@@kennypartington669 He is rich now. After people become rich they often lose touch with how normal people think. They also don't usually connect with normal people problems.
I felt like everything was so obvious throughout the entire thing, like the clothing stores and supermarket were just marketing 101 but with scary music.
What pissed me off was the Zepeto theory it has been proven fake and the videos he shows about it SAY ITS FAKE!!! (PS he zoomed in on ReignBots video but she says its fake)
My thing with the suicide cartoon thing, was that he used a fake "Squidwards Suicide" video that was originally a Creepypasta. Also, I don't have enough money for an iPhone, so I'm not really interested in that junk.
...milk being kept at the back of the store isn’t any kind of issue. Stores often have layouts that are designed to make the customer move further to pass by products they might want, ITS CALLED GODDAMN BUSINESS! That’s why special offers are kept on the end of an isle, so it’s more visible ffs
Yeah, it's called the loop or racetrack layout. It's a very obvious attempt to get you to think about buying things on the way to the things you need. No conspiracy at all.
Shane's 'Conspiracy Theory' videos have always lacked research. Rarely are there expert opinions, and it just seems like he uses one website or picks out only the information which supports his theories. If he included contrasting opinions, opinions from others and at least some contextual knowledge, he'd be making some really good videos. Sadly, it's all just a melodramatic regurgitation of what he finds online.
even with the whole supermarket thing all the stuff he talked about in his video was all crap i learnt in a business studies class in high school. the whole thing about companies wanting to have their bright kid products on the bottom shelves so kids could see it - yes. that’s a marketing tactic. not a conspiracy. keeping essential items in the back not only is easier to stock but yes you go through other products that you might buy - marketing tactic. having chocolates, drinks, and magazines at the check out - marketing tactic. it’s not that deep fam.
But why would a business want customers to buy things? Is it some kind of organized deal in which goods and services are exchanged for money all throughout the world on a daily basis?!? They can't keep getting away with this! 😠
LMBO. the abercrombie and fitch one is funny. I used to work with Hollister and yes, i was normally in the back (altho not all the time), unboxing, but there was plenty a good number of “minorities” working there out in front of the customers. the company was garbage and they basically forced me to buy my own uniform (which was all abercrombie crap) at a “low” discount, gave me little hours, and then laid me off without telling me. I had to call and ask them if i had any hours and they casually told me i was no longer employed. Can’t tell you how PISSED i was at their treatment of me and others, but what i didn’t know was that i was hired at a good time. When Abercrombie finally got sued, i was qualified to receive money from the settlement. Nothing brought me more joy to see that sh**-for-brains company filling my pocket with money i’d lost thanks to them. victory is sweet... oh, but yeah... Shane, your theories/conspiracies are wack
I don't feel like his series are authentic anymore? Imo the docu-series/channel (atleast my love for them) has been going all way down since the jake paul stuff. It hurts that I've fallen off as he was like one of the first people I watched religiously but engh. I feel like he'll bounce back, though. I hope.
I don't see what there is to warm up to? Shanes voiced that he's pretty passionate about his conspiracies so I'm assuming (from my ecperiance atleast) that he'll research plenty off camera. Whether or not he's making any videos on them, he'll still be looking them up for himself. I'm not saying that it is, but it seems to be ill-done crowd pleasing. I dont understand how someone as invested as shane could make so many mistakes otherwise.
He was honestly reaching a lot in that video, I love shane but even I thought in some points "uhh I already know this information" or "it's not that deep"
Shane says °Oh my god!!!°°°°° a lot. Gareth has his mouth open a lot. A lot of screaming, a lot of sensationalism. Not really a lot of mindful, intelligent commentary.
Are you for real? That's them, they're personality. That's a big part of.. really why people like them, the over dramatic and silly things. You're not really there for an amazing commentary on how things are.. you're there for laughs.
Yes, I´m for real. Some people may just watch it for laughs and some may watch it because Shane showed a more mindful side in past videos and they liked it. Some like this video, some don´t.
