Thanks so much for covering this! I'm Destery's former video editor/former roommate and I cut him off years ago. He has this wild manipulation tactic that he does with everyone he comes close to. For example, me, him and his merch designer Leighton would hang out often and Destery would repeatedly tell me in private that Leighton secretly hates me but Destery thinks I'm cool. This psychologically would make me be weary about Leighton but think positively of Destery and believe him more. Leighton would also be told that I hate him, when I never did. Leighton and I found out we never said those things about each other thanks to a big Discord call me and several of Destery's former friend group had once. He wanted all of us to stay quiet and think highly of him. He didn't want several people he was manipulating to communicate with each other. He was trying to act like a cult leader. He did this with all the women he would speak to, too. If one girl finds out he was speaking to another girl, he'd brush it off with a comment like "nah this psycho viewer keeps bothering me, I keep telling her to stop" He also has a vagina rating on his phone from all the girls he's slept with, refuses to wear protection, allegedly has a hard drive filled with every nude he's received (I said allegedly cuz I never confirmed this) and has outright lied about saying he's had sex with women he wants to have sex with, but never did. Back before Shane was canceled, I always wondered why he was friends with all of the “mean” and “bad” influencers like Trisha, Tana mongeau, and jeffree Starr. Like it just seemed he was friends with literally everyone who was known to be morally a sh!tty person. And now it’s pretty apparent why that is, because Shane is not a good person. Point blank he is a crappy guy. If he weren’t, he wouldn’t associate with ANY of these people. And I really question the morality of anyone who still supports him as a person.

i used to love destery when i was 13/14. his IDEK videos were always so funny to me and my friends, to the point some of our inside jokes came from those videos. i had even named my tumblr blog after him (not anymore, i changed it ages ago when i first heard about destery's behaviour). just fucking disappointing how it seems this happens once a year or so, if not more frequent. so tired of people i enjoyed as a teenager turning out to be massive piles of dung.

Dawson has exploited minors in the past, we have seen it, and the fact he is willing to continue a working relationship and a friendship with Destery is very telling of who he is in my opinion. I have tried time and time again to access an old Instagram account to get proof before I came out with this, but fuck it. When I was 13 I actually met up with Destery in Seattle, I was on a school trip there and we actually met up in the parking garage because there was another girl in my room. I was only with him for about 30 minutes until I started to feel uncomfortable and told him that I had to go to the bathroom and left him there. We did nothing but talk, but the entire time he kept trying to touch me and trying to convince me to give him a hug. I’m not asking for anyone to feel sorry for me, nor am I asking anyone to believe me. Please for the sake of myself and all other victims keep your negative comments to yourself.

its even more baffling when you realize, a few years ago when Shane platformed another criminal by the name of Kero the Wolf (zoosadist and zoophile) he actually DID listen to his fans and took down the video. either he never cared in the first place and just wanted to have a clean image, or he doesnt care anymore since his image is already in the garbage.

There was a weird period of time between the stereotypical "watch out for the old pedos in chat rooms that might try to lure you into meeting at a playground" and the recent mainstream epiphany of how harmful social media actually is, where people like Shane and Destery took advantage of the lax rules, simple algorithms, and little-to-no content moderation. Platforms had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I've met others around my age that were also basically groomed by the internet; not just by Shane, Destery, Onision, Cyr, and all the other people that turned out to be monsters, but any random at any age in any country could message you, talk to you, friend you, add you, then pressure you, threaten you, belittle you, ask for pics, ask for videos, ask for anything, all at the age of 10-18. There was absolutely nothing to protect the kids that grew up on those platforms, all while their stakeholders profited off of the lifelong-trauma-in-the-making and now many of us are in therapy. Apologies for the long rant. Just angry and clearly still affected into early adulthood lol.

It’s a red flag that he removed that “apology” video because people that are new to his channel or rediscover his channel will not know about these allegations. It’s like he’s trying to hide all of it. Also if I were being accused of a crime and I had evidence to clear my name I would most definitely throw anyone under the bus to prove my innocence. If someone is making false allegations like that then they should be exposed and called out because that is also a crime to lie on someone and say they tried to have inappropriate relations with you when you were a minor. The main problem with replatforming destery is that a lot of Shane’s fans are mainly younger people (minors, to be exact) he’s giving a fresh new wave of people a chance to let him get a white knight image again, and possibly let this behaviour continue on. Shane is trying to distance from his past and this is gonna bite him so hard, he needs to cut a cord or accept that he’s gonna keep getting canceled for his choices online.

