ANY buisness man like Shane that keeps a brick and mortar drum store open during a time of the internet deserves much much more than this awesome drum set
Unboxing of a lifetime! Well deserved, laddie! Shane is one of the most kind, considerate, and finest quality humans I’ve met in my 60 years! Get yourself to his drum Mecca!
I agree! Stop shopping at the box stores or online with super mega company. The prices are great and you will NOT get better customer service. 90% of the time the price is exactly what you find out there on the internet. They will be right up front with you with good advice. Shane gave me advice on electronic drums 7 years ago that still holds true today. He told me to spend more money. The 400 dollar e-kit was not going to cut it and was not going to be the best to learn on. This was back in the old store and he had nothing to sell me e-drum wise. He was right! I have spent 1000's of dollars that I didn't need to. I said GOOD advice not that I took his advice. 🙂We have experienced the down fall of locally run music retailers because of the domination of Guitar Center. I love this store and it makes me happy to go in there and see a ton of people on a Saturday. It reminds me of the old days going into that Junky music store and just spending a hour looking at my next thing. BTW bring your wallet! You're going to need it! 😋
All I want is Gretsch BroadKaster in 12”, 14” toms, an 18” kick and an extra 20” kick for big band. All in Satin Walnut. And I’ll never be able to afford them. Ever. It breaks my heart every day. I’ve got a quote from you guys. It’ll never happen. Watching this makes me want to cry. 😞
And thats y after endless hrs of comparing drums Pearl Tama Ludwig my choice was the choice I knew it was going to be the drummers choice DW, which was my first choice but since you are the greatest drugstore on the planet and put out 6 million comparison videos you had me doubting myself but I’m glad I finally made a decision of buying the greatest drums from the greatest drum store And I’m sure I speak for everyone. I appreciate the sacrifices you’ve made for us.
Reminds me of the huge Gretsch kit in their poster/catalogue in the 80's!! The difference being the massive hardware(cymbal stands) Gretsch offered back then.
The drums sound great, but what really touched me was Shane's story at the end. The way he expresses his gratitude and explains why DW means so much to him and the sincerity with which he does it is genuinely moving. DCP is unmatched. Congrats Shane!
I can’t even find the right words to describe this kit, it’s simply a phenomenal sounding and looking DW kit, honestly one of the best I’ve ever heard. That’s about all the drums I want for my dream DW kit, and the maple/mahogany shells are some of the best DW offer. And the tuning on this kit, and all the other kits you guys have is second to none. Fantastic video everyone, hope to come by the shop some day down the road!
You can see the sheer joy and happiness as he's unwrapping those drums. They are absolutely beautiful but I would not want the responsibility of tuning them!!! LOL.
I am a busy drummer. I too have a 15 piece kit, but Tama. I LOVE having that many drums available. Once you have them set up in a more permanent setting and play them for a while, you'll start to figure out exactly where you want everything, and how you can better position everything to make it both more compact without having to eliminate gear, and ergonomic for you and your playing style. It may take some very careful adjustments here and there, and maybe two or three complete reorganizations (take pictures of what works as you go), but it's so satisfying once you find the sweet spot for everything. I'm also an open handed player, and with 4 floor toms, it made it very easy to split them with two on each side, which also gave me a more relaxed playing position and more powerful floor tom playing because I could hit two without having to twist my body to one side of the kit. Have fun!
Love it! Its like my 9 piece DW. I have the 8/10/12/13/14/16/18/22/22 and waiting for the 20” (yes the old size before 21”) gong. But yours looks so much classier, has Maple Mahogany (my previous kit had that, what a sound), has the short bd sizes!!! One tip. Get the rack too. Congrats!!!
This kit sounds as amazing as any of the most impressive kits you've reviewed on here, which, all things considered, is hardly surprising. So much musical tone and low end. I have to wonder if some part of that comes from the fact that the kit is so big, and how much sympathetic resonance must be coming off a load of drums, including a load of big ones whenever you playing on one of the others. Something else that really stands out is how pleasing the closer pitch intervals between the 12", 13", and 14" toms are relative to what we're used to hearing from most kits with 2" or 4" size intervals. So happy for you.
the set up is just SICK. It looks and sounds amazing. of course your playing and the soundman help..... I also dig the philosophical overview and drum history discussion and talking about how you can't build a business without hard work. It's not some secret formula. That plus relentless focus on customers. The one thing you left out on the DW story was their great job early on with endorsers. Tommy Lee, etc. And then snagging Peart. Dayum....
