Can somebody explain to me why they need to remove the alpha by adding a black solid to the pre-composed assets and turning it to screen? Does the alpha affect the look of it if they didn’t do it? I’m genuinely curious about this.

sometimes the puppet pin tool can add a weird outline to alpha edges, so the black solid stops in the precomp stops that from happening

Can SOMEBODY please do an effect these days *WITHOUT* using damned stock clips I can't afford? I loved the effect at first and was like "Yay now I can learn to do energy!" But no. No, that's not how "tutorials" nowadays go. "Tutorials" just show you how to buy their products. Please - PLEASE - Film Riot, I love you guys very much and your older tutorials are amazing, but I beg you to stop slapping stop clips of your own or of others on top of footage. Like anyone can figure out how to do that. Please make an actual tutorial on how to do the effect itself, not just how to buy your stuff.

Use the free Video Copilot Saber effect instead of the Film Riot assets. However the Film Riot assets are great to have if you can afford them

If you want to cut out a lot of this tutorial use Video Copilot's Saber plug in and animate a mask to follow the rings and now you have dynamic energy flow without having to worry about re-scaling and cropping assets.

9:45 can anyone elaborate on this? In my case, I tracked a point on 1080p footage, but later on the same footage was provided in 6k, so copy-pasting the null from 1080p comp to 6k comp doesn't work. But is there any way I could have the previous null aligned to the point in 6k comp?