A guy I used to be friends with about 20 years ago recently got caught with CP. He not only admitted guilt he said he'd been looking at that stuff for a year. But because at the time they only caught him with three photos he got sentenced to two years in jail, three years probation after release, and 15 years on the sex offender registry. Like yeah it's gonna be super difficult for him to get a job after his release but I don't feel sorry for him whatsoever. When the cops asked him why he said he was "having a rough time lately." Dude, losing your job does not mean you fucking dive into harming children! I guess the good thing about modern technology is it's a lot easier to track these pieces of shit down. This kind of stuff has been going on for basically all of civilization but at least now we're starting to realize just how unfortunately common it is and are trying to finally do something about it.

This is crazy for me to hear! I went to school with Destry and he used to have to biggest crush on me. I moved out of state at 14 and was visiting when I was 17, I had just broken up with my boyfriend and started chatting with Destry again. After telling him I was in town and single he said, 'Please stay single until I see you again! I need to see you!' He was 18 or 19 at the time so not too crazy with the age difference. I ended up getting back together with my ex and told Destry I wasn't single anymore and he blocked me 🤣 this is the first I am hearing about him and any of this since then!!!

I used to be a fan of both Destery and Shane. And in both cases, with the information that has come out has me sick to my stomach.These are both creators I absolutely loved. The WTFNews series used to be such a comfort for me. I would rewatch old episodes and get really excited when new ones came out. But after everything came out, I stopped watching his channel all together. Just thinking about it makes me sick. I feel like he doesn't care to try to come off as this reformed, soft boy, learning and growing character anymore, he is just reverting back to who he always has been. I genuinely fear for his child with Ryland, I just know they are going to monetize that baby as much as they can. They scream "family channel"

I'm really not surprised Shane is giving Destery a platform considering what he himself has been accused of. It's the same reason I'm not as shocked as I should be about the allegations. Even then I still find it absolutely hard to swallow this truth. I've watched Destery since 2010 and loved all his content, having to hear this is the kind of person he truly is hits my soul different.

I saw the screenshots of when he started to follow her on social media, then he reached out to her, then he would do the whole sweet thing with voice messages and he would tell her he would fly her out there and kiss her and hug her and so on, then he tried making se*ual comments to her or telling her scenarios of the two of them asked for nudes and promise he would share back and then one day he just 180 and pulled away and put things on her and basically would put her down only to find out he got back with his ex so she reached out to Nate, not really expecting much, but she wanted to talk to someone who knew him, and Nate told her that it was something he did all the time. She would call me and text me and tell me it all showing me all the screenshots of it and one thing she told him that he didn't like was that if she was to go out to meet him she wanted me, a at the time 23 year old, to go with her, so she wouldn't be basically meeting a stranger (she didnt say the meeting a stranger part to him) and he would try to talk her out of it even if I agreed to pay for all my own things to go because I didn't want her to go alone. Him trying to downplay this whole thing and try to act like he has suddenly changed when this happened to my friend in end of 2019 to mid 2020 is full on bullshit. Now yes she was 18 going on 19, but still him saying he changed and is different is a lie considering this happened not even 2 years ago. He also never once asked her age and I will say she looks younger than she actually is.

When I was younger, I was gr00med online. Because of things like this being blown off and the environment these things had created online, I suppose I had thought it was "normal." It had happened more than once. So seeing you get angry and talk about this in such a raw way makes me feel so relieved. I saw these allegations last year when I first heard, I was in shock and anger. I thought he would be canceled/arrested by now. Even ahoy nateo who was his friend came out against him. the ‘innocent until proven guilty’ rhetoric is null outside of a court room. idk when people started to think it was something to apply to life outside of the law, but it makes no sense. even inside the courtroom it isn’t that black and white. ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ is a better phrase to base your morals on. a fair trial doesn’t mean the defendant is brought to justice or proven innocent, it just means they did everything according to the law. someone guilty of the crime can be let go because of insufficient evidence, in the eyes of the law they’re innocent, but in reality they aren’t. the us legal system is so convoluted that it would be bonkers to take any standards from it and apply them to day to day life. like yeah i strongly believe my friend molested a child but hey, they haven’t been convicted so i have to believe them! that’s stupid, choose who you want to support. your view of someone doesn’t put them in prison. if all the evidence points to them being guilty, you can think someone is guilty. that’s what ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ means. i think that’s more morally accurate than taking someone’s word for it until they’re arrested lmao-
