Awesome breakdown of one of the most underrated young stars in the NBA (and he's absolutely a star). It's really rare to see such detailed explanations of all the real-time moves these guys use to pull off this stuff accompany the discussion of their teams' strategies and how they execute them. I just watched your video on the Jazz's offensive strategies and I'm hooked. Your analysis has so much clarity and depth. Amazing work. SGA's hesi moves (especially the way he sometimes brings his ankles into the motion while doing them 😬) give me serious Grant Hill vibes, but with better pull-up shooting (especially from 3) and worse (but still solid) rim attacking. I'm surprised I haven't seen the comp thrown around very much, honestly, since they're not that far off in height. I think what throws people off is how they get their guys open, since SGA's threat is so much more dependent on his craft at the rim and pull-up proficiency versus Hill's burst and preternatural ability to find cutters, even though their skillsets match up pretty well otherwise. Also I think the fact that most people see Hill as a forward and SGA as a guard plays a part, as do age differences among fans. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Shai is a very unique player a combo guard with a very long wingspan and crafty finishing skills. In his third season hes already clocked one a very efficient scoring season as the primary scoring option. Can definitely see him carrying the offensive load in the future. More concerned about his fit with other offensive superstars about his off ball game? With that said, last season s okc 3 guard lineup of CP Shai and Shroeder as well as Gallo and Adams had a league best net rating at one point. I think his ceiling is definitely a franchise superstar with him improving every year. Also has the tools to be a very good defender as well. With rising talents in the team like bazley, dort and poku, i think their record will improve and more credit will be given to shai.
8:31 should be Dorian Finney smith. People always get them mixed up lol. I feel that Shai is elite and efficient but one thing he lacks is a pullup 3 game? His shot mechanic is a bit funky and slow so he doesnt really shoot off the dribble 3s off the pick and roll
🤦♂️ damn! I always go back to do a player check to make sure I got them all right... And yeah his off dribble shooting 3 is below 30%! I do agree, will be a key area to improve upon as his career continues. Great points.
@@AndrewMHoops How on earth you dont? just 22 years and the dude is: long and flexible enough to guard 1, 2 and the 3 in some matchups. A very capable off ball player. even when playing with other ball dominant guards. capable and effcient as a playmaker (2.0 ast/to ratio) , elite efficiency when creating his own shots. He is like a dream to build around or with. It doesnt get much better that that except you get yourself a young lebron, KD, curry or a monster of that kind.
