Shakespeare Sigma 2200 060 - Made in Japan, 1980 - Fixed Spool Spinning Reel.
Shakespeare's all metal 2200 series were an excellent series of reels and this one, the 060 suitable for heavy freshwater and light sea fishing, is one of the best of that excellent series. A truly fantastic reel and one of my favourite reels of all time.

This series works best in the larger sizes for me. The smaller ones are good but from size 6 and up they are outstanding. As you say the drags are a wonderful thing.

There is a plastic collar piece that goes on the main gear that, if missing, or not turned the proper way will cause the anti-reverse to click loudly as yours is doing. These reels were revolutionary in that they were one of the first to have silent anti-reverse.

It’s that the largest one so the Sigma 2200 series? Anyway to keep anti-reverse on but quiet for when fishing and want to be stealthy?

Hi. Sorry for the delay. Not the largest as the 070 and the 080 are bigger than this one in the same series; all great reels. Piling grease (not oil) on anti-reverse pawl (dog) and its catch-wheel with subdue the click some but the fish won't mind a bit of clicking.

Auction sites, sale rooms, shops etc though some I have had for many years, I started fishing in the 1970s. I'm trying to cut down as if I get many more I'll have to move into the yard. Tight lines !
