@@mike62mcmanus Corruption is everywhere, and corrupt individuals are even found in the church, the saddest of all, leaders. However this is NOT the teaching of the church! Just look at Fr. Mike as an example of the true teaching. Anyone who commits such evils hides themselves as a Catholic and uses the power for evil. God is not fooled, and neither should we be.

Yes, as a person who’s recently come back to Christ in the last 7 months, attending an evangelical church, I can see there is a lack without a confessional procedure for us to release shame to our father. I will ask my pastor today what he thinks. Praise be to father Mike and all those reading this ❤ Our father forgives us for all our shame, if we know him.

When I went to confession I confessed that I was not a virgin when I got married. We are married a long time. I was afraid to say it outloud because I was so ashamed. I finally found the courage to say it. I felt I so let God down. when I admitted it in confession, I was at peace. Thank-you for these great videos. I never miss one.

It's heartbreaking that any woman would feel shame after being raped. No one, no matter what deserves to be assaulted. When you're raped, it doesn't make you "damaged goods" you were violently attacked by someone full of hate. That wasn't your fault. If your community turns their backs on you for it, there is something wrong with them, not you.

I’ve had a really hard time with shame. Not long ago, I had received the Eucharist while in the state of mortal sin (I didn’t go to confession(I’ll be honest I didn’t have the opportunity to but I still should not have done it)). When I had received the Eucharist, I had felt my grace stripped from me and on the way home I felt guilty. But when I got home, I looked up the consequences of this and a great weight of shame came upon my shoulders. I didn’t want to eat anything before bed or before Easter Mass the next day to atone for what I did. Luckily, my mom was wise and told me the truth that God loves me and that he will forgive me. This video has helped me, thank you. God bless.

Even though we may struggle in life, God is here, he is accepting us, not our sin, but in the face of that sin, when we are repentant, he draws us closer to him. I hope that everyone has someone they can talk to about their shame or guilt they fear. Pray for the future of Man and the misconception of safe future.

The way that I’ve come to understand it in my own life, is that guilt, in and of itself, is a good, healthy thing, a healthy internal response to knowing that I’ve done something wrong. Guilt is healthy, though, only if it drives me to prayer, confession, conversion. If it drives me in any other direction, then it isn’t healthy. Again, speaking from my own life experience, I find that really the only thing that the devil is concerned about in my own life, is keeping me from prayer. In terms of particular habitual sins which I’ve struggled with at times throughout my life, I have struggled with my guilt keeping me from prayer, as I then slip into what I’ve come to call “spiritual depression”. At the end of the day, though, Christ’s cross and resurrection is bigger than my sins; thus, in a very real way, “spiritual depression” is really a form of pride, as I find myself not praying, as I’m so burnt out by my own habitual sins that I adopt a “what’s the use of praying?”, if I’m going to continually slip and fall? I have lately stopped asking for God to remove my temptations, largely, and have instead asked God to teach me how to respond to my temptations in a way that is healthy, and spiritually mature.

I need help, and I have nobody else I can talk to about this stuff. I’m a former drug addict. In my addiction, I did the most horrible things to the most vulnerable and innocent people in my life. I’ve done an about-face since quitting the substances, but I’ve not been able to shed the memories. The demonic scenes continue to repeat inside my mind. I swear I’m not being metaphorical; my body housed demonic entities which pushed me to do so many repulsive and repugnant acts with no justification whatsoever. I deserve d34th for doing so, objectively. But I was blessed to avoid most consequences, and that almost hurts more. I’m a loving dad of two children who I know I don’t deserve, but I’m also devoting my entire being to them and their success. How do I get over this obsession of painful memories?

Thanks for the outstanding insight! Thanks for being such a clear channel of God’s words of love and encouragement for us! Now, what do I do when I’ve told someone about one of these deep wounds of shame, someone who’s in a respected position, who’s supposed to be safe for me to talk to about this wound, who abused his position in my life? Who, it turns out, was not safe for me to reveal this wound to? What do I do now?

In the spirit of truth if you hold on to Shane even though you have not shamed yourself in the eyes of the first and the last / holy spirit you are guilty of shame. In the spirit of truth you do not have to reveal shame or guilt to anybody because anybody else does not matter. What you must do is too seek after that particular understanding of that experience, before God and the Holy Spirit, end it will be revealed to you. .oneffunes. The things in which you do in the spirit of truth is not based on your performance, it's based on your willingness to do. Therefore if you put out all The mind of the spirit that was given to you to do, but you passed out in trying to do so then you Will be revealed as perfect in the eyes of the Holy Ghost.

@celestialsoul4305
@celestialsoul4305 3 года назад
If after you see that you have sinned you ask God for forgiveness with true repentence, He forgives you immediately -- asking only that you take the sin to Confession where He will absolve you of all your sins. Once you have confessed it, think of it no more: It's gone forever! God does not want you to worry over your sins, constantly feeling like you need to keep apologizing over and over. His Mercy is greater than our sins.

