That’s exactly what I was thinking watching the vid. I know they wasn’t going hard and it’s not much you can take from this clip BUT you can see the punch placements and the accuracy of Shakur and it’s next level…he learned a lot from Bud.
Shakur Stevenson is a master boxer. His combination of distance, defence, IQ and general ring awareness is brilliant to see particularly when you have sparred or boxed before. 👏
This is what I call sparring. Two boxers working on their craft, coupled with skills, techniques, accuracy and timing, without trying to kill one another.
I take shots to land my shots all day long but I got a granite chin so it helps. But I love all styles not everyone can do different styles of fight. This is great sparring.
@@548129636411234 relying on a “granite chin” is not smart at all. You will just end up getting brain damage. Ive got a good chin as well but i dont rely on it. Just look at Gerald McClellan, he had one of the best chins ever but he relied on it too much and forgot about defence, resulting in him getting severe brain damage.
Damn this is what I want to see in boxing. Two skilled fighters. I know it’s sparring and they are not going hard, but they are displaying SKILL. May all the champs fight each other.
@David Welsh Hold your horses lol, 🖐🏿Shakur is not a polished project just yet. Still needs work. You do remember his last fight right? He did good but we all thought it was gonna be better. Ugas would put Shakur🍆 in the dirt. Hands down.
That was impressive, I wish we could've seen that entire sparring session. Shakur Stevenson is getting better and better the more I see him. I can't wait to see him versus a Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopex, or a Tank. This kid is special.
@@edi.duzit23 Yes we did and they are both promoted by who ??? I'm not saying they Never do cross promotion fights, but not often, especially if there is ANY chance of their guy losing. TR likes to get paid twice on big fights. Both guys are paying promoter fees to TR. No matter who wins the fight TR wins.
It’s beautiful. So many variations of it too from the high guard..decoys with the lead, decoys again with his left, straight left to the body…decoys with lead, shoots straight down the line then comes around the gloves again.. dude it’s just beautiful to watch him use his footwork to get outta dodge then immediately be in range to return fire.
Yeah Tank, Ryan, Teofemo,Haney and a couple of these other youngsters have bright futures but Shakur has that Mayweather special talent as long as he keeps working hard and staying focused
Hate to say it but he needs away from Top Rank! They aren’t promoting him right or having him in bigger fights! He’s a Bona fide Hall of Famer. His skill set is just different from everyone else he has this navy power any angle! And his defense is Impeccable!! He’s got to be the next big thing! Idc what nobody say! Him and take Davis will one day become the biggest fight in boxing history whenever it does happen! Can’t wait to watch him take the belt from Herring!! #AlmostGoTime! Let’s gooo!!! May the best man win! 🥊 🏆🥇
@@zThaRipper7 yeah what’s he talkin about Ryan... Ryan who... not the emotionally erratic, big talk no walk Garcia... cause he has three fights 1,2 or 3 will end with him getting KO’ed.
That Boy Shakur is to fast 🥊 and his timing on point! 🎯 We need to see him in the ring asap against some known names so the world can know his Name as one of the Grates! Cause that's What He Is!! 💯 👑
@@448DamonXX the champs are avoiding him. Gary russel said his name but made some excuse as to why it probably won’t happen . I doubt shakur would turn down a fight with Gary so it has to be Gary ducking again
@@libanalsomali7006 no it's not in boxing terms most hit there prime from 28 to 33 some hit it earlier but your not gonna be in your prime for 10 years not in boxing
@@my-merethoughts5742 shakur is helping ugas get better, you can tell by him just holding his head and tapping his stomach, no knock on ugus but there’s levels
Great sparring session. I was very mistaken for sleeping on ugas didn't know who he was until he defeated pacquio. Moreover Shakur Stevenson is an incredible boxer and it looks like he's only getting more advanced.
You didn’t know cause you’re a fanboy and a casual. Anyone that knows boxing knows who he is. If you don’t remember him fighting Porter than you are probably a casual.
Learned a lot just from a 3 min clip. Shakur was working on setting up offense off a lead hand blinder / followed by high /low 2 . Occasionally leading with the back hand uppercut and jab to setup combos against an orthodox is effective. Very good at switching up his punch pace and power to confuse ugas then going right back to his bread and butter blinder / high low back hand. Took away ugas jab with effective parries and counters and controlling the lead hand battle once ugas engaged in it by shooting over it or lining up his 2 thru the cracks in ugas guard. I don’t even have to mention defense we all see that lol.
@@therealdrhankmccoy5047The fact that you said he isn't that good shows me you lack knowledge. Shameful and disgraceful that opinion of yours!! Manny is a Legend
Ugas has the “jake break on”!! , and really didn’t throw any jabs, and there’s a difference in power… looks like they were working on something!! I like Shakur but I’m always looking at this young fighters through my “Ray Leonard” shades!!
@@GOSUmartialarts I really don’t think it would matter man Stevenson is the future I remember being like 13 hearing about him ending the drought of gold medalist for Olympics men’s boxing when he lost it was a shock for sure
Man...I know they are only sparing but you can still see a glimpse of the skill both these guys are displaying. Shakur will be the fighter to beat if you wanna be undisputed in the future though just watch!!