@@fruhbisspattv5259 What? What does that have to do witn their personalities? Obviously people are allowed opinions on things, but don't click on a Shane Dawson video expecting to have top quality English and proper words as they describe something. Obviously they need to be calm sometimes but their reactions are a big part of the channel... not having an intellectual conversation.
everything with a speaker is a listening device, anything with a camera is watching you. this isnt new. it's been happening since electronics existed! So yeah!
whaaaat, companies using sex drugs and Rock&Roll, using memes and things you know to sell you things....naaaahhhhhh......what companies trying to force you and convince you to buy things you don't need....nooooooooo
Shane was very entertaining but during the Jake Paul docuseries, I got very annoyed because he was acting shocked at the smallest thing. He's just exaggerating for views... Good vid btw.
Big oof, Shane is manipulative and grooms children (maybe without actually realizing it), but he is overall extremely creepy with kids and loves to be besties with a monster. 🤷♂️
Former Walmart stocker here! Fun fact: I used to volunteer to stock the dairy cooler so I could violently cry when life got the best of me. Just know, your yogurt might be contaminated with employee tears.
lol the grocery store thing. It's true that companies send representatives to grocery chains and pay more/fight for eye-level shelving positions and product facings. That's not conspiracy theory, that's how retail merchandising works! "Fresh" food is put around the outside of all stores because all of those departments require some type of refrigeration, absolutely. This guy is hilarious.
2:05 "the whole iphone segment, it's only scary to someone who's highly neurotic" Given modern context, I think we might know why Shane was highly neurotic now.
The cartoon point is weak, regardless, because cartoons were originally meant for adults. Those suicide jokes were made at that time. Now they still sneak in adult humor because parents watch with their kids.
Not too mention the reason why the old looney toons and Disney cartoons with suicide in them was because back then cartoons were made for adults. Before they came to television cartoons were made and shown at movie theaters right before a movie played. It's not just suicide by the way in those old shows but a lot of adult subjects were in both looney toons and Disney shorts. Like there was one where it was implied that goofy' s wife was sleeping with the milk man. That plus the suicide jokes was only for comedy, adult comedy. It wasn't to put suicide into children's minds.
So one of the conspiracy theories is "super markets have realized that putting the most bought items at different ends of the store makes people see more items that they could potentially buy" Wow, what a breakthrough.
Because she sucks if you’re going to talk about my RU-vid or you’ll be going to get snatched and your hair going to get slapped off so you better get your stinky self out of here
Yeah, bout that 'cold shit in the back' part.. the loading docks are back there too. So the shit that can spoil the fastest has to travel the least amount of distance.
Oooh! Something I know about! I know I'm a little late to the party but, I'm gonna throw in here. First off. I worked retail for nearly 30 years. Putting certain things at the back of the store is totally a market strategy but not the dairy. Actually, most stores take losses when it comes to milk. They have it because people demand it. Secondly, the fire thing. Forests are tinder boxes but living trees are actually really fire resistant. Like, absurdly so. In a forest you have layers of dead branches and leaves but like three trees hanging out in someone's yard are barely gonna notice a brush fire. Even when it burns down houses and stuff. Like the leaves might get singed real good. So... yeah. You're dead on. He needs to talk to experts.
No one tell Shane about serious real conspiracies like Watergate. He'll never sleep again. Also, on the fire thing, trees don't burn easily because they're full of water.
The grocery store layout is seriously nothing new. They figured this out in the 1920's. It literally _is_ all about consumption and selling to the customer. As the layout evolved, they _did_ make it so you couldn't leave through the entrance. They _did_ make it so you had to walk through the entire store. In fact, when you first enter a grocery store, you should notice a rack with a bunch of flyers right next to you. They're there with the expectation that you'll pick one up, see the sales, and buy something you weren't initially going to. I worked in a grocery store for a few years, and yes, it _is_ true that the cold products are usually at the back of the store because most people need cold/frozen products and it _does_ force them to walk through every aisle. It's also partly because, from a construction standpoint, that's the easiest way to build in freezers/refrigerators. Most stores also push the healthy products up front and strew the unhealthy products near the end, so when you walk by you might be convinced to buy a treat for yourself. It's all just clever marketing. It's not a conspiracy theory and most of this has been well known for decades.
