Shane Warne bowling to Daren Powell - 2005
After a classy shot by the Windies No. 3 batsmen Ramnaresh Sarwan*, night watchman Daren Powell comes on strike.
Powell is still batting from having made 2 runs as nightwatchmen the day before. He now has the challenge of facing an bright and alert Shane Warne in the first few overs of the day's play.
Shane bowls everything at him; leg-breaks, over-spinners, wrong'uns and sliders.
He bowls with loop, he bowls with pace. He bowls full, he bowls short. He bowls narrow, he bowls from wide. It seems like Shane has gone right through his whole bowling armoury with no sucess...
But if you can't beat them, you can always try bowling them around their legs... and Shane Warne certianly knows how to do that.
It has to make you wonder though... Was it all just part of the great bowler's plan?
Shane Warne at his tactical best here...
*(Have to admit, I was a fan of Sarwan at the height of his career. A short, tenacious batsman; he even bowled a little bit of leg-spin too...)

Indeed a very great tactic used by Warnie here. If you look closely, all the deliveries that precede the wicket delivery are all pitched either at or outside off-stump which assimilates the batsman to playing through the off side. And then comes the wicket ball drifting and pitching outside leg - a surprise - and turning just enough to get the tip of leg-stump.

Shane warne was a great and marvelous spin bowler in deed. Do not open chapter for his personal life. So many brilient personalities in the various field were different lapses, bad habits, indisciplined features in their lives but do not bring these in front of their excellence qualities. If he was not banned for few years he then could achive highest wicket taker in world of cricket and it was rather difficult to cross over.