WOW What a kit! 😎 My dream kit is also a DW maple/mahogany double kick drums 2 or 3 up and 2 down, I would also change the top heads to Aquarian Focus X clear and the batter heads on the kicks with Aquarian Force 1 clear heads, drumheads really is a personal choice for every drummer out there! Enjoy the MEGA kit Shane I hope you get to record and gig them live someday, All the best Janus
I purchased an 8 piece DW maple mahogany kit with African chechian wrap 14 months ago .They are arriving next week .after listening to yours. I can’t wait to get mine.very excited. Thanks for a wonderful unboxing.
It’s so nice to see someone play a big drum kit. The trend has been everybody play a four piece kit lately. Maybe larger drum sets will come back in style!
I walked into a store for a hi hat clamp saw 2 collectors kits for sale I fell in love with one went back next day and tried them out then picked them up the following weekend when my wife was at a bachelorette party. Timing was perfect. My favorite kit I’ve played🥁🔥 I love watching the DW videos of Don and John
Well done, as always, Shane. Your eloquent words describing the history of the company, The drums, the sounds, and your motivation is exceptional. Best of luck with the new kit.
just wow, beautiful , you have great taste. sound is killer. i love when someone gets the kids face when he as a new toy, shane got that look while opening the boxes. well deserved.
Shane, greetings from the other side of the country, the Pacific Northwest in Washington state. Thank you so much for letting me open, set up, and play such a beautiful drum set, even if it is vicariously. I can only imagine what it feels like to sit behind and play such a gorgeous piece of artistic beauty. You are a very fortunate young man, my friend.
Wow! Thats thing is just mental haha! Good on you for going all out! After all we only live once and for an uknown amount of time. Hope it brings you all the drum joy you've dreamed it could!
That is one of the most Beautiful ,Amazing, Complete Drum Sets I have ever seen !!! Thankyou for sharing this with us. It's hard to pick a favorite maker. But if I had to it would be D.W. .
Sounds amazing and looks amazing too!! Makes me sentimental about DW too. Hope to being able to afford a Collectors soon, so that I can enjoy the heritage of John and Don as long as it's there! ❤
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪 I just love this channel! And what a wonderful drumkit! I would love to play those drums😊 I started to play drums when I was 8 years old, and I am 60 now and it's still fun. Shane, you are a lucky guy😊
Thankyou Shane and Congratulations! that is an amazing drumkit,I'm shure your going to enjoy it! You may need a trunck to take in any where however.Really cool kit! Thanks again.
Talk about 'drum porn' ... MY GOODNESS! WOW, that is spectacular, and they sound amazing! You now have 1000 ways to set up your kit!😆 Your description of DW and how it relates to you and DCP and your sentiments about what you do and why easily explains why you're the best! One question; from all the views of the video, the 12 and 13 look like an 9x12 and a 10x13? Oh, and that finish selection! WOW! Thanks for sharing Shane, congrats!
Shane, me and my wife are watching together, and she said, "He looks like he's building a Fort, and he looks like he's never coming out...... I wonder if he played with Army men as a kid?" Shane, I just had to share, and knowing your "love" for Sonor, I think I'm smelling what's cooking....... (you'd be surprised what I'm thinking, but I better not say and start rumors). Enjoy them! They are GORGEOUS and sound GREAT..... now get yourself a perfect swivel throne and share your enjoyment because right now, this old Drummer is playing vicariously! Peace and Blessings Shane! By the way Shane, this is One Phenomenal Presentation! Well done!!!
Great video. Beautiful kit. Very heartfelt monologue at the end. That was textbook small business entrepreneurship 101. Well deserved kit and success. Many more great kits and much success for years to come.
Wouldn’t be my choice but we are all different with what we like. I’ve learned that there are so many good drum companies to pick an incredible quality set. It’s the sound you like is the most important. Pearl, Tama, Ludwig, Yamaha, etc… all have high end quality sets. You gotta go with the sound. Personally I like Barton drums because of the way they sounded on this stations review.
WOW!!! Awesome kit. Fun video too. Sounds fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing I know your are enjoying your new kit!!! Also thanks for the great customer service over the years. Loyal and longtime DCP customer in TEXAS. Keep swinging and all good things!!!
That is truly SICK! Reminds me of the last time I saw Genesis in Ottawa about 12 years ago and Chester had switched to DW! The same finish I believe and similar sizes but a single kick. Love the 23" that The Professor made so popular! It must be like Christmas at your place! I hope to visit your store someday!