I’ve said it for years; the rest got the hype behind them, especially pbc fighters. But TC and Shakur are the most skilled within their respective competitions.
FighTiming nobody is brawling Lopez or tank unless they plan on getting knocked out. Bud can brawl but he would never brawl with a Lopez or a tank assuming they were his size.
@@wutang5503 Crawford would absolutely dog Lopez and tank that’s out of the question. But shakur another story. I think years down the line he’s gonna be top dog. His skill set is wayyyyyyy to good.
Ugas wasn't even trying. They both were working. Stevenson will eventually become great once he steps up in competition and stays fighting champions after champions. He is a beast though and I also see him up there with the greats one day.
@@MikeDTheRealOne”I’ve seen “ “eye test “ so u kinda disagreeing to really just agree wit me in the end I’m talking about the best at sport of boxing skill set wise now their career can go anyway it’s a lot of factors in professional boxing and politics is a heavy factor and one punch can change any fight we all humans but skills they are top tier already
@@nicholaswilson6251 Boots will be pound for pound the best one day. Shakur will likely be in the mix. I’ve been big on Boots since day one. If you pay attention to my post I’m giving praise to those two legends you named, that came before them. Gotta respect the ones before.
You could tell ugas was chillin, Stevenson was more into it for sure, we’ve seen them both fight, Stevenson fights exactly how he was sparring other than the body’s shots lol but ugas fights nothing like the way he spars.
UGAS was just letting Shakur work and not going hard. And then casuals get on here saying UGAS got beat up Lmmfao 😂. UGAS would have beat Shakur up if he really wanted to.
I appreciate sparring videos of good fighters. It's like watching a high level chess match but only its boxing. I use to box before and watching 2 good fighters spar in person was so entertaining. Wish I could go to the gym and watch champions spar but I can't, I live in Hawaii. So, thanks for these uploads.
I love watching Shakur box. Dude has skills and I can’t wait to see him against the top level fighters. Haney, Kambosos, lomachenko and even against Ryan Garcia. I didn’t mention tank because I’m not sure if he’s going to stay a lightweight
@@leftyloose8576 your a dummy 😅😂🤣 ugas would put this kid to sleep if he really wanted to you can straight up tell he playing with him and going light 😅😂🤣
Stevenson has superlative handspeed and reflexes. Which is why he doesn't need to run or dance. I've seen him spar quite a bit for a few years now and I've yet to see anyone have an edge on him in terms of handspeed and reflexes. Not even Bud.
@@jlongobardy1612 Very true. He's so sharp that he barely had to waste movement. He barely telegraphs his punches and he has one of the best lead foot placements in the game. He appears to be closer than you think and that's also how he's able to evade big shots.
@@kickerse13 "He appears closer than you think" You know, I've never thought about it like that but you're spot on. Excellent observation. I have to imagine this feat of his is the product of his unique & enormous talent, and not something 98% of boxers could duplicate no matter how hard they try nor even if Stevenson himself were their trainer.
The weight difference is only 20 sum pounds you ever fought a guy that weighed more then you in the streets it don’t matter seriously shakur punches where crisp imagine if we was throwing with full force
@@LS4LRecords this aint the streets...it weight classes for a reason. 5 pounds is a huge difference. but the fact you just compared boxing to street fighting lets me know you..... in the words of Roger Mayweather "dont know shit about boxing" any half way decent person that really knows the sport can clearly see ugas isn't going full out. SMH
He is 24 already when will that happen? Pretty boy, Roy Jones, pernell had their man power before they were 24. These new guys not in the same level as The ogs. Jaron ennis and Davis only two from this era that can hang wit the old school .
This guy will be the face of boxing.... out of all them he rarely gets tagged with anything but his Infront of you pressing the fight... His a surgeon in there... highly skilled surgeon..
😂😂😂 that's exactly what I was saying they can say what they wanna say..Shakur was piecing him up and he realized it at certain moments you can tell lol
@@jermainejollajr1131 bruh relax ? Whittaker one of the greatest of all time how about we let shakur beat someone halfway decent before we start saying he’s the next messiah
Work of art. Constantly probing and throwing punches that open up for the next attack. His opponent fights a lot out of high guard. 3-2-3 is a good combination to break up that guard. Pins guard with jab hand and shoots his right hand to the body. Keeps opponents guessing. His sparring partner was pretty much oblivious to what was coming next.
You can see from this. Really how much of a mismatch Spence vs Ugas was. The Manny fight really over valued Ugas!!!! Ugas Style is taylor made for Spence. You can't stand in front of Spence flat Footed for 12 rounds, and try to Counter Punch. Errol is to strong for that 💪!!!
Lol I was thinking the same thing, Bud is smart but Ugas knows Shakur and Bud right he wasn’t trying to show too much to the little guy. I also think he’s too small to really force Ugas to do anything he doesn’t want to do.
