Fully agree Sir! I came from India as a skilled migrant in 2008 and was fortunate to have been able to work and contribute to NZ every day since then. I had always been told to take responsibility of my own future and be a good law-abiding citizen all my life. The same message from the Indian post-colonial leaders down to my parents to this day......Frankly I am astounded by the logic of many people here in NZ today playing the victim and blaming colonialism for everything.
I'm of Indian heritage too. I personally know a family who arrived here from Myanmar as refugees via Nepal. When they arrived, they had no command of English, but applied themselves and various members of that family have gone on to do well in the trades and the university qualified professions. There's no excuse for certain groups in NZ who cry oppressed.

Being a perpetual victim is never helpful for our collective future. I am a fourth generation NZer, I have lived and worked for long periods of time in the UK, Southeast Asia and also in China. Travelled extensively in North America and in Europe. My conclusion is that NZ is still the best country in the whole world with great future. From an early age I knew my Maori whakapapa and my tipuna in the context of colonial history. However, my parents would have been horrified if I used this in any way to excuse criminal or anti-social behaviour on my part. It's such an easy cop-out and TPM/GP are an abhorrence for promoting it.