Guilt - ...awareness of having violating some objective standard... false guilt/false standard vs true guilt/true standard... (internal; me against the standard) => remedy: confess, admit the truth... - true standard and I violated it => true guilt - true standard and I did not violated it => false guilt ...? - false standard and I violated it => false guilt - false standard and I did not violated it => false guilt ..? PS: reality check: => true standard ((God's 10 commandments) or real evil, harm, or injustice done) vs false standard (society or up bringing or cultural standards or (Mosaic Ceremonial Law?))... ...feeling guilty about not taking shoes off when entering my friend's apartment... Shame - awareness of having failed in someone else's eyes... false shame vs true shame... (involves others; I and how I am perceived, self-esteem is always an esteem of the other ) => remedy: experience acceptance by the other, to boost your self-esteem, your sense of worth... you are the sum of the Father's love for you...

You can ask for forgiveness to God on your own and they shall be forgiven. Also, when attending mass, at the start when they ask for the forgiveness of sins those sins, those considered venial and not mortal, are forgiven. But if you so choose to, you can go again to confession and confess those.

I don't get this, as a catholic, I thought Jesus forgave us for all our sins and that he took all our punishments unto himself as a perfect sacrifice, so why are we being made to feel complete guilt and shame for the rest of our lives. If there is temporal punishment, then the fear of that will always weigh us down when eternal punishment of hell I thought was an ultimate punishment. We are weighed down by guilt. That's not right. We are living an old testament view. Jesus, even forgave prostitutes from their sin and called for the sinful to follow him without punishments but instead with redemption. I am seriously considering leaving the church . The guilt and fear of punishment destroys the soul, it does not free it. A bird who's wings are weighed down cannot fly.

Okay so what if you say something whilst you say it you are 100% sure it’s not blasphemy against Holy Spirit then week later you realise you did say a word against the Holy Spirit. You start to feel the guilt, you go to confession but it’s called an unpardonable sin.. and you still feel the guilt 7 years later and it’s messed up your life. Then also you realise one translation of the bible says those that do this hold their guilt forever. You feel trapped and sorrowful beyond belief... yeah I need help.
@justicehonorie

Guilt has to do with our sense of pain, guilt is a pain, it isn't suffering. It has to do with objects, I did this or that wrong is material and has to do with others. You tell someone for example, to put your prized possession in the bin and they do it and it is gone forever, you aren't going to blame yourself yet it is still guilt because you are still in pain. The pain of loss is guilt. When someone calls you a loser are you going to feel shame or guilt? The difference with shame is you haven't yet obtained.

Catholic guilt is shame. As someone who went to Catholic school the first 12 years of my life, every person there was obviously affected by shame: whether they pushed their insecurities onto others, or harbored them deep inside, I know not a single person that has come out of that school that has not been affected by shame.

Father Mike, I identify with what you are saying... I personally dropped out of seminary due to feelings of guilt and shame... I kept it secret for years and labored to keep it out of my life. When I was sickened and unable to work I looked for help but time and time again my shame is reinforced as men shouldn't be the victim, even if they were just a child... life is so confusing... I pray that the Lord will show me why I'm suffering... sorry if I made this too long to resonablely answer

Paul - I'm sorry you feel so isolated & alone. Many go through the exact same feelings, including myself. Though I never entered seminary (being female I wouldn't), I have many of the same concerns, problems, and feelings as you. What I am finding is I am receiving the healing I need through Christ via the Byzantine Catholic Church. Many of the Eastern Rites (the Eastern "lung" of the Church as St. John Paul the Great was fond of saying) center their spirituality around healing, with Christ being known as the Divine Physician. Believe me, I had a decade worth of serious questions & a lifetime of terrible sins I hadn't confessed - but when I finally did so recently, I received a boatload of things to focus on & do that are not at all burdensome. This is usually accomplished by going to the parish priest who is also often the pastor and takes it upon himself to be Father Confessor and Spiritual Father of his flock. Being that he strives to know his flock personally, you get "customized" acceptance, love and mercy. This often extends to his flock also providing fellowship, love, and acceptance to new and seasoned members of the parish. This is not to put down any other rite of the Catholic Church,- after all different people respond to different approaches in life. I just find that for serious healing, the Byzantine Catholic spirituality is hard to beat & truly obtains what it sets out to do - bring unity of the Church back to Christ so that we all may be one. God's Blessings to you my friend.

Once again Great point my Brother in Christ. Yes it seems totally rational to me that when I have violated some objective standard or fallen short of that standard I should feel guilty. It could be anything where I am aware that I have sinned against or wronged another person. It might even be frankly that I have broken the Law of the land. Indeed, firstly I must confess my sin, then be truly penitent and then agree to repentance of that sin. Frankly I should be willing to do true penance for my sins. Yet you are equally right. Although I should feel ashamed of my sins, equally I should not as a Christian have to carry that sense of shame. So yes confessing it to another whom we trust is a very good idea. God says that he forgives our sins and puts them as far away as the East is from the West. It’s strange but if we continue to feel guilt over our sins and shame that makes us feel we are simply never going to be good enough, we may just return to the same things to just blot out these negative feelings. It would be like reopening a wound that is naturally healing. It would be like reinventing ourselves when we had be successfully treated for an infection. We don’t only ask God to forgive us we ask him to heal us as well. We also ask him to help us not t9 fall into sin again.

"there is no need for a christian to live in shame". Kindness has nothing to do with your religion or anything but atleast you show your true colors at the end like most woke people you are only inclusive and kind to likeminded people.
