sometimes he uses it as a defense mechanism (2x15 beginning, anyone? Or his whole ensemble in 2x13?), putting his walls up, but he's genuinely happy and at least mostly open here, so it's a chance to see that sometimes he truly does just enjoy it :). God why am I crying? Like right now I am literally crying. This scene was beautiful. I dont know how to describe the things this scene made me feel. It was pure, sad, cute... I was in love with Malec's love since I've read the books 3 years ago and watching this show made more fell in love. If we dont get a 4th season I just hope in the final episode we can get a wedding or something. Anyways I am gonna cry in the bathroom. #malec #saveshadowhunters
