i love your channel! no nonsense, no commentary, great direction, presentation and cinematography! you could use some ambient cooking sounds u record while shooting the video as well at the background!
Thank you so much it was so delicious!!! My grandma always made this for me. I used fresh tomatoes instead of diced tomatoes. I also didn’t add sugar, because it already tasted really sweet maybe because of the tomatoes that I used and green bell pepper. My boyfriend couldn’t stop with eating😂. Thanks again great recipe and you can add your own twist without messing it up.
@@mrstabriz8105 i’m so late but north african here’s its SO MYCH BETTER with fresh tomatoes you break down urself. take it from me. U don’t need to add sugar it’s always sweet and balanced and yummy
I don't even know how I found this video, it looked so delicious that I had to make it myself, and I'm addicted to it now! Oddly enough after finding it, I started seeing it in a lot of TV cooking shows, on magazine covers, etc. It seems to be the dish of the moment.
Chakchuka is a summer dish that North africans (algeria, marocco, tunisia) prepare when tomatoes and peppers are naturally tastefull , so no need to add tomato paste, it's not natural. Traditionally we add garlic. In algeria we have several kinds of chakchuka: the one whith paprikas, the one with aubergines, the one with tomato and garlic, the one with zuchinni, and a very delicious one whitch is called "chakchouka machouia",you first gril vegetables before you put them to cook in oil. The respect of seasons and the quality of vegetables are very important, in Europe you find the hole year nice vegetables but mostly without taste and not natural.
Home Cooking Adventure It's not easy for me because english is not my language, but I ll try: fist you have to grill 1 kg peppers (green or green and red), 300g ripe tomatoes,1 or 2 chilli peppers (optional). You put everything in a heat oven 200° and you let it + - 1 hour. When the peel because black take the vegetables out from the oven and let them cool down and peel them (never under water). Put then 8 or 10 garlic cloves in a mortar till you get a paste, you can add dried chilli (optional). Put 12 soup spoon oil (mix of olive oil and sunflower) in a heat pan, add your garlic paste and add 1 soup spoon powder paprika, add immediatly your peppers and tomatoes dises , let it cook, mix from time to time ,it does not have to burn, when water is absorbed add some eggs (4) and let it cook 1 or 2 minutes. This is chakchouka with grilled vegetables from Oran . Add a little beat olive oil befor you serve it.
+MB B You did a nice job. That was very clear and easy to understand and you only had a couple small spelling errors. Your English is very good. I just wanted you to know that. (And I'm an English teacher.)
I've seen recipes for this dish all over, and this is the first time I've seen it made with canned tomatoes, but especially with a *bell pepper* added to it. The bell pepper seems like a nice and tasty variation. This, served with some crusty bread (like those shown) and some black Turkish tea, and I'd be in virtual heaven. Thanks!
my family loves this although i make do with whatever i have but the main ingredients must be tomato , olive oil and of course eggs. thks from malaysia
I just made your Shakshuka recipe and it was to die for!😍 I couldn’t believe for so much food it was so little calories. Definitely becoming one of my staples.
I had this in a cafe in a park in Ruislip. Tasted fantastic. Your video is incredibly easy to follow. I might have a go at making it. Thanks for the video. Oh by the way, There was also a generous helping of feta cheese in my shakshuka!
It’s a Tunisian dish. Stop making it a maghrebi dish. Who cooks the most with tomatoes, harissa, eggs and 🫑 🌶 in the North African region? 😉 you can cook it fine, but don’t make your own.
I tried this recipe yesterday, it was delicious! I added some goat cheese at the end. I'm saving this recipe for sure! Thanks for making me discover Shakshuka 😋
No , it's not ; Turkish menemen is a kind of shakshuka : menemen contain cheese and sujuk and without onion , shakshuka is without cheese . Every dish a mixture of eggs and tomatoes is a shakshuka and there are many types : it's originally Tunisian and Lybian but it becomes a Mediterranean dishes !
gémeaux 24, you are completely wrong in many ways... Turkish menemen is basically made of Tomatoes ,green peppers (bell peppers are just as fine) and eggs. There is second way, you can add onions. There are different options for toppings like yellow cheese, white cheese, sucuk in menemen is possible but not very much desirable. Any nation who has these basic ingredients for summer time can cook it and name it in their language. It does not need to be originated from this or that country. More than that none of these Mediterranean countries had this dish, up until a couple of hundreds years ago. Because, tomatoes originated from South America not from North Africa....By the way, Turks have another dish called as “Saksuka”, which is a fried eggplant based cold vegetable platter mixed with tomato sauce. Another variation of this might have yogurt accompanied with the platter.
