SVG has said he’s just been learning the ovals and trying to keep the car clean so far. Once we go back to ovals for a second time and now he’s locked into the playoffs I think you’ll see him start to push for better results.
When Australian Marcos Ambrose went to the USA and did 7 seasons racing in NASCAR, he was brilliant on road courses but never won an oval race, however he did have a lot of top 5 results. As an Australian supporter I hope SVG does achieve an oval win.
As New Zealander we not only hope but know SVG can win on an oval, if anyone can jump in something new and be successful it’s him. I also like to think of our other kiwi Scotty Mac, he’s jumped into Indy and had decent success in his first 4 seasons. those who followed SVG’s career from the start would not be surprised to see him start to excel through the ranks as he gets more experience. Will only be a matter of time in my opinion👍
SVG will get there for sure... he shits all over ambrose in any car he drives.... just look how he drifted the xfinity car the other day....(that playin around also woulda helped his confidence in the car immensely)
@@WacKEDmaN Clearly you know nothing about Marcos Ambrose's driving record and history. 1st off, he almost dominated European Formula Ford in an ancient relic he could barely afford . Then Paul Stoddart financed him to RENT a Formula Ford and dominate the British Formala Ford, with no money and defeating future F1 hotshots who were already financed and managed by F1 teams and principles. Then when he couldnt find $ 3 million US , he couldnt get an F1 drive, couldnt afford another year in England and came back home. 1st year in V8 Supercars was a learning experience, then he was sacked, joined Stone Bros Racing and dominated V8 Supercars for about 4 years , then went to NASCAR. After he left Stone Bros, their cars were no longer so quick . In America, he never got good cars to drive, but he still got results in uncompetitive teams and dominated road courses in slow cars. Most people knew his Cup Cars were dogs, but unless your winning or the govenors son, no one cares. Now , drivers like Kevin Harvick are openly stating that they wished he could have got a drive in a descent car.....Harvick even said he would have won on ovals in a descent car and challenged for championships.
this very modest driver is liked by those who sence here is an gifted young driver of 34 years bringing clean honest aspects a gratitude and life seldom seen today.
Dont be sore forever mate, SVG has a few more chances to school that turd this year. And he more or less schooled them that day anyway so let it go. It's Nascar and we have some good races for SVG coming up. Ever heard of Grant Park? Hill is nothing special. If SVG took Austin out on the first lap I'd be surprised if there was an apology after COTA....
yeah they seem to think simulators are the way to go , cant see why they dont get more practice, or will that make them better drivers and they will not crash nascar style
SVG is a full contact racer, that's why the Gen3 Supercars didn't suit him, they're too fragile. I knew when he announced he was going to Nascar he'd do well, he's made for that style of racing.
Maybe he is I'm in Australia 🇦🇺 I've met a spoken to Shane at Bathurst and a couple of other v8 races and you can see the guys mind ticking over when he first started out in v8 s I knew that this young guy was going to be mega . And he's proved that . Know he's world rated but the guy can drive and race hard . He doesn't hold back he doesn't mind the biff and barge but underneath his skin he's a genuine guy and no bullshit . If he didn't think he could do well in the states he wouldn't have gone . Let's wait and see see he's only started
He's pretty humble. He knows he is in his apprenticeship on ovals. Maybe two years we might se the best but he needs a good team with good equipment and crew { like everyone else i guess }.
Shane has what it takes, has the right attitude and all the ability. He's taking it all in,and both learns and upskills faster than most. Nobody else was overtaking like him on the street circuit, and the ovals are his focus now.
I’m Australian and know SVG will be a threat in any street or road course he competes. I think he’ll win at Sonoma this coming week. In cup Cam Waters and Will Brown may contend so don’t be surprised. As to your worries about AJ I don’t understand he came 4th in a repaired or back up car. I feel sympathy for him being upset about his own performance. I’ve been imagining how interesting if Supercars 888 prepared a wildcard entry for Bathurst for SVG and AJ to share. A crossover would be great to see for both NASCAR and Supercars fans alike. Obviously the dates of each would have to enable it.
@@robertjackson8728 I agree with those saying SVG would be better off remaining in the Xfinity series until 2026 while at the same time he gets to do all the road or street courses in Cup a maybe the odd oval unless he can score a win on one by the end of the year. I’d hoped Cam and Will could have finishes without incidents as they may have got top tens. It will be next year before they get another chance. 97, 5, 17, 45, 54 16 for Chicago
The Cup car is much closer in handling to the Supercar. I think SVG is struggling in the xfinity a bit. As others have said, he is in a learning phase. Probably 15 years behind his competitors in that regard. Every race, he starts slow, info on the track gets absorbed into his racing brain and he gets faster in the second half. When he goes back to tracks for the second time in his life, you will see a definite improvement. This year is his apprenticeship... look out Cup series next year.
I dont think anything is wrong with A.J , The cars were not great , Shane had to trash the car to get it to the front ,, Personally I feel car setup etc is not on point atm ,, SVG can race anything ...
He did not need the cautions he would've run down the feild with a 20 laps to go easy. Nascar wasted something like 11laps under yellow we were robbed of some good racing
We and Nascar have had the honor of watching S.V.G and his raw talent and skill during his first two Nascar road races, but remember he's practically been soliciding himself to Nascar to get his foot in the door, once he finds a family (a race car with team) watchout!!... But as for the thing that makes people like S.V.G metaphorically Tick, we have seen none of it so far it's only been talent and skill. I ASSURE YOU. I hate to blow his horn because I'm Australian and he is from New Zealand and we have this stupid healthy rivalry thing, If you haven't seen his race's in the Australian V8 Supercar series then waste no time! Remember V8 Supercars have Zero driver aids like ABS and T.C or stability management but they do have 650hp and the most driver hating rear differential in the game, if you even contemplate the thought of touching the throttle the car will punish you, same goes for braking. side note: The Kiwi bird is native to New Zealand and is completely FLIGHTLESS!! wth.. and totally defenceless.. A 5 month old cat would take down a 60 year old male kiwi bird..The life of a grounded burrowing Kiwi bird can be very tough unfortunately also with the arrival of european settlers came predators like rats cats possums and dogs the Kiwi is now on New Zealand's endangered species list and will likely remain there for the foreseeable future.
Will Brown is just as good...if not better at that age.... hopefully it comes through for him at sonoma...... Waters is average at best...im expecting him to be taken out early...by his own stupid mistakes... woulda loved to see SVG do the cup race with Will this weekend.... they woulda shown yas all how its done!
“Cam Waters average at best”. Seriously. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Last year parity issues hobbled all the Fords. Very late in the year when it was partly addressed he won. Before Gen 3 sat on pole at Bathurst. He’s had shocking luck with his car catching fire wheels coming off and mistakes not of his making. Had parity not been an issue Waters and Mostert would have right in it last year.
@@wazzajack9253 lmmfao...how many championship after how many years in the sport? ....how many bathurst wins?!...thats right 0-0... the flog is only there coz his parents are loaded...... ....remember how he got into supercars? by being an AVERAGE driver in the kelly bros TV show they had? ....he wasnt the best then... but the kelly bros picked him coz he came with money.... ya can say ...IF ...all ya want.... IF's dont get ya a championship or bathurst win.... the only reason hes close to winning now is coz everyone else has bailed and the young guys coming through are already showing him up (brown, kostecki)....again ...makes him AVERAGE AT BEST
@@WacKEDmaN You’re probably too young but Stirling Moss considered amongst the very top at the time never won a championship either. Anyhow let’s see how they go this weekend and I’m sure you’ll pick Will to do better than Cam. I give them an equal chance.