That whole Abercrombie and Fitch thing, I never bought it. I've seen nonwhites working the front before, and they were pretty hot too like the A&B catalog models. I don't think it was so much a race thing but rather a hot thing. The people sent to work out of sight were probably fat, maybe short, definitely short and fat, possibly skinny and ugly face.
Ditto. Been drug through there before(few diff cities) with gf's and saw a variety of ethnicities. But somehow they all still looked the same to me...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Never cared for atmosphere anyway.
The thing that rubs me off about Shanes series is how much he brags on twitter on how hard he and Andrew work that they literally kill their health to get their videos done, while editing is one thing the research he does makes it seem like he only cares about making the videos look good rather than actually researching the topics he is discussing like he did with Jake, and even though he got a huge backlash for doing a poor research on the mental health topic he seems to still repeat the same mistake on his new series. Shane keeps talking how he is about quality and not rushing his videos but the outcome just says the opposite and when ppl critique him he either uses his "I haven't been sleeping for a week bc editing" argument Or his Fanbase will come at you like Piranhas
I said the exact same thing on his video. Even though it may suck some of the fun out of the conspiracies, he should have given real researched answered to things like the wild fires. It would not at all be difficult. RU-vidrs have already done this. It just comes off exactly like his old much shorter conspiracy videos. Like the time he made the case that Hillary Clinton was faking her public appearances because he didn't bother to research how cameras work or the instance he was using as "evidence".
5:25 - also why would they keep items that require refrigeration towards the front of the store where the entrance doors open and close constantly letting heat in during non winter months? Me thinks it’s more of cost savings for energy consumption to keep all that mess at 30 some odd degrees in the back where temperatures wouldn’t fluctuate as much than some grand plan. Or.. here’s a thought Shane and others bothered by it can just go to a gas station then to get the milk so it isn’t that far to walk if that is indeed such a cumbersome thing.
Happy u made this video. I was thinking of commenting under shanes vid what i didn't like about it but it was like an hour after he posted and at that point only his subs were in the comment section and i was worried they'd gang up on me.
Most of his conspiracy videos are like this. And I don't really mind it anymore. But when I used to comment like that, it either: Got lost in the comment section or got fangirls crazy.
7:01 You just described Room 237 (I think?). It's that documentary about The Shining. For every good point or two, it's then immediately followed up by some crackpot endlessly running their mouth like "ooooh. Stanley Kubrick hid himself in the clouds in the opening".
I’ve been a fan of Shane for a while and I really hope he bounces back because lately his videos have not been interesting at all. The series were great at first but got stale. I honestly miss the short videos of him making crazy food or testing dumb products.
I never watched his documentaries- in fact, I only followed him because he hanged out with Garrett and Morgan. While he was working on a documentary series, I was g o n e, sis.
Correct on the milk. Eggs too. They're kept close to the big coolers or in the big coolers to make it much easier to keep them stocked. And since the front of the store is all registers and mall style spaces for smaller stores and restaurants to rent, and customer service and maybe a pharmacy and maybe a hair salon, they stick that stuff on the sides and back walls.
Putting the more essential items on opposite ends of the store absolutely is something super market chains do but there is absolutely nothing mysterious or conspiracy-worthy there. It’s just, like how they also put the more expensive name-brand products on eye level so they’re the first thing you see, a marketing tactic to get you to buy more. It’s just capitalism.
Did he seriously think the automatic doors closing is because they want to keep you in, and not to, y'know, prevent people from walking out with stuff without paying??? THis guy is 10 or something?
I love Shane, he's a huge role model for me But I honestly think he needs to stop with the the Docuseries for awhile, like go back to him trying food or buying kids toys or something fun and fluffy and not depressing and honestly the Dockuseries' get boring really quick. Idk maybe its just me
All Shane's conspiracy theory videos are like this. There's good explanations for most of them. Shane (atleast I hope) doesn't believe these. The videos have mostly funny "theories" and are done as a joke. Some of them are real and obvious, but not conspiracy theories.