I'm from tunisia and I've been following you since a long time and shakshuka is a tunisian dish , so I'm so impressed that you've cooked it :D well done !
Tunisia here as well, amateur cook and following this channel since about 2 month now and i like it :) common variation on this is to add green pepper for color or sprinkle of chopped spring onion. Merguez ( sausage) addition is very popular in Tunisia. cheers
in our version of Shakshuka, we only use onions, tomatos, eggs and seasonings. After the onions and tomatos are done we mix them with the eggs and cook the mixture like scrambled eggs. your version is to be tried soon, looks awesome!
@@jamesbrown-fb1gk there are a lot of variations but the diffrence is in the tomato ratio and also some of the spices are different but yeah ayscha (ouja ) is a different thing
No, u have no idea bcoz its not tunisian... its an egyptian word, hence an EGYPTIAN dish.. u may have a variation of it... and u DO NOT call it SHAKSHOUKA
I’m half Turkish my mom always made this for me every morning growing up she would sometimes add sujuk my gosh it was so good my grandma recently send me sujuk from turkey can’t wait to make this for my Family and introduce them to my country’s fav dish
All respect for doing this dish, I am Palestinian and we also do Shakshuka! and thanks for all your creative dishes, if you want more Palestinian/Arabic dishes, please let me know 😉😉
I'm from Algeria and we prepare this dish as well (tshektshouka ^^) sounds funny but taste delicious... I love your videos i've been following you since such a long time cuz ur recipes are so simple yet easy to make and delightful. Think you :*
Always when I am in Marrakech, usually twice a year, I cook this too. Unfortunately now we cannot travel, so I cook it tonight-here in Zurich. #stayhealthy
I see myself adding some grated cheese on top throw that ish in the oven and boom!... Spoilt years of tradition but then the heart wants what it wants 😭😅
The problem is this diet is designed to reduce inflammation, candida overgrowth and the problems that come along with the consumption of foods like cheese. You’re not only spoiling years of tradition but you’re destroying your gut health.
I absolutely love no commentary. Which part of the Middle EastIraq? Or Iran I lived in Iran for 10 years so it's a little familiar but they make it a lot easier it looks delicious
I'm Turkish and in our kitchen shakshuka is made of fried potatoe, eggplant, carrot, and pepper. There are yoghurt with garlic and some tomatoes top of it. I hope so that i can tell you. My English is not so well.
It's almost 4am here in the Philippines & am watching this while I'm drooling. Good thing am already full. Thank you so much for sharing. Wanna try to cook this for my breakfast
Just cooked it with what was in my cupboard easy chile, easy garlic, curry powder instead of cumin and sweet paprika . It was delicious A great descriptive video It was as good as it looks thanks a lot
Ala Z it's Turkish food came by Othmanly empire to the east and west , Algerian , tunisien kitchen very poor even then don't know how to use many kind of masala and vegetables
I am almost done making this recipe! I have followed every step. Almost.... (I omitted red bell pepper causei didnt have it on hand) and i bet it will taste delicious when its fully done!
Shakshuka is an Algerian recipe that our brothers and sisters fromTunisia and Morocco also do ! Hope y'all like it PS ; I didnt learn it that way with sugar and paprika but it still tastes really good. I add extra harissa for more flavor and beef.
Loving your channel! The recipes, the talented way of putting together the video and best of all the choice of music. I love the music in this video a lot. Pls give the names of the music pieces in the description so that we too can get hold of it!! Keep up the good work!!! :) :)
Palestinian dish to the core! We grow up eating it on breakfast . But we make it with fresh tomatoes, chili pepper garlic and at the end we add the eggs . That’s it and it tastes much better thanks the tomato paste
It's also Yemeni traditional dish, served mainly as a breakfast. Some Arabic countries and turkey also make this dish! Everyone of them has it's own touch, and it's very tasty! Great video though, keep up.
I used to think its way too refined for someone like me who doesnt have much experience in the kitchen but i guess im gonna give it a try soon ! Thank you
