Well, she was only 17 while he was 23. It's not exactly legal for a teenager and an adult with such a big age difference to be in a relationship. However, if Mandy was 18 at the time, it would have been just fine because she would have been at a legal age.

I was JUST thinking that! Somehow I watched Titanic then A Walk to Remember back-to-back, then I watched interviews of them together, and I felt the same way. They have mad respect and admiration for each other, which can sometimes be a stronger foundation than romantic love.

I remember seeing this film with a friend and we loved it. Had this bubbly feeling after it was over. Then I kept hearing people say "The Notebook is better." Uhhhhhhh No. The Notebook never gave you that feeling in the car when he's putting the tattoo on her shoulder with "It's gonna be Love" playing. Never made if sniffle when she says "You're my angel." Never made you say "Wow that was a great movie" when Landon says Love is like the Wind, I can't see it but I feel it, followed by Mandy Moore's "Cry" song.

Nah it's prob bc if he said they had a 'thing' then he'd be admitting to preying on a child actor...she was 16 and inexperienced. He was 22 and a veteran. It would have been so utterly inappropriate for anything to happen between them.

I was 8 years old when this movie came out and I think it impacted me so much because I remember it being the first time I saw a guy cry into his dad’s arms like that. It was profound for me too watch and I understood his portrayal of pain and could in later years comprehend the heartbreak of grief and eventually death.

I think this is the only movie I've watched/seen, where the main character died. And I wasn't disappointed, it was sad yes.. but it was such a beautiful movie and the story was so well developed that it didn't hurt as much and I'd keep watching it over and over again

One of my favourite films. I cried for a hour none stop after watching it especially when she revealed she had cancer. One of the sadest films I've seen.
