Hafeez Jalandhari, born as Muhammad Hafeez in 1900, had a natural talent for poetry from a young age. Under the guidance of Maulana Ghulam Qadir Girami, he honed his skills as a poet. His most celebrated work, "Shahnameh-e-Islam," filled a gap in Urdu literature, similar to renowned Persian epics like Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh and Masnavi-e-Maulana-e-Rum.
In "Shahnameh-e-Islam," Hafeez masterfully narrates historical events, especially those tied to religion and national sentiment. His writing evokes strong emotions in readers, keeping them engaged throughout. Apart from this epic, he also wrote many Nazms (poems) like "Naghmat-e-Raz" and "Soz-o-Saz," which are admired for their pleasing style rather than deep philosophical themes.