5:03 Bullshit. That's called a Loss Prevention tactic. Controlling the flow of customers so they have to leave through ONE door is a way of making sure they pass by the registers. It makes it harder for people to shoplift. And I guess I'll keep saying this until people stop buying into it, but if *you* choose to use *your* money to buy the products in *my* store, that is *your choice* that you have to take ownership for. I did not trick you, I did not brainwash you- I put product out in the hopes that you buy it. I don't hold a gun to anyone's head and force them to. If *you* overspend because *you* chose to buy a bunch of shit you didn't need, then that's your problem, not mine.
I was confused by why they didn’t know about Live Photo’s too but then realized that the conspiracy isn’t the Live Photo. It’s the fact that the camera knows what’s happening before you take the photo, which is wild. It’s not the fact that Live Photo’s exist. It’s that it shows what’s happening before you press the button.
I think the first part was kind of silly in some of the things it covered. I had to skip over most of the “childhood trauma” thing... but the Deep Fakes stuff was a good segment. Now that the second part is out, I think it’s way better. Sure, two of the “conspiracies” he investigates are kind of silly, but he does do some pretty thorough discussion on a big story that poses a real threat to people.
That scene in the Lion King where Simba lays down and a pile of leaves sorta fly off a ledge making the letters 'SFX' for a brief moment always gets mistaken for some kind of subliminal messaging about sex, too.
I couldn't watch it anymore. The grocery store conspiracy is basic marketing strategies, not anything evil. I liked it better when the videos were shorter and straightforward
What the hell is in this that it got a viewer discretion advisory?? I work at a supermarket, yes we do try to manipulate you into buying things by moving them around to places where they sell the best. That’s why things tend to move around a lot in certain areas of the stores. Things like perishables like an in store bakery. Target has those shelves that they will fill up with chips, beer, or other things depending on what they’re trying to move because as you’re coming in or checking out, you’ll see it and possibly go and grab it because it’s so close by. The candy and gum being by the registers is also a manipulation because it can lead to impulse buying. It’s just common sales tactics.
in my opinion, the whole fire thing wouldn't have been so 'problematic' or whatever if he hadn't literally walked onto people's land and into where the houses were
I’m glad someone said it. I love Shane, but this video fell very flat. Half of them weren’t even conspiracies, it sounded like he was just trying to make things way more scary than they needed to be. If people would sit and think about half of the things he talked about for even five minutes, they could come to a logical conclusion. Like marketing in a grocery store being a conspiracy theory? Give me a break, they teach you that in any intro to marketing class in most colleges.
Yeah, the milk thing... The Aldi near my old place had the refrigerators adjacent to the storage section, and the milk and eggs were as close to the front as they could be without being in the freezers. The milk in the retailer I work at has fridges close to the entrance that wrap around , and the milk is in the corner, past mostly just other drink items. It's clearly a logistical thing that varies by store.
Disclaimer: I adore Shane’s channel and I have for years now. I enjoyed part 2, but part 1 was honestly kinda ... dumb. I hate it when conspiracy theorists try to freak out over stuff that can be simply explained by science. Not everything burns during a wildfire. Some trees are *evolved* to survive. In fact! Some pine trees *depend* on fires to spread their seeds and grow. The suicide in cartoons also bugged me. It’s as if no one even considers anymore that cartoonists and animators are real PEOPLE!! And that they could have been very depressed. Like you said, many of those cartoons came out after the Great Depression and during other awful times. It’s so distasteful to make theories like that.
Part 2 was good? Lool min wage employees covering for chuck e cheese? Yeah that's believable. Brittany: I nearly lost my son to human trafficking *Cuts to them joking about pizza*
im ngl I feel like the first part of this series wasn't great and I understood everything you talked about. I do however highly recommend the part 2 because it is sooooo much better and more interesting :)
